Exam results 2024

Thought I'd get started on the exam results thread as we have a month to go!
I think, as a parent, I'm more nervous about this year (Highers) than last year (N5) as the Higher results will influence university applications.
DD tells me she's not thinking about her exams, but then she throws into conversation how 'super smart' her friends are and how they will probably get As, and also has asked me if our postcode is eligible for widening access (it isn't) so it appears to me that she IS thinking / worrying about her results.
We do have a holiday coming up which will hopefully help us all relax.
How are other kids doing?

Just out of interest, why would someone want to see the grade boundaries?

The scientist in me enjoys the numbers. It's also interesting to match up previous year papers with grade boundaries e.g. Nat 5 Maths was considered extra hard last year and the boundaries were actually changed.

Interesting . . . Thanks for the info,

Will teachers have seen the results in school already?

OlympicsFanGirl · 06/08/2024 07:43

Hardly slept. Now waiting for DS May 5s. Not expecting great results so very worried for him.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 06/08/2024 07:44

Waiting nervously for dd's higher results. Been awake for an hour. She's in her room. With her phone. I've been ok up till now. She's very anxious. Not long now

Probably. I've not due to recent policy changes at our school, but used to see them on the Fri or Monday. I'm going in today though.

DS has changed number but not updated SQA so we're hoping he signed up for the email otherwise it's going to be snail mail 😭

Not sure when the results arrive in school tbh. Many teachers won't be in school yet or at all though.

Morning all! DS1 has gone off to work and didn't sign up for the texts so it'll be a wait until he comes home.
I can see myself eyeballing the envelope once the poster has been as I'm wfh.
He's got college in August so he doesn't need anything but it would be great if he'd passed some highers.

For full disclosure, I do work for SDS, but remember the exam results helpline if needed, parents can phone too: 0800 917 8000
If your DC needs to, they can also get in touch with their school careers adviser if there's anything in the need to chat over.

Back to anxious parent mode now 😂

Ten minutes to go....!

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 06/08/2024 07:55

5 minutes!!

Amelanchier · 06/08/2024 07:57

DS is off to a sport camp today. He says he will leave at 8:15 so probably 'won't be able to tell what the result are until I am on the bus'. Which I think is code for, 'I will tell you when I want to and not before'!

EsmeShelby · 06/08/2024 07:58

I've been awake since 6.30 it's been a long hour and half.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 06/08/2024 07:59

Here we go! Good luck all!

GetDownkeith · 06/08/2024 08:02

Sitting with ds. Came bang on 8am last year it’s 2 minutes past now.
I am worried he didn’t sign up for it now. I need to calm down!

ChocoChocoLatte · 06/08/2024 08:03

Nothing here either. Not sure if DD is awake yet!

TerfsWereRight · 06/08/2024 08:05

DD is in her room - not allowed to talk to her till she comes out. It was 0807 last year.

motheronthedancefloor · 06/08/2024 08:05

she's moving around upstairs...is she going to come down....

4 A and a B at Higher. She's now crying hysterically as she says it's not enough for university. Can't even get through how proud we are of her for all the screaming from her room

theferry · 06/08/2024 08:06

DD said I can’t wake up before 9.30!

MusicCrayon · 06/08/2024 08:06

We have ours and all good here!
