I'll put my hand ✋️ up and say a massive thank you to all the people who out voted me!!

SirChenjins · 16/04/2023 09:34

Sugarfree23 · 16/04/2023 08:56

It's not just the result of a one party state, it's the result of two people having far too much control and nobody else being able to criticise or rebel against that leadership.

Very very frightening how much control was in the hands of a couple of people. How they were so single track minded that so much stuff is in a complete mess.

Oh absolutely - it’s felt very close to a dictatorship at times

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 16/04/2023 09:35

It also feels like the villa in Portugal details are being included to reinforce the fact that the Murrells are champagne socialists, just like the rest of them, yet most of the tenure was spent with the act of the ‘hard done by Scot, punished by the Tories in the 80s/90s, we are humble, people in Scotland suffer under Westminster, blah, blah, rant, rant etc, etc’.

People don’t see the neglect in the constituencies by the gravy train passengers, those who are only in it for themselves and actually don’t care whether there’s real issues impacting those who voted for them. As long as they’re calling out Westminster it appeases the sheeple and buys into the narrative they are serving Scotland better (see: ‘free stuff’). They are no better and relatively speaking they are much worse, as the population of their council area to govern is much less than the rest of the U.K. It’s just a lot of people have fallen for the speeches and the image. Sad times ahead for Scotland.

KnittingNeedles · 16/04/2023 09:37

Well she's not wrong that she has a leak in the NEC, is she? Because one of her "faithful" has sent the video of her basically telling them all to shut up, stop asking questions and toe the line to the papers.

Northernsouloldies · 16/04/2023 09:52

It's all coming out now. The dictatorship style and she who must never be questioned that was never a way a govt should be working too. The word maniac springs to mind.

NicolaSturGONE · 16/04/2023 11:52

I am very much enjoying this 🍿

BlueThursday · 16/04/2023 11:55

I have to be honest I kind of only saw the SNP/SG as inept, not corrupt.

this must be an eye opener for their actual voters and fans

SirChenjins · 16/04/2023 12:00

My uncle who is a super fan (aka a rabid nationalist for whom the SNP can do no wrong whatsoever ‘cos independence) has gone very, very quiet on the issue. He’s normally very quick to share political memes on our family chat whenever one of the other parties misbehaves, but funnily enough, no memes about camper vans have been forthcoming! Probably thinks it’s a WM/RWM slur.

guinnessguzzler · 16/04/2023 12:04

Agree @BlueThursday I was the same. And whilst I'm not a fan of the SNP or independence, actually it really is disappointing to see they are just like all the rest. If we must have independence (which I do now think will at least be decades away, where last year it felt imminent and inevitable) I don't actually want Scotland to fail. It just all seems incredibly odd at this point.

annabelindajane · 16/04/2023 12:16

SNP weren’t really on my radar until Alex Salmond said 100 dollar barrels of oil would support Scotland when we were independent . Knew he’d been a banker and lived in N E Scotland where everyone knows oil goes up and down and is not to be depended on so he was openly spouting nonsense that the party faithful fell for and that nearly took us all down a road to utter financial misery .

Its on BBC News Yousaf is claiming the Books balance.
Do we believe him?

well they might balance but that balance might be zero. And the outgoings might be on stuff that the party didn't benefit from. It's says nothing really and maybe the truth.

readsalotgirl63 · 16/04/2023 12:52

So if Angus Mcdonald has resigned from the SNP does that mean there will be a bye- election in his seat ?

readsalotgirl63 · 16/04/2023 12:57

Sorry - just read he is no longer an MSP.

BigBoysDontCry · 16/04/2023 12:58

No unless he has resigned as an MSP. Although people stand under a party banner, they are elected as individuals so he will sit either as an independent or under another party should he choose to join one.

Then the electorate can decide if they want to vote for him or vote for whichever candidate SNP field for that seat in the next election.

I think...

BigBoysDontCry · 16/04/2023 12:58

Oh well, took too long to type lol

The SNP have always been economical with the truth.

We saw that during indyref, we saw it many times in the run up to this current fiasco.

The problem is if you put people on pedestals, and wheesht away all criticism, they think they can get away with it. Until they can't...

They've always been economical with the truth. Riddled with corruption and cronyism.

Why do Scottish voters never learn? They let Labour get away with it for years, now they've repeated history with the SNP.

How can he know the books balance if they have not been audited

SirChenjins · 16/04/2023 14:01

Because Youseless said do of course. In the same way he knew nothing about the auditors having resigned 6 months ago - if he says some out must be true.

Did he say the SNP finances had “never been in a stronger financial position than it is right now” and that people “should be very careful with suggestions that there are problems with the parties finances”?

Shelefttheweb · 16/04/2023 14:24

“And that include Alison”

Thanks @BigBoysDontCry that's what I thought. I hadn't realised he had stepped down before the 2021 election - I was obviously getting over excited at the prospect of 2 bye elections and the furore that would cause.

Northernsouloldies · 16/04/2023 15:56

The Snp are steeped in secrecy and that's nothing new. If questions get a bit tricky the way out has been outright evasion. The fuck ups and cover ups know no bounds.
