I loathe the Scottish Government

I loathe the Scottish Government. I want to see the SNP/Green Party coalition roast in hell! They can take any MSP who voted for the Gender Reform Bill or the Hate Crime Laws with them. Is it now a hate crime for a Scottish Woman to say that?

Is that vanity projects or insanity projects or both.what I couldn't understand was the millions on the bottle return caper .
I'm a 70s kid I'm sure our scavenged ale bottles and given to sweet shop didn't cost fortune to process.
The makey on embassies need closing.
Legal proceedings that your own lawyers have advised against.
You couldn't make it up.

Coughsweet · 04/09/2024 14:25

They’re the single strongest argument against independence.

@Thevelvelletes : that's absolute rubbish and completely out of context. One of the expert panel made a joke about trying to get Oasis tickets, Neil Gray responded about being in the queue for the queue with the reference to (I understand I'm not a Oasis fan ) an Oasis song. He then proceeded to chair (very professionally) a very interesting session with the 4 experts about the exciting work being done in the Scottish universities (and further afield) and people in the room who shared their own experiences.

It's a subject very close to my heart as my mother died from a head injury induced fronto-temporal dementia - but I hope she helped contribute to the research to identify causes, progression, prevention and cure as my father donated her well-documented brain to research (brain donation was one of the serious subjects discussed).

I don't ever post on these threads but I wasn't going to let this gross misrepresentation go unchallenged.

You really shouldn't believe everything that the Sunday Mail claims. Hmm

Ooops! https://x.com/rebeccabradyy_/status/1831305272989544922?s=46&t=AjtjSItRj-kgZwRzL-pdyQ

HappierTimesAhead · 04/09/2024 15:55

FFS, the fact that he even thinks this is okay! In what universe would you think 'okay, I am chairing a meeting at a huge conference about Dementia but I think it's okay to also be on my mobile phone trying to buy concert tickets'?!

BigBoysDontCry · 04/09/2024 16:35

Yet another lying cunt exposed but seems to have a little more savvy to own up a bit faster than his predecessor...or maybe was just told to do so but someone else.

prettybird · 04/09/2024 16:40

For those that are actually interested in the serious subject they were discussing, this is what one of the expert panel posted about the event (hopefully the link is available to everyone, but I've posted a photo of it too), and re-posted by others on the panel. As I've said, it's a subject very close to my heart Sad

For the hour that Neil Gray chaired the event (standing room only and I doubt that the journalists stayed after getting their headline, despite the serious topic they were discussing but there again, good news about collaboration and progress is not news Hmm) there was no evidence that he was looking at his phone.

He may well have been in a queue - people were in the queue (or even the queue for the queue Hmm) for upwards of six hours and still didn't get a ticket. Some (like Rob Powell of Sky News) even admitted that they might stop their "real" work, if they got to the tickets page Shock although that too was probably tongue in cheek

@prettybird It's great that there was a good discussion on an important topic and perhaps he still managed to chair it well but nothing is going to convince me that it was was an appropriate thing for a paid member of the Scottish Parliament to do.

BigBoysDontCry · 04/09/2024 17:17

So he did the job he gets paid a lot of money to do? 🙄

So does he really not know anyone else who could attempt to get tickets while he was at work in his well paid (by the public) responsible job?

Misthios · 04/09/2024 17:33

And then LIED ABOUT IT!!! Just like that roaster Mathieson and his "constituency business" when the truth was he was watching the Old Firm game on his ipad.

Rotten to the core. They don't give a shit about the taxpayers, or the voters. Just out for everything they can take us for.

Rainbowshit · 04/09/2024 17:45

Oh give over @prettybird. I bet if he was a Tory you'd be screaming blue murder. 🙄

Misthios · 04/09/2024 18:00

It's also hugely disrespectful to the people who are working in dementia treatment, and families, and the patients themselves. Because this twat has ensured that all of the coverage is about Oasis tickets and not what was being discussed.

Utter arsehole.

BlueThursday · 04/09/2024 18:39

Misthios · 04/09/2024 08:10

Exactly - the council has no money because of both the cuts to block grant, and the council tax freeze. Although they can piss away millions on a roundabout project which has taken 18 months to complete and which never needed done in the first place, and an "active travel corridor" along a stretch of road which nobody commutes along...

I get angry every time I go there to my parents’ 😡

BlueThursday · 04/09/2024 18:43

and now universal school meals not Ben g extended to P6&7 despite:

So children who are 17 have lived their whole life under the Nats
So surely they are to blame for any child who is living in poverty 🤷‍♀️

motheronthedancefloor · 04/09/2024 20:21

@BigBoysDontCry exactly my thinking.

Just when I think the SNP government couldn't do anything to make me hate them more, they go and prove me wrong.

BigBoysDontCry · 04/09/2024 20:47

The amount of people that think we should be giving praise to people who do the job that they are paid for as if that is some sort of achievement just shows how far standards have fallen and what people are prepared to suck up from our public servants in the name of an ideology.

In private employment, on a scale of 1-5 doing a competent job gets you a 3. You've done exactly what you are required to do, no more, no less and that's fine. It doesn't get you discipled/sacked but also doesn't earn you praise or a bonus.

I'd expect someone on his salary to be able to competently chair a forum as a bare minimum. Trying to buy concert tickets whilst at work (however long the queue) and then lying about it or at the least not being forthcoming about it is, as usual, what we expect from an incompetent grifter.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 04/09/2024 20:50

We had the "who deserves a bonus" conversation in the office this afternoon. Exactly as you say- doing what you're paid to do doesn't deserve a bonus.

BigBoysDontCry · 04/09/2024 20:57

I guess I mean a personal bonus. If there is a company bonus for all those that contributed to the success of the company then I'd say a 3 should be counted. But bonuses kept for high achievers (regardless of whether it contributed to the company success) would be for those awarded 4 and 5. IMO anyway.

KielderWater · 04/09/2024 21:16

Every time they blame Westminster what they mean is ‘The English’. They should all have been arrested under their hate crime law for stirring up hatred against the English.

BigBoysDontCry · 04/09/2024 22:07

Do we know if it was his personal phone or his work one?

motheronthedancefloor · 05/09/2024 06:40

Don't know how we'd be able to find that out

BigBoysDontCry · 05/09/2024 08:12

I'm sure there's a journalist out there putting in an FIO request as we speak.

I know that the journalist who broke this story was extremely vocal on twitter about being accused of lying and also stating that the phone in question was not in the minister's pocket for the entirety of the meeting.

Starlightshine · 05/09/2024 09:39

School dinners are utterly inedible. Quorn hot dog anyone? I wouldn’t serve that to a dog! Ditch the freebies and improve the quality for those who rely on school dinners

KielderWater · 05/09/2024 17:12

If he was on the ticket waiting list on his phone in the meeting, what would he have done if he got through to booking?

motheronthedancefloor · 05/09/2024 17:27

Detectives are asking prosecuters what they want them to do next re Sturgeon and Beattie. I mean they've only had...how many years?....to figure it out.

If NS gets away with pretending to have no knowledge of what the man she was living and working with was up to, or what was going on under her leadership, thats a fucking travesty of the highest order.
