As a complete subject change, I’m railing against my DCs’ inability to put anything in the bin, far less recycle it, despite being awash with the reduce, reuse, recycle message since they went to school 🤣

OP posts:
OnceUponAWhine · 01/03/2022 10:22

Ha, the other side of that is when the DC has had too much messaging- goes up to bins outside and then shouts me over to ask if the thing “is ok in this bin?” Or “where is the plastics bin?” (In the council park playground with one bin). Full bin- “where can I put it now?” It’s never an autonomous taskGrin

Dinoteeth · 01/03/2022 10:26

My 10yo stood with a weetabix covered tooth - what side of the bin does it go in?

It's hardly exactly recycling!

mapleleavesreturn · 01/03/2022 11:18

My 11 yo is happy to be an eco warrior as long as other people change their behaviour - so when I mention single use plastic and crisps, deafening silence. Daddy using soap instead of shower gel, absolutely!

Also praying for peace here too @Dinoteeth

mibbelucieachwell · 02/03/2022 11:48

My census link has just arrived. I'm going to request a paper copy and self-identify as gender critical.

I had a nice time doing a yougov survey of attitudes to covid policy this morning. There was a Q about trust in UK govt covid data and Scot Gov covid data. It was very satisfying to let the Scot gov know I have (slightly) more trust in the Uk data. The UK publishes more data so I feel that's fair.

WouldBeGood · 02/03/2022 13:42

That’s what I’m going to do with the census form @mibbelucieachwell, and I hope lord of people do.

mapleleavesreturn · 02/03/2022 14:41

Has anyone tried to book an appt for implant removal - total joke. Online booking form says check back later, no appointments. No idea when to check back so waiting on phone line for 15 mins so far....

Wish I'd never had it put in!

mapleleavesreturn · 02/03/2022 14:52

Gave up after a half hour wait - well I really hope my gp resumes the contraceptive stuff soon!

mapleleavesreturn · 02/03/2022 14:54

Then phoned gp surgery and they are only taking urgent cases this week so couldn't book cervical smear. Amazing!

RaraRachael · 02/03/2022 19:09

My friend phoned GP to get an appointment in the Easter holidays so that she wouldn't need to take time out of school and would have plenty of chance to get one. Nope - you can only get an appointment on the day. We have to face 30 kids each day for hours on end so why can't doctors see individual patients for 5/10 minutes?

WouldBeGood · 02/03/2022 19:36

It’s just ridiculous. GPs are pretty much a disgrace just now

Using SNP outdated propaganda to recruit census staff:

That's crazy mapleleaves and rara. How are we still being given such poor service?!

We've just had a fun family trip to the dentist... First since 2019 for DH and early 2020 for me and DS. We were all kind of relieved to find nothing had gone horribly wrong in the intervening period. The dentist was doing really well hiding her frustration at all the things she wasn't allowed to do, and was just keeping her fingers crossed their guidance relaxed soon so they could do something to get through their backlog of routine appointments like us...all needing a bit of a polish, xrays updating etc after 2 years of nothing.

The census is doing my head in at the moment binbandit. There's the obvious "you can just self identify, it's fine (as long as its only on the sex question... Everything else needs to be totally factual or we'll fine you £1000") thing of course... but loads of the other questions are really intrusive and limiting too. I really struggle to see how they will provide any useful data for planning if they know how many people speak Scots, or who identifies as Scottish vs "other". Plus, I really, really don't trust them with my data, frankly. Why should I tell them the address of DSs school when they have shown no ability or intention to keep other things we have told them confidential. Like the "anonymous" school "health and wellbeing survey" which is quite openly not anonymous at all, and they are totally able to trace back responses "for safeguarding purposes". But at least that is optional...

All the fucking Gaelic on the envelope is annoying me enough

It really is madness to phone on the day at this stage rara it's been a lottery for so long.

Scottishskifun · 03/03/2022 01:29

I've definitely found GPs to be hit and miss ours is terrible for getting seen even other HCP which run out of it (medical centre) are frustrated with them! But one in the next town sees people no problem.

GPs have been paid crazy money per hour to do covid jabs (dentists too) I know our practice ran a reduced staff for quite sometime because of this!

mibbelucieachwell · 03/03/2022 12:23

Here's a chuckle for any railers who haven't heard. SG is stopping using the inverted saltire logo as it's the same as the Russian naval flag. 😆

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2022 15:10

😃 @mibbelucieachwell that’s most amusing!

Railing about the nonsense I have had to put up with at work the last few days. I have been working as an extra (sorry, background artiste) on a major film currently shooting in Glasgow. Around 40-50 of us "artistes". Later flow to be taken daily, upload a picture of your test online. (how do you prove it was actually you who took the test?) Arrived yesterday, take another lateral flow AND a PCR. Covid marshalls wandering around insisting we all wear the FFS (or is it FFP? same thing anyway) white cone masks AT ALL TIMES indoors, while seated. Woman I was working with who is an NHS nurse quite reasonably points out that masks do not require to be worn while seated in restaurants/pubs and is told "this is different". FFS masks only. Cloth/blue surgical absolutely unacceptable. Many of the crew wearing their FFS masks while cutting around outside. Hmm Mass disobedience from the "artistes" who obediently wore the provided FFS masks until they'd left and then removed them. And ignored the sanitiser plonked on the tables and the big "Covid Aware" signs everywhere.

Seriously, it was insane. Especially given as we'd all had to upload proof of vaccination status to even be offered the work, and everyone had to have had 2 jags plus booster. Over-zealous doesn't even cover it.

FoxyFoxyLoxy · 03/03/2022 16:49

Although having said that there was one woman in her 30s who refused to board the coach with the rest of us because of Covid. Hmm

titsintiers · 03/03/2022 19:41

Ah, I found you all. Hello again 👋🏻

WouldBeGood · 04/03/2022 08:57

@FoxyFoxyLoxy that’s just insane!

That sounds crazy foxy ( but Grin at ffs masks)! But also, ooooh, how exciting!

I wonder if they would have the same restrictions in England, or if Big Film is the same worldwide? Can't risk Brad Pitt getting covid... Would be too expensive (or whoever a generic Star is now... I'm so out of touch. Had a weird conversation with DS yesterday when I was totally confusing Tom Holland with Tom Hollander before realising they are not the same).

Hello tits! Hope you're doing OK Smile

I did laugh at that inverted saltire thing. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall in the SG PR office when that was pointed out. Those pesky saints, hey... Bet they are now looking for a new patron Saint of Scotland given Andrew is also the Russian Patron Saint...

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 04/03/2022 09:25

This petition popped up in my Twitter feed earlier. In amongst all the noise of having the harshest restrictions in the UK (and yet also somehow the worst infection rates), hundreds of prisoners being released early without being properly assessed, and the ongoing campaign to deny women of their basic sex-based rights, I had completely forgotten that Scotland was also the only part of the UK to deny women fertility treatment based on vaccination status. In some cases, women have been part way through the process and had all procedures pulled in what can only be described as coercion. The policy was supposed to have been reviewed by now, but I'm sure it will surprise no-one to learn that it hasn't been, and more likely has been quietly forgotten about leaving women in limbo indefinitely. With the widening view that vaccine mandates are not only immoral but also probably illegal (even NZ has been forced to abandon them), and countries dropping them all over the place, there can be no justification for discriminating against the unvaccinated by holding their future fertility to ransom. It's not about whether you think vaccines are a good idea or not, it's about whether you believe that the person to make that decision should be the individual or the state, and personally I think it's a huge overstep by the Scottish administration.

mapleleavesreturn · 04/03/2022 09:34

One in a long series of them, I don't understand how scot gov can claim to be progressive on women's rights at all. 100 percent agree you
