She stepped in after a public outcry - let’s stick to the facts.

The SNP govt sets out policy and the courts then work within that. Again, let’s stick to the facts - the SNP is ultimately responsible for men being housed in the female estate.

Just catching up with all of this, so for those familiar with the legal system, what does released pending further investigation, is this fairly normal or just a way to quietly walk away?

Just don’t want to get my hopes up that finally the house of cards is starting to fall.

RosesInWater · 05/04/2023 21:16

Am I naive in thinking that anything of any incriminating value would have been removed from their properties before now.

They can only hold in custody 24 hrs prior to charging. Release pending further investigation means they need to go through evidence gathered before deciding if charging or not. Its normal for cases where they need to do more evidence reviewing which they gathered a lot of today.
It can go 2 ways either they will charge or case will be dropped.

@SirChenjins as I understand it court service decide which prison people are sent to initially than it's SPS who decide where they will be longer term
Scottish Govt stepped in to prevent trans women being sent to a the female estate after the row, and Sturgeon made clear Isla/Adam wouldn't serve time in the female estate
but again that doesn't fit the #SNPbad agenda some people on here like to push

No, they said that transwomen would be sent to the male estate INITIALLY.

Honestly though, when you’re arrested and held in custody for questioning and the police get the shovels out to dig up your back garden and worse are seem to be bagging stuff up and taking away the stuff they found buried in your back garden, it’s highly unlikely to go well for you

and due to the level of public interest in this, and the profile of rhe folks involved, then the hurdle to jump to undertake that operation Today and get what would have been very senior sign off, would have been very very high indeed. Much higher than what would be required for any of us.

that operation wasn’t done lightly. No local sergeant signed that off. That was approved at the very top and folks like the home secretory and prime minister would have fully known in advance and why. The new snp leader might not of known but you can bet good money sunak and braverman did. And a whole host of civil servants in Westminster.

sturgeons spokespersons statement is also very very clever. Ever a politician, she said she had no prior knowledge of the police actions or intentions to arrest him. That would be factually correct. It doesn’t mean she didn’t know about the case, and know it was now going to progress or that it was very likely, in fact almost guaranteed to get to this stage . The statement plays semantics. All she’s basically said is. I didn’t know they were planning to arrest him today when I resigned.

there is much more going on behind the scenes here than is being told to the public. Much more.

Oh yes much more going on, the snp are secretive. We only have to look at the fuck ups and cover ups and there have been plenty.

ThatsGenderwang · 06/04/2023 00:44

It could be anything white collar. I mean, it could be something as clumsily 'Al Caponish' as salary inflation and/or bank balance exaggeration to obtain mortgages for a wee property empire in a naughty way.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 06/04/2023 07:12

The big question is will Isla Bryson be sharing a cell with Peter or Nicola?

It’s all so very confusing.

KnittingNeedles · 06/04/2023 08:11

I feel sorry for the neighbours - no idea of their exact address but I think it's out Stepps way. The street is full of police, and tents, and media, and the wee woman next door is just trying to get to Tesco and have her mum round for a cuppa.

SirChenjins · 06/04/2023 08:28

Love it! 😂

Perhaps the police search was for a stolen case of Caramel Wafers?

The complaint was brought by Sean Clerkin and investigations have been going on for a long time.

Mebbes it was the mortal remains of Sean Clarkin the polis were burying under wee Nic’s BBQ? You’d hardly blame someone at Polis Scotland for finally going full on set phasers to malky on him.

The tent oot back could be a kind of quid pro quo between the polis and our former FM. You ignore the fact Sean Clarkin is pushing up the daisies in your back yard, and we’ll ignore your husband’s <redacted> kinda thing.

KnittingNeedles · 06/04/2023 10:11

No no no @Namechangedatheist - nationalist never buy Tunnocks as they have the union flag on their packaging

Survey99 · 06/04/2023 13:05

Where the hell is Sturgeon? She should get her arse in gear and do the media rounds she normally does.

Surely that is obvious? It is a criminal investigation that could go to trial. With her close ties to it she will probably not be legally allowed, or advised, to comment on it until it is completed in case it is seen as trying to influence an outcome. Most likely if will be many months before there is a conclusion and any comments.

Many months without having to see Strugeon on a podium, in front of a camera or interview popping up sounds pretty blissful to me!

It’s true - they were on the Nats naughty list after they came out in favour of remaining in the UK.! Wish I could remember who the others were - it was bonkers

KnittingNeedles · 06/04/2023 14:08

Highland Spring, Baxters, Barrhead Travel, Walker's Shortbread, Mackie's confectionery - anything with a union flag on it whether it is made in Scotland, England, or China.

Oh that is an interesting read, so an initial report went to the PF a few months ago, think we are getting closer to the real reason NS resigned.

You hit the nail on the head there. She got out before things started getting hot. Pair of them are so corrupt.
