I usually need to vote Tory to do that and I cannot bring myself to do that. Just call me meatloaf.

Also Nicola Sturgeon is a total fucking bint who can get tae.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 30/03/2022 19:28

The locals are full PR aren’t they? So you can rank as many candidates as you like 1,2,3 etc. and not rank those you hate at all.

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2022 19:30

I’m voting Tory cos women

Masks in schools is an absolute scandal. Kids barely feel ill so who are they protecting? All those in the community who don't have to wear masks.

I really hate the whole thing. Just wait until some wannabe council fucker knocks on my door.

  1. Masks. Why do you hate children?
  1. Women. Why don't you listen to women?
  1. Local old folks' day centre has been shut for 2 years. Because Covid. Meanwhile MiL is lonely and fed up. She was promised 2 days a week there 2 years ago. I am beyond furious about that too.

All of this. I’d absolutely love a toy town councillor to knock on my door😆 and I’ll double down on my shouty response if they bring Alyn-with a Y- Smith, our numpty MP with them for support.
Blimeyherewegoagain · 30/03/2022 20:20

The secret with the voting is to not list snp or the greens at all on your ballot paper. Number the rest in order of preference. It’s something to do with a transferable vote. Even if you put them at the bottom the vote might still be counted. Better to leave blank.

runningpink · 30/03/2022 20:36

Thanks for the voting tips, appreciate it

ssd · 30/03/2022 21:05

If you dont want to wear a mask dont wear it . No one cares.

CharityShopChic · 30/03/2022 22:59

Back from Hairspray in the Kings in Glasgow (amazing show by the way, loved it) and would estimate that despite announcements every 5 minutes before the show started reminding us that face coverings were a legal requirement unless exempt, about 20% of the audience had a mask on.

Nobody was checking, nobody was asking you if you had a covering to use or were exempt.

We were at the same theatre in December for the panto and I'd estimate that at that point, around 75% - 80% were wearing a mask.

Changed days indeed.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 30/03/2022 23:13

Well our leader went to a place where masks were optional and chose not to wear one. She obviously didn't feel it was necessary in order to protect herself, or those around her, or even to set an example as some might argue a leader should. Yet the next day she denies us the same privilege and respect she and citizens in all other parts of the UK are afforded. I suspect compliance levels will drop through the floor now.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/03/2022 06:41

@runningpink if you search for your local authority's council election t results from 2017 it should tell you who the councillors are for each ward and how many votes you have. If you want to vote tactically against the SNP govt then look at how the other parties (excluding the Greens) did. It'll give you an idea of which ones beat the SNP last time or came closest to them and you can use that to order your preferences.

runningpink · 31/03/2022 06:51

Thanks @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I will take a look later.
When will there be an election to actually hopefully get rid of Nicola? I’m assuming a while yet. 😩

runningpink · 31/03/2022 06:51

@CharityShopChic that’s reassuring to hear more and more people are ditching the pointless things!

WouldBeGood · 31/03/2022 08:01

Pleased to hear that @CharityShopChic. Even on my normally 100% masked sainsburys the other day there were quite a few unmasked.

It really is the height of hypocrisy, her behaviour. Surely even the faithful must question now?

Hi, @ssd! 😊

I have definitely seen mask use declining over recent weeks. Locally, people are still fairly compliant. But even the most ardent mask-wearer I know said last week when I was volunteering with her that she didn't see the point as we'd both had covid the week before.

ssd · 31/03/2022 08:58

Hi @WouldBeGoodSmile
I was very into masks as i felt they kept me a bit safer in the shop i work in, with customers in my face so often. But after reading about the blue masks shredding fibres that goes into your lungs if worn for too long, i don't wear them now as i don't trust them. I really dont care whether nicola sturgeon wears one or not, I'd like to see an independent Scotland one day to get away from the tories, but not necessarily with the snp in charge. Maybe some folk follow everything they do religiously but I've never met them. Everyone i know is doing what suits them personally now, no one really cares too much whatever the Scottish or Westminster governments say. There's been too much shite from both of them to really take them too seriously, although claiming the tories know what a woman is ,is a stretch too far for me @WouldBeGood, still vive la difference!

Anyway, I'm railing about the weather, whats going on?!? We've got a layer of snow outside yet were sunbathing at the weekend, the world's gone mad and the weather's joining inConfused

Tiredoftiers · 31/03/2022 11:52

Weathers a bit different now. My Dc's shorts and t shirts are blowing around on the line with a few flakes of snow drifting down around them. Off to school in winter jackets and woolly hats this morning.

WouldBeGood · 31/03/2022 12:36

Mad world, mad weather indeed!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 31/03/2022 13:44

Just back from the supermarket and deliberately didn't wear a face covering to see what would happen. I felt a bit self conscious as probably 80% of people were wearing them, but overall noone cared. I wasn't challenged or tutted at, and indeed a few staff members were also maskless (including the security guard). It might sound a bit pathetic but the restrictions have had a seriously detrimental effect on my mental health, and taking back that tiny bit of control felt really therapeutic. Gave me some confidence to use my own judgement going forward.

mibbelucieachwell · 31/03/2022 14:01

Well done in this mad world @Y0uCann0tBeSer10us Feeling in control is vital to mental health. It's when we feel we have no control over things that mental health takes a hit. All yesterday afternoon I was angry and feeling badly treated by the SG. Totally get you.

When I look back at this time last year and the rest of the lockdown stretching ahead and my motivation to do anything getting less and less, worrying about getting up to see the old folks, worrying about the economy and my son's chances of getting work when he graduated. I sprained my ankle leaping out of the way of another pedestrian. Got eczema for the first time in 50 years. Felt guilty for overeating, felt guilty about pushing the boundaries of the rules to see my DD, felt guilty that I wasn't using the time to learn a new skill, felt deeply sorry for everyone in much worse circumstances than me. We need to move on from this culture of being cautious and on our guard and live life to the full. I'm naturally a cautious worrier anyway, I don't need constant reminders and ridiculous rules. Being made to wear masks isn't healthy.

Justmuddlingalong · 31/03/2022 14:07

I got caught in the rain today so jumped on the bus to get home. I had a mask in my pocket. I left it there and nobody batted an eyelid. So, that's it. That's me done with them.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 31/03/2022 14:12

Totally agree @mibbelucieachwell, it's the culture of caution that is deeply unhealthy at this point, when COVID is less dangerous than flu and even Devi admits it's been defanged. Keeping people constantly on edge isn't good for them mentally or physically and that's all these symbols like masks and signs everywhere are doing. Having practised CBT and anxiety management techniques for over a year now I recognise that the safety behaviours that people are engaging in at a societal level are just feeding anxiety, and actually the only way to heal mentally is to stop them, gradually if needs be, but they have to stop. People will never regain confidence while they're bombarded with messaging implying that they are unsafe or a risk to others.

[Obviously the usual caveats about clinically vulnerable people apply - but actually what they need isn't for everyone to wear make-shift face coverings which very obviously doesn't stop spread, they need high grade PPE to protect themselves]

GoldenOmber · 31/03/2022 15:22

You get the impression that the anxiety and sole focus on covid have become an end in themselves now, because they indicate we’re Taking It Seriously and that matters more than anything else.

I’m sure the government would prefer it if being anxious and Taking It Seriously meant lower case levels. But when that link doesn’t happen, it feels like they would find a situation in which we have 20k cases a day but we’re all masked and LFTing and avoiding crowds, preferable to a situation where we have 5k cases a day but nobody cares about it.

CharityShopChic · 31/03/2022 15:50

I was in Tesco today without a mask - not entirely deliberately. I forgot to grab one out of the car and realised as I got to the door.

Thought fuck it, went in and grabbed what I needed, paid and left. Nobody looked at me, nobody asked me where my mask was, nobody cared.

It was liberating!

ssd · 31/03/2022 17:28

Glad to see posters are feeling more empowered, if thats the right word. More confident is maybe better.
