Absolutely @mapleleavesreturn. The policy applies both to NHS funded procedures and those paying privately, so they can't even argue that it's about prioritising public funds. It's about controlling people, pure and simple, and I find it really sinister.

mapleleavesreturn · 04/03/2022 09:53

Wow, I had no idea they'd enforced this in the private sector too, appalling.

FoxyFoxyLoxy · 04/03/2022 10:49

@ResilienceWanker

That sounds crazy foxy ( but Grin at ffs masks)! But also, ooooh, how exciting!

I wonder if they would have the same restrictions in England, or if Big Film is the same worldwide? Can't risk Brad Pitt getting covid... Would be too expensive (or whoever a generic Star is now... I'm so out of touch. Had a weird conversation with DS yesterday when I was totally confusing Tom Holland with Tom Hollander before realising they are not the same).

Hello tits! Hope you're doing OK Smile

I did laugh at that inverted saltire thing. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall in the SG PR office when that was pointed out. Those pesky saints, hey... Bet they are now looking for a new patron Saint of Scotland given Andrew is also the Russian Patron Saint...

No "big stars" there when we were filming, and they keep the extras well away from them anyway. All filming was outdoors.

Yes it's exciting - in parts - but SO much hanging around between takes. Literally spend 5 seconds walking along the road then 30 minutes standing freezing while they set up to go again. Not great on Bothwell Street at 4am when it's -2C.

I think it is partly a perception thing, they can't risk any bad PR from journalists spotting people working with no masks or whatever. The shooting location was very public and although there were barriers to keep out the general public there were people hanging out of windows with phones and filming on phones from behind the barriers. If it was a closed set inside a building or whatever I'd imagine they wouldn't be as bothered.

(Inside scoop - Batgirl has very cool gold Doc Marten boots).

ResilienceWanker · 04/03/2022 11:01

Agreed... I can see that being one of the rules/ pieces of guidance/ policies that never gets revoked, so potentially affecting thousands of couples, for no reason other than a vague "we know best" statement, with no opportunity to challenge that. Angry Have signed...

Obviously very different in scope, but a similar idea to the no drinking on trains, cancelling various bits of public transport, online everything for public/ government services and so on. It's like we will have to campaign for so much stuff to be brought back, when it was initially just removed "for your own good, just for a short while... Oh, no, actually lots of people have said they prefer it like this, so we won't bother bringing it back". It just feels so draining.

ResilienceWanker · 04/03/2022 11:06

Yes, that makes sense foxy! DH was an extra artiste in something when he was at school. Nothing blockbustery, but a BBC thing filmed where he lived, and said very much the same. Lots of waiting and tweaking for very little actual doing. Don't think he did 4am though Shock That is serious dedication to your Art.

mibbelucieachwell · 04/03/2022 11:42

Quality railing! From serious principles being squashed with no debate to trivial but very irritating film industry stuff. And it's currently sunny. Am getting a Friday feeling fellow railers. Grin

imstilljenny2 · 04/03/2022 11:45

@FoxyFoxyLoxy I think the film industry world wide is super strict on covid regulations. My BIL is a cameraman in Lots Angeles and regularly works in the film industry. The whole crew get a PCR (not an LFT) daily! FFP2 masks at all times even outside. I think the restrictions in his work have affected his mental health to be honest-he hasn't eaten inside a restaurant or allowed anyone outside his family in his home for two years. He is completely obsessed with covid.

ResilienceWanker · 05/03/2022 17:59

In good news, the SG have reversed their IVF policy. Wonder if they had just forgotten about it til all the focus on it late last week?

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 05/03/2022 21:13

has anyone else not heard from their dentist since before the pandemic? Normally I'd get check up appointments sent to me but have heard nothing and I don't know what the status is on dentists. is it just mine who have been totally silent?

WoodstockJ · 05/03/2022 21:23

I had a check up 6 months ago and another last week. Had to call them to get the first one but got a routine reminder for last week.
It was really busy last week too, the waiting room was packed out!

ResilienceWanker · 05/03/2022 22:19

I was phoning our dentist every 3 months or so from about Jan 21 to check what the deal was on routine checks... Kept being told, "no, not yet unless you're having problems, we'll send you a reminder" ... Until about February, when they said "yes, we can make you an appointment - when would you like?" May or may not have just got in before they sent a reminder, but at least we got something, albeit with a few weeks wait for our preferred time/ day - finally saw them last week. So it may be worth checking with yours, as ours have been totally silent throughout too apart from where I contacted them... (interestingly, the dentist we left about 5 years ago for being shit have been emailing me checkup reminders since about November - they don't seem to have updated their records because they were shit and I was almost tempted to take them up on the offer...)

I’m similar told not to keep phoning they will contact me . It’s worrying .

Not a peep. They have still got the doors locked and the blinds pulled down to kid on they are shut.

I phoned the other day and got a message "Due to the ongoing pandemic and staff shortages we are seeing emergency patients ONLY".

Hmm
RaraRachael · 06/03/2022 10:25

I got an appointment in December, 18 months after my original one and was told my next one would be in a year's time, rather than the usual 6 months. No idea what they're spending all their time doing tbh Confused

LizzieMacQueen · 06/03/2022 10:30

My surgery phone line is also going to voicemail but they don't phone back! It's a joke.

mapleleavesreturn · 06/03/2022 12:19

V glad to see that reversal of the ivf decision @ResilienceWanker

My nhs de rust decided to go private a year ago and unsurprisingly their admin has been very good since then.

Cismyfatarse · 06/03/2022 13:38

My MiL came out of hospital after a stroke 4 months before the first lockdown. Although 88 and on multiple medications she is "not an emergency" so they phone occasionally but the GP only sees urgent cases and, according to the receptionist, this is not her.

Scianel · 06/03/2022 13:48

Has anyone seen this? A woman was accused by senior hospital staff at the QEUH of trying to kill her own daughter, because she raised concern about hygeine issues while her daughter, who has cerebral palsy, was in hospital being treated.
I'm not easily shocked but bloody hell.

Scianel · 06/03/2022 13:50

I've been lucky with my dentist, they've been open since after the original lockdown if memory serves although I had to pay privately for a couple of things that I would normally get done at NHS prices.

They are largely a private practice though, I'm really really lucky to be on their NHS list.

ssd · 06/03/2022 20:35

What I don't get is, I'm desperate to get a crown replaced, my dentist said it'll be month's waiting on the nhs but privately he can do it within weeks. How does that work??

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 06/03/2022 20:50

From what I can gather from my own dentist @ssd they are still restricted on what can be offered to nhs dental patients (or were a few months ago at least), the number of patients they can see in a day and the PPE available for NHS patients. They also have to leave a gap between patients, so all leading to reduced options and number of appointments available for nhs treatment. We switched to private in our practice (I appreciate not everyone has that option) and I was able to get aerosol treatments before they were allowed on nhs, basically because they could provide the necessary PPE for private work which wasn't available for NHS services.

WouldBeGood · 07/03/2022 11:09

Hi @ssd! Good to see you. Though the dentist thing is most annoying

mibbelucieachwell · 07/03/2022 11:27

Yaaay. @ssd is back.

The NHS/private dental thing is outrageous imo.

Dinoteeth · 07/03/2022 14:42

I haven't looked at the census - I bet DH hasn't either - but I think I might ask for a paper one.

WouldBeGood · 07/03/2022 15:33

Ordered my paper one today @Dinoteeth.

What a beautiful day it is. Less inclined to rail in this weather 😊
