Because they have learned nothing from Brexit. I mean, it's sort of their raison d'etre, banging on about independence and it does resonate with some of their fans who believe that should Scotland separate, we'd all be loads richer. They do appear somewhat confused though - a majority in parliament is a mandate, the biggest number of MSPs is a mandate, a vote for "pro-indy" parties is a mandate.... Anyone would think they were either making it up as they go along, or hedging their bets.

Are we supposed to forget all about the incompetence, the failing NHS and education, the scandals and all the other fuck ups?

So if you don't want to separate, don't vote SNP or Green in May.

John Swinney

How John Swinney plans to put his stamp on the SNP as election looms

There is a renewed emphasis on independence as the party meets less than a year before the Scottish election.

No difference between British nationalism and Scottish nationalism.

Scottish Nationalism is Civic Nationalism.

How can you not know the difference?

Very bored.

Ruth Davidson is a BRITISH Nationalist and former British Conservative and Unionist Party Leader.

This was before the Indy vote in 2014, she is on National TV promising that Scotland would stay in the EU if a 'No' vote was carried.

She was lying on National TV by saying this, much like Annas Sarwar was called out in Parliament recently.

Lying is the British M.O. 'Sweetie'

Very very bored.

Yes there is. Look it up.

You are on your phone or computer so you have no excuse.

"Nationalism as practised by the majority parties in Scotland is very different from that seen in other places, most notably in Downing Street.
English nationalism, which has become the prevailing philosophy of the Conservative Party, is exclusive, based on exceptionalism, and seeks to promote England’s interests and supposed virtues above all others.
However, Scotland’s civic nationalism is about freedom, tolerance, equality, the protection of individual and community rights and the rejection of prejudice and discrimination in any form.
While aggressive English nationalism is not a new phenomenon, it was, until recently, on the fringes of mainstream UK politics.
No one could have seriously thought that Nigel Farage and his saloon-bar prejudices would become the dominant political dialectic at Westminster, but that is what has happened.
Paternalistic, patronising, one-nation conservatism was never attractive, but it was better than its replacement – the increasingly right-wing, xenophobic philosophy of a hard Brexit that has produced a Tory red-wall majority at Westminster.
Douglas Ross seems comfortable with it – a fact which speaks volumes – but nobody else in Scotland should be. It is inimical to who we are and the place we need to occupy in the world."

The conversation is boring because all of what I have said is verifiable.

The Uk is already breaking up and Scotland will leave (because England never will)

Wales wants out too.

Scotland will leave and they will take their wealth and resources with them.

Why?

Because it belongs to the Scottish people.

I actually quoted the wrong post but no matter. Ruth Davidson is Scottish. In the event of a yes vote in 2014 we would have left the EU.

Yes it is very very boring that you mate trot out the same nonsense after all these years. You really have nothing. 😂😂😂

There is no difference between Scottish nationalism and British nationalism other than Scottish exceptionalism and wishful thinking Rob. They’re the same thing.

Its the same, because its been true for fifty years.

You quoted the 'wrong post' because you didnt watch it fully and you just heard the accents lol🤣

This is just how long this has been dragging on. England is now trying to stop Scotland from leaving and the British Chancellor was lying in this clip too. Thats how long the lying has been going on.

The latest white paper has admitted that they plan to create a Scottish £

Because you can't be independent if you don't set your own monetary policy, and the rUK would want a non member involved in theirs.

If independence fans can managed to get to polling day without anyone saying "It's our pound", then there could be a small chance it could succeed.

I have my doubts personally.

Its not Scotlands pound, the Pound Sterling belongs to England and that was established back in 2014. Dont think any of the Scottish Nationalists want to use Englands pound, though they could shadow the currency if they wanted to (but they dont)

Even though Scotland has paid into Sterling for 300 years and Sterling is currently shored up by Scotlands oil receipts its Englands currency.

RobG · 19/10/2025 17:31

If you want to go back that far, you will of course remember the Scottish economy just after the Darien adventure and just before the Act of Union ?

Yeah great “tactics” admitting that a key Scottish industry will disappear. 🤭 Funny given you claimed to have read the report that you didn’t remember that bit isn’t it? Particularly as a “finance professional” you’d think that would have stood out to you? 🤭

How does Scotland “pay into” Sterling?
