Why were the police removing teabags and milk from the house?

Merrilydancing · 07/04/2023 06:36

Police cut backs, can’t afford their own!

Workerbeep · 07/04/2023 07:45

I’m sure I read that Nicola Sturgeon was acting treasurer of the SNP NEC between Chapman and Beattie. Their hubris knows no bounds.

KnittingNeedles · 07/04/2023 08:20

Even when I was chair of the local playgroup/preschool we couldn't have a husband and a wife on the committee with access to the bank account because of concerns about fraud and conflict of interests.

This really is incompetence on a massive scale.

Claridges12 · 07/04/2023 10:20

She got out JUST in time to get her continuity candidate the top job before the truth came out, so that the country remains in the control of the same small group of friends. It's a deep betrayal of the Scottish people.

SirChenjins · 07/04/2023 12:16

Absolutely agree @Claridges12 - I’m sure this has been planned for a very long time.

Oh look…the plot thickens…

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65212357

bit late for them to be bailing now…they have signed off the accounts already haven’t they?

the plot doesn’t just thicken, it’s already a tar! What the heck is unravelling?

Who'd want to touch this now ?

SirChenjins · 07/04/2023 13:01

Ooft - Johnston Carmichael! Wonder what they missed in their audits? 😂

TheBelmont · 07/04/2023 13:01

Johnstone Carmichael have been SNPs accounts for 10 years…which has to call into question why they were fine signing them off last year…the £600k fiasco has been rumbling on since before the last financial year.

It's just all so murky.

Northernsouloldies · 07/04/2023 18:35

It's hardly surprising when sturgeon acted with impunity and no one ever disagreed with her. She's no better than a tinpot dictator that never hears the word No. The snp govt steeped in secrecy.

Sugarfree23 · 07/04/2023 21:45

The Auditors resignation has flummoxed me, do you think they have tipped of the police ?

I can't see how else they maintain professional integrity.

SirChenjins · 07/04/2023 22:18

They wouldn’t have been actively looking but if they came across something untoward then yes, they would have reported it to the police. Interesting times!

Staggie · 07/04/2023 22:34

But the accounts have always been signed off ? And they gave notice to step away last year?

Hedjwitch · 08/04/2023 09:14

Agree with pp that Johnston Carmichael have been SNP auditors for years but only now they decide to walk away? Coincidence?

PoBaFla · 08/04/2023 09:28

Where did you see that info? Everything I've read says SNP declined to comment on when Johnson Carmichael resigned and they are now currently undertaking a tendering process for new auditors.

Staggie · 08/04/2023 09:38

It was actually on BBC news twitter - 'the BBC understands the auditors stepped down before Murrell was taken in' or words to that effect.

Staggie · 08/04/2023 09:39

Here it is . . the BBC contradicting itself.

Sturgeon's husband arrested.
PoBaFla · 08/04/2023 09:44

yes I saw that but that could mean just in last couple of weeks. I hadn't seen anything relating to them having given notice last year.

Staggie · 08/04/2023 10:34

I'll try find it later.

They could have tipped off the police (which they will have processes for with regards to money laundering) and also signed off the accounts though. They might have been instructed to sign them off as part of the investigation- if you suspect money laundering breaches you cannot tip off the person (organisation) committing the breaches. That in itself is a breach of money laundering laws.

Not saying that's the case here, but it could be.

Sugarfree23 · 08/04/2023 11:01

@tigger1001 thanks for that explanation. I never knew how that stuff worked but I did wonder if they'd tipped off the police
