half listening on BBC - seems like Humza is getting slung under the bus. Interesting discussion about the Gold Command meetings and why they were not minuted but of course decisions were made by the whole cabinet

Igneococcus · 31/01/2024 12:13

"Responding to questions about the group, Nicola Sturgeon said she was not “particularly conscious” of WhatsApp groups where officials were exchanging information."

It's a variation on the "I don't recall" theme.

SirChenjins · 31/01/2024 12:16

Was she too busy thumbing through motorhome catalogues to be particularly conscious of important WhatsApp information exchanges between officials? Or could she just not be arsed?

StillCreatingAName · 31/01/2024 12:29

“particularly conscious”

Nice spin- lols at not being ‘particularly conscious’ when you’re supposed to be leading through a crisis with no precedent. My blood boils for all the people impacted by decisions made by these clowns in their chitty chatty sub groups.

cougher needs to switch their effing microphone off

Suspicious people might think that the coughs are deliberately loud?

RandomGeocache · 31/01/2024 13:07

The fake watery eyes and trembling lip when she says she wished she hadn't been FM during the pandemic.

What a load of ABSOLUTE BOLLOCKS. She loved every single minute of it, her daily sermon on the telly, the nauseating Janey Godley voiceovers, the chance to get one over on Boris.

What an odious, lying, disgrace of a woman.

JSMill · 31/01/2024 14:12

SquidwardBound · 29/01/2024 14:54

I don’t understand the blind loyalty to the SNP that seems to drive the ‘you can’t criticise the Scottish government because…’ responses.

It was pretty obvious at the time that many of the stupid and draconian rules were purely designed to play into the ‘taking things more seriously than that fool boris’ story.

Scottish children got a particularly shitty deal out of that.

Not just the school children. I live down south but through the pandemic I was worried sick about how isolated my df was due to the draconian restrictions about socialising. As he was in our 'bubble' we regularly invited him to stay with us but he resisted as he'd swallowed the SNP propaganda about how bad it was 'down south'.
When I read about the exchange between NS and her advisor, essentially making up the numbers who could attend funerals etc, I was appalled. My aunt died during the pandemic and I couldn't go to support my cousin and my df because of restrictions on numbers but NS thought this was a game with Westminster.

IWillNoLie · 31/01/2024 14:58

I ‘went’ to a funeral in the pandemic though only stood outside to see the hearse arrive. The undertaker/crematorium staff were quite willing to go over numbers, but as a more distant friend I didn’t want to put the family in an awkward position. Sadly not all funeral locations were so willing to turn a blind eye and instead stuck firmly to a number that was, as we now know, pulled out of thin air.

RandomGeocache · 31/01/2024 15:09

"It was never my intention to irritate anyone, says Sturgeon"

on BBC website. Think we can all definitely agree that's a big fat fail on that one.

storminamooncup · 31/01/2024 15:49

So they said it was okay to go to Spain just so they'd get Spanish support for independence, but covid decisions absolutely were not political?

treadingonlego · 31/01/2024 16:53

I know - I can’t believe she said that with a straight face 😂

You've made me laugh out loud with that response. Thanks! Watching NS lie and twist things this afternoon had really put me in a bad mood.

Watched some of John Swinney and Kate Forbes yesterday. Pretty shocking that Kate Forbes was neither aware of nor invited to "Gold Command" meetings. Also that JS said the decision to close schools (I think in Jan 21) was a conversation between him and Nicola !

Thought we were supposed to have cabinet government.

I used to think Kate was out of her depth till finding out key information was kept from her in order to make her look incomptemp. Sneaky underhand behaviour ala sturgeon.

SirChenjins · 31/01/2024 20:17

Kate didn’t stand a chance in the leadership contest, did she - Sturgeon and her cabal had already decided that Yousless was taking over to ensure the SNP would continue to operate exactly as Sturgeon wanted.

Northernsouloldies · 31/01/2024 20:26

Incompetent.. I would lay money that sturgeon is still a puppeteer in the background.

SirChenjins · 31/01/2024 21:11

Oh absolutely - she is still very much at the helm.

IWillNoLie · 01/02/2024 00:05

Well, the media seem to have lapped up her ‘tearful’ performance and ignored her admittance of being wrong, lying, and causing untold harms to adults and children in Scotland.

Wonder if the police pulled over the car for its lack of MOT, or was it a police vehicle she arrived in? If so, why?

mibbelucieachwell · 01/02/2024 14:07

She's one of the worst offenders for playing the sympathy card imo. I'm sorry but she chose to be a leader. Yes she was unlucky to have a pandemic on her watch but there's often something unlucky that crops up; natural disasters, wars, Trump.

BigBoysDontCry · 01/02/2024 14:35

The smartest thing to do is to accept when you are out of your depth and get someone better in to take over. The problem is that she thought she was the best and tbh, her practice of not developing or getting the right people in the first place meant that there was no-one half competent within the SNP either. They would have basically had to outsource the role to someone else.

RandomGeocache · 01/02/2024 18:37

Alister Jack: I think Sturgeon could cry out of one eye if she tried.

😅

storminamooncup · 01/02/2024 18:59

Good on him, I say.
I also think his Whatsapp deletion story is more believeable, even if its obviously not good that they were deleted.
