I loathe the Scottish Government

I loathe the Scottish Government. I want to see the SNP/Green Party coalition roast in hell! They can take any MSP who voted for the Gender Reform Bill or the Hate Crime Laws with them. Is it now a hate crime for a Scottish Woman to say that?

The greens are supposedly saying they’ll back the tories in the vonc…they’ve really spat their dummies out!

A week is a long time in politics. There are a lot of angry Green Party members saying they will leave the party if they do. It seems voting for a Tory motion is a red line for some. I suspect some of them will abstain.

Newwwewww · 26/04/2024 08:57

the greens have got themselves into a mess here - resigning on principle, attacking Yousaf for siding with the ‘reactionaries on the right’ and then…siding with those elements on a VONC.

this highlights to me all the weaknesses of Harvie and Slater - get them out, greens need to attract a broad coalition themselves united around green issues.

Newwwewww · 26/04/2024 08:59

Both SNP and greens need new leadership, or I hope they’ll get the drubbing they deserve at the polls.

Jeezitneverends · 26/04/2024 09:10

@Aaron95 you're absolutely right, there has been some serious knee jerking reactions in the last 24 hours

CocoapuffPuff · 26/04/2024 11:28

It's all very childish and spiteful. Just the kind of people I want making decisions for the country.

bentneckwine1 · 26/04/2024 12:14

I live in Perth and Kinross and voted SNP tactically in 2019 - this was the first time I had ever voted SNP.

In the 2017 general election there was only 21 votes between Conservatives and SNP.

I was trying to get the Tories out in 2019, so voted SNP, which obviously didn’t happen.

SNP and Nicola Sturgeon never represented me - voting tactically is essential in our first past the post system

ArtfullyCrumpled · 26/04/2024 12:19

Just seen that labour are going to lodge a motion of no confidence in SG.

Presser at noon

mibbelucieachwell · 29/04/2024 12:12

He's officially on his way oot.

Mon the leadership election.

He's now only just managing to hold back the tears. Aaaaagh. I don't like him but I don't enjoy seeing people crying. Phew he managed to keep it together.

No press questions

Every time I go past any Aldi's in my local area and see the never used DRS units, I am given a visual reminder of how utterly useless the Scottish Greens are.

Out of interest, why aren't people using the deposit return? It's a no-brainer surely - otherwise you're just throwing money away? I've lived in countries with DRS and everyone uses them, you just take your empties to the supermarket when you go shopping.

Because they’re all closed off.

Long long saga- short version is that all English drinks producers would have to comply with the labelling requirements in order to sell in Scotland and their prices would be different, hence it becomes anticompetitive and requires agreement from England - which the Green minister in charge (Slater) didn't bother to request until far too short notice. Just doesn't work having different labels and prices across the border. No evidence it would boost recycling anyway - more hassle to take stuff back than stick if in your own recycling bin, and scunners councils who would no longer get any revenue from glass recycling (the only bit that actually makes any money). Most of our 'recycling' gets bailed up and shipped abroad, very unclear what happens to it then.

It looks like Swinney might be throwing his hat into the ring.
The one who was Education Secretary and brought in our wonderful curriculum for “excellence”. 🙄🙄🙄

Every time you think they’ve scraped the bottom of the barrel they manage to scrape it just that bit harder

Toooldforthis36 · 29/04/2024 14:55

I see Swinney being lined up as the safest pair of hands despite himself already having a very lacklustre time in the job and introducing the Curriculum for excrement? And being a Sturgeon lackey just like HY. That’s the crème de la creme folks….😳

All to avoid a tartan on tartan rammy pre General Election. All about the optics, no substance.

Plus ça change SNP.

She is a perfect demonstration of why politicians should have to have some real life experience, including having worked outside politics, before they get elected.

I see your Mairi Black, and raise you Ross Greer as a better example. Total waste of space, earning £72k a year as a MSP, living at home with mum and dad, total work experience zero.

I used to live next door to an SNP MSP. My (then) H & I knew him & his wife well. We had our 1st babies at the same time & were in & out of each others houses almost every day. He was a total & utter ***muppet.
LIterally wouldn't trust him to make a cup of tea (he was both stupid & lazy)
Delighted to say his 'wee wifie' (he used to think it funny to call her that as she was from Paisley & Dadddy had sent him to Fettes) later divorced him.
He now resembles nowt so much as a Scottish Boris Johnson. I cringe when I see him out & about in the summer at county fairs & the like. Idiot, misogynst, racist.

Did everyone else know that the former FMs all get half their ministerial salary /year for life as a pension from the day they leave office 😮
