Well folks, I guess that's that. Abhannmor has made a robust and salient argument. I guess we ask mumsnet to remove the thread and move along now.

readsalotgirl63 · 02/02/2024 17:24

But I'd like to know where s/he thinks the £600K went.

readsalotgirl63 · 02/02/2024 17:25

And what about Nicola's WhatsApps ?

BigBoysDontCry · 02/02/2024 17:28

readsalotgirl63 · 02/02/2024 17:25

And what about Nicola's WhatsApps ?

She had 60,000 WhatsApps and paid a tenner each to have them deleted?

Definitely no need to be rude or state kiss my ass!

Also don't need to speak gaelic to be able to use Google translate.....😉

It's great you had a nice time in Scotland not sure why you feel the need to come on Scotnet and state something isn't the case. Politely just as I would not have the knowledge or lived experience to comment on Irish politics because I have visited multiple times, in the same regard having a long visit or a few visits doesn't mean your subject to what many of us see as major failings.

Abhannmor · 02/02/2024 16:13

I've had to the misfortune to read most of this thread. Wired to the moon. Ireland is full of wingnuts too in fairness. The End Times I suppose. Slán.

Scots are going to discuss our administration and express our feelings on our political landscape. It's pretty rude to wade in and fling insults about.

RandomGeocache · 02/02/2024 17:59

Even without the help of google translate I managed to understand the first bit. Nice wee bit of sectarianism thrown in there too.

If being able to speak or understand Irish/Gaelic is what it takes to be a good nationalist in Scotland then Useless, Swinney and Harvie are scunnered.

annabelindajane · 02/02/2024 18:18

Wind farms = Subsidy Farms . They are not green and will never produce cheap electricity. Scotgov gets business rates for them so push the narrative .
300 million in constraint payments last year and this will increase with ever more turbines being erected . They destroy the landscape and peoples lives . They are great for the landowners ( I know one who happily tells everyone they are paying his 3 childrens school fees) and the people who build them , largely foreign companies . Big scam really which we pay for .

Ah so you've visited Scotland and are now an expert... Okaaay... 🙄

Yip, try fucking living here with these crackpot schemes and dictatorship.

Nah, we've now been informed that it's us that are crackpots and conspiracy theorists. 😂😂

Exactly! Loony greens backing up the rotten to the core SNP aren't we lucky 🙃

I've no idea what language Scottish nationalists prefer. I only defaulted to Gaeilge because someone accused me of inventing ' a Gaelic user name ' to comment on Scottish politics. If you prefer I could post in Lallans? Btw is using Gaelic regarded as sectarian now? I can't keep up with the ramifications of intersectionalism. And as the post as Gaeilge was deleted I'm not sure what the accusation was about.

Another delay on the ferries :
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-68183252

Glen Sannox now due for delivery late May and then 10 weeks of sea trials before actually going into service, which puts it starting carrying passengers early - mid August, missing most of the summer rush. Also the guy in charge of the yard "warned of possible further delays and cost overruns."

This is the ferry which should have been in the water in 2018, which should have cost £97 million and which is now costing more than £340 million.

Glen Sannox

Ferguson shipyard issues new ferry delay warning

The delivery date for Glen Sannox will slip until at least late May as the yard faces supplier problems.

I’d like to say I’m surprised @RandomGeocache but it’s the same old, same old from them.

Northernsouloldies · 03/02/2024 09:16

The islanders will have personal jet packs by the time these ferries are finished. 😁

RandomGeocache · 03/02/2024 09:23

There have been so many stories about businesses on Arran struggling to get merchandise in, people can't get to the mainland for hospital appointments. I am close enough to consider a day trip to Arran over the summer - but I wouldn't, because I know the ferry service is so unreliable.

The whole thing has been a fuck up from start to finish. The four ferries made in Turkey are almost ready, cheaper and quicker. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-67956872

MV Isle of Islay

CalMac ferry built in Turkey gets March launch date

The MV Isle of Islay is one of four ferries being built in Turkey for Scotland's west coast routes.

Loving this thread. Sort of Mumsnet reservation for conspiracy loons and Tories. Especially having just visited Scotland for a longish trip and not heard such rámeis. All adds to the gaiety of nations though I suppose.

Until your longish trip stretches to paying council tax you really, really don't know.

And we spell it rammy.

ArabeIIaScott · 03/02/2024 10:46

I think Scottish women, in particular, will have had a very specific experience of the SNP over the past few years.

readsalotgirl63 · 03/02/2024 10:58

Abhannmor still hasn't said where the £600k is or whether or not Nicola should have deleted the COVID related WhatsApps when she had kept a couple of years worth relating to Alex Salmond 🤔

annabelindajane · 03/02/2024 15:00

Maybe she could also tell us where the 60 million bung sent from Uk Gov to Scotgov last year for the farmers went as it certainly didn’t go to the farmers .

SirChenjins · 03/02/2024 18:23

ArabeIIaScott · 03/02/2024 10:46

Agree (and for our visitors’s benefit that’s the adult human female variety of women)

storminamooncup · 04/02/2024 06:53

Wasn't aware Blackford had left his wife for a misstress and quite grossed out at the thought of him spending £300 on lingerie

BigBoysDontCry · 04/02/2024 08:33

The Blackford thing was all over twitter a few weeks ago. Apparently he took the mistress to Westminster parties over the festive season but no one was allowed to say anything. Mrs B chucked him out.
