@KnittingNeedles I'm just referring to an earlier post where someone mentioned Kate F, initially I thought she was great but then she said things that raised a few red flags!!
It does seem like there's an axe to grind at play here-the rumours about the £600k have been dismissed for years. To be fair absolutely any use of money raised from members for independence campaigning by an independence party could be justified- day to day running of the party included.
There are people in the SNP and more in Alba who somehow think that they're betrayed by the inability to actually hold indyref 2 or to just declare independence randomly. This comes straight from that bitter and anti democratic playbook.

slowquickstep · 05/04/2023 15:13

This is a good day but long overdue. I hope Police Scotland get the truth but i doubt it.

Rainbowshit · 05/04/2023 15:14

I sometimes wonder what on earth it would take to get the penny to drop with hardcore nats. 🙈

@Rainbowshit I'm not delusional.... have you seen a forensic tent in Rishi Sunaks front garden? Or Matt Hancock? Boris?
It is extremely weird for such a tiny amount in an internal matter.

kelpie9 · 05/04/2023 15:15

All I can say to this sorry saga is " be sure your sins will find you out"

BigBoysDontCry · 05/04/2023 15:17

I think some of the people who raised the issue with the police were ordinary donators who were told their funds were for a specific purpose, which hadn't happened, and yet the money was gone from published accounts.

I don't think any amount of Father Ted like statements about it being "woven through the finances" is cutting it.

BigBoysDontCry · 05/04/2023 15:19

Well, when the police arrest you for something, there is no defence of "well Billy down the road did something as well" that absolves you from the crime you may have committed.

Independentscotland · 05/04/2023 15:22

Accounting rules for political parties are quite loose tbh. There’s no requirement to ring fence specific donations ( this information comes from an accountant btw).

ismu · 05/04/2023 15:23

@BigBoysDontCry the donations were supposedly for Indyref2, but it was obvious that was never going to happen with consent from WM.
The complainers are absolutely guaranteed to be zoomers who want independence declared now!! And secession from the UK.
The fact that there are 7 echoes the so called Alpha Bettys which kind of makes it plain where this comes from.
Police Scotland have no choice but to arrest in order to question and search premises etc but they don't decide on prosecution.

BigBoysDontCry · 05/04/2023 15:24

Whether there is a specific accounting requirement or not, donators were told what their donations were for.

Keep these posts coming, they are highly amusing.

Well then there's nothing for the police to have arrested PM for. After all your pal said so. 🙄

Don't get me wrong I'm not an independence supporter and I hate the SNP and I am sure the complainers have their own agenda. I have no sympathy for them chucking their money down a well. But it's dishonest at best.

PersonaNonGarter · 05/04/2023 15:27

Gosh @ismu if you have evidence of Rishi Sunak, Matt Hancock, or Boris committing fraud/theft I think we’d all be pretty excited to hear it.

ismu · 05/04/2023 15:30

@NowThatsWhatICall22 why do you find it amusing? I'm not judging either way. I absolutely support independence and think you'll find most people's minds aren't changed on that. No matter what's happened.
I'm sure we could find more than 7 complaints about the Tories I mentioned but none of them have been arrested yet??

PoBaFla · 05/04/2023 10:06

Well that explains the resignation, must have known it was coming

This^
The sudden resignation was very strange, particularly when she knew there was no natural successor and all her work towards Indy would likely go down the pan.
There had to be something big going on

That's my thoughts too. There had to be a reason for the hastiness to resign. Now we know there's been something behind it...

ismu · 05/04/2023 15:31

Hmm @PersonaNonGarter I seem to remember something about wallpaper... and something about non dom status... and PPE

ThatsGenderwang · 05/04/2023 15:32

What's with the loan that Murrell made to the SNP? That was a strange one, like he was lending himself his own salary for a while.

And there's the reckless statement about membership numbers. The actual fall that was happening (but that was obfuscated for a while) would have affected membership income - and that should show up in the accounts but oddly the detail is hard to identify in the accounts available.

On top of the uncertainty about just how the IndyRef2 £667k is accounted for in the accounts, it isn't just the forensic tent that seems strange.

Not a pal but the person just told me rules. Do you know otherwise? There’s been calls to tighten them up for political parties but they haven’t come to anything.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 seriously, are you being paid to make these comments?

Sunnyfunnytimes · 05/04/2023 15:39

I wondered if there was a thread on this, it’s quite shocking. Everyone knew rhere was anothe reason she suddenly resigned, and it wasn’t a good one, and then of course he went. This investigation has been going on for some considerable time. There is no way she could continue as it had to come out. I’m just surprised he tried to hang on like he did.

although everyone knew there was another reason, I honestly didn’t see this coming..

Sunnyfunnytimes · 05/04/2023 15:41

The forensic tent will just be to hide what they are taking and doing from prying eyes.

ismu · 05/04/2023 15:43

@NowThatsWhatICall22 you have a very strange sense of humour

Sunnyfunnytimes · 05/04/2023 15:45

Also he’s been arrested and is being held in custody. I don’t think charged at this stage, but it’s not like he’s gone in for some voluntary questions to help with their enquiries, he’s actually been arrested.
