I loathe the Scottish Government

I loathe the Scottish Government. I want to see the SNP/Green Party coalition roast in hell! They can take any MSP who voted for the Gender Reform Bill or the Hate Crime Laws with them. Is it now a hate crime for a Scottish Woman to say that?

We all know the Westminster government have raped (sorry, thats a vile word) Scotlands natural resources

"We" don't all "know" that because it's nonsense.

Coughsweet · 29/08/2024 11:11

If I was a company considering sponsoring any cultural events I’d be very wary.

mibbelucieachwell · 29/08/2024 11:26

According to my googling, the current Scottish government expenditure on the arts is 0.59% of the budget. This is way below other comparable countries.

Across the UK, the arts industry is estimated as contributing to around 5% of the economy.

So from an economic pov alone, cutting spending on the arts seems like a bad idea.

And yet there's money available for across the board freebies and snp and Scottish embassies.

Radio Scotland did their phone in hour this morning on the cuts to the Scotland open fund for individuals. One of the very few voices defending the government's decision was Brian Taylor, ex BBC Scotland political editor and student collaborator with Alex Salmond.

Just like to point out that Westminster's Levelling Up fund saved The Edinburgh Filmhouse.

motheronthedancefloor · 29/08/2024 19:13

And we still have another 2 years before we can get rid of these arseholes, but even then, there are idiots who will still vote for them.
There are people who don't bother reading / watching the real news and get their 'news' from conversations with their friends, who drink the kool aid.

Conference on Alzheimer's/dementia and SNP health secretary is on the phone trying to get oasis tickets.
What an absolute prick and this was explained..he joked that he was half a world away ensuing much hilarity from other conference attendees....aye right so that's ok then.

whistablenative · 02/09/2024 17:25

@Thevelvelletes there is absolutely NO respect for the people of Scotland here.

prettybird · 02/09/2024 19:25

@Thevelvelletes : that's absolute rubbish and completely out of context. One of the expert panel made a joke about trying to get Oasis tickets, Neil Gray responded about being in the queue for the queue with the reference to (I understand I'm not a Oasis fan ) an Oasis song. He then proceeded to chair (very professionally) a very interesting session with the 4 experts about the exciting work being done in the Scottish universities (and further afield) and people in the room who shared their own experiences.

It's a subject very close to my heart as my mother died from a head injury induced fronto-temporal dementia - but I hope she helped contribute to the research to identify causes, progression, prevention and cure as my father donated her well-documented brain to research (brain donation was one of the serious subjects discussed).

I don't ever post on these threads but I wasn't going to let this gross misrepresentation go unchallenged.

You really shouldn't believe everything that the Sunday Mail claims. Hmm

Perhaps The Herald then.

At best he was concentrating on his phone during an important, serious speech and made a really stupid joke.

Neil Gray labelled 'shameful' for buying Oasis tickets during Alzheimer's panel

After a hopeful speech from an industry expert, Mr Gray said: “I’m in the queue to to buy Oasis tickets. Hope is very important that I get…

Oh I'm sorry my mistake because The SNP are the paragon of truth and transparency.

BigBoysDontCry · 02/09/2024 22:02

Yet another Health Secretary in bother related to use of devices. I mean those fuckers never lie about these things do they?

Your version of events bears no resemblance to the report in The Herald.

£500m of cuts coming according to breaking news - surprised they don’t just shakes the branches of the tartan money tree as they usually do.

tolerable · 04/09/2024 02:03

same.durty rotten wrong yins n rats.cubed.(actual hate hate.)THIS is not our country anymore

Motheranddaughter · 04/09/2024 07:33

Shona Robison is scarily hopeless
The Nats can't even be trusted to look after their own money, let alone our money

Rainbowshit · 04/09/2024 07:52

Massive cuts coming yet they've just announced that anyone can get testosterone or estrogen on demand with no diagnosis of gender dysohoria.

When so many are having to wait years or are denied essential drugs/treament it's an utter disgrace that iatrogenic harm because of a lifestyle choice is to be offered on the NHS. 😡

Misthios · 04/09/2024 08:01

Someone's just posted on our local FB page this morning with pictures of a local primary school which was due for refurbishment about 3 years ago and is still on hold because no money - mould on walls, buckets collecting water, plywood patching up the walls, plants growing out of the stonework.

But hey, free baby boxes and estrogen/testosterone/gender affirming nonsense for everyone!

SirChenjins · 04/09/2024 08:07

Ahh, but @Mishmashs, schools are council funded, so nothing to see here (apart from a massive cut in the block grant to councils from the SG of course, but squirrels)

Misthios · 04/09/2024 08:10

Exactly - the council has no money because of both the cuts to block grant, and the council tax freeze. Although they can piss away millions on a roundabout project which has taken 18 months to complete and which never needed done in the first place, and an "active travel corridor" along a stretch of road which nobody commutes along...

SirChenjins · 04/09/2024 08:27

I quite agree @Misthios (apologies, I called you @Mishmashs in my last post). Key services are being run into the ground as a result of the cut to the block grant and the many years of council tax freezes, but millions poured down the drain on vanity or failed projects.
