This is bizarre! What are they looking to find in the garden????
@Scottishskifun and others I'm glad you can chuckle at this... but while two wrongs don't make a right I do always wonder why people who hate independence/ SNP can't see anything wrong with the absolute corruption and blatant lies going on at Westminster- it's not ok either.
At least the Scottish police have investigated...

Just the usual small minded assumption we vote tory and endorse all Westminster actions, if we don’t vote for the Scottish Nasty Party or continue to believe independence is coming down the line (it really isn't).

TokyoSushi · 05/04/2023 16:39

Yes there is a car in the tent. If I was on that street I wouldn't be able to help myself, I would be glued to my window!

Maybe the police are emptying and searching a garden shed / home office chalet type thing in the rear garden. I've got a friend with one and he keeps it absolutely stuffed with overspill paperwork and old laptops.

I'll take one for the team and keep Sky on in the background and see if there's an update. This really is bizarre, as pp says.

No they’ve got the shovels out, they are literally digging it up

TokyoSushi · 05/04/2023 16:42

Just looking at the drone footage...

I'm surprised the neighbour doesn't start a thread 'AIBU, it's a parking one! My neighbours are having their house searched by the Police and they've parked a Police van on my drive!'

@NowThatsWhatICall22
Well if you don't vote Tory Green or SNP and you don't always endorse Westminster who do you vote for? Until recently lots on Scotsnet disagreed with Labour / Liberal policies too.
I don't think independence is coming down the line anytime soon as it's obvious that wasn't going to be "allowed"
But this shit show isn't helping and I'm not sure what on earth is happening..

ThisIsUncool · 05/04/2023 16:48

All very odd. If you know you're being investigated, why would you hide potential evidence by burying it in the back garden? There would have to be better options.

Last election I voted for independents. I have also voted Labour and liberal.

Never voted Tory or SNP.

Green used to get my second vote before they went looney.

Exactly. The likelihood of there being anything there is probably zero.

Well they won’t be digging it up for fun..

ismu · 05/04/2023 16:53

It's completely mad
And weird behaviour by the police

They apparently have based up several items they dug from the garden. twitter.com/alextomo/status/1643634903584473090?s=46&t=AjtjSItRj-kgZwRzL-pdyQ

My ghast is flabbered. What the fuck could it be?!

id guess computer equipment, paper records, stuff like that I’d say it’s not looking good if they are digging up stuff in the back garden that needs bagging up

I don't excuse any corruption just find it amusing and predictable that on a thread about the ex chief exec of the SNP being arrested in Scotland there is a load of posts about Westminster! It has zero to do with Westminster it's about a Police Scotland investigation into a member of a Scottish party in Scotland!

ismu · 05/04/2023 17:19

@potniatheron eh, no

@Scottishskifun I totally agree with you, nothing to do with Westminster but just pointing out the hypocrisy of a system where someone's back garden is dug up with forensic tent etc for £600k whereas the met gives a wee hand slap to some far more serious allegations.

So I'm beginning to think either the police are completely mad or there is something worse.

Staggie · 05/04/2023 17:23

Has he been charged? I can't see anything anywhere but you all seem to know a lot more than I can find?! What's he been charged with anyone?

Not charged (yet) I don’t think. Arrested and held in custody,

Police don't do things for fun and your still comparing the two!
There isn't hypocrisy unless there is enough evidence to build to a case and investigate.
This isn't UK politicians versus Scottish Politicians. This is about a criminal investigation into a high profile member.

They must have enough of a suspicion and other evidence before today to spend thousands on pounds (which is what this will be costing in man hours, resources, evidence processing) to get a warrant etc

Fraud is a serious crime as well!

Whatthediddlyfeck · 05/04/2023 17:28

Do you think there’s a bookmaker anywhere that would take my bet on a “no comment” interview from Murrell then her not being able to remember anything about anything ?

Just arrested.

It's likely to be many months before he's charged.

Economic crimes take years to come to court.

I’m not sure on that, this has already been going on a long time. They have however many hours then it’s charge or release or seek an extension. If hazard a guess they are close to charging.

KnittingNeedles · 05/04/2023 17:35

in stitches at the but Westminster replies! Christ alive if a swarm of midges ate some people alive on the shores of Loch Lomond it would still be Westminsters fault!

Course it would be. It's so scary that some people are SO blinkered and SO brainwashed to believe that all Tories are evil people, probably criminals too, and all the SNP politicians are amazing, altruistic people who are salt of the earth. It's poisonous and divisive thinking. Our lot = good. Your lot = bad.

Can't people see that this way of thinking and not just accepting that it's perfectly OK to vote a certain way or believe a certain thing is toxic?
