@QueenWatevraWaNabi

Just seen on the BBC that John Swinney has covid. Which makes me wonder whether Nicola Sturgeon is hoping to have caught it from That There Dirty London to justify ongoing measures.
What a shame, real shame it didn't happen when the lock yourself in a room for 10-14 days get fed through a cat flap rules weren't still in place.

@NowThatsWhatICall22

Anyone seen that new ScotGov/NHS public service ad about GP Receptionists? I have so many problems with it- for starters, it suggests that the receptionist is running a triage system, where they can determine from your answers to their questions exactly where your query should be directed. The first example is ‘optometrist’ then ‘physio’ another is ‘pharmacist’. The fourth option is GP (yes, that far down the list), but presumably you’ve phoned the doctors surgery because you’d like a doctor or the practice nurse to assess you? The ad claims YOU ask them a few questions-in confidence- as they are trained to, I quote, “guide you to the right care, in the right place” Based on what? So if you phone with a leg complaint, the gatekeeper GP receptionist guides you to a physio appointment? Erm, that you can only get on a waitlist with a referral from your GP?

What a strange advert. What is its purpose? Be kind to the receptionist or listen to the receptionist, because only they can decide if you’re worthy of an appointment with the GP?
The mind boggles.

When you phone our GP you get a long message....

If your condition is life-threatening, please hang up and dial 999. If you have a problem with your eyes, please contact your optician. If you have a problem with your teeth, please contact your dentist.

Etc Etc.

I mean, who'd have thought to call the dentist about a sore tooth? Hmm

patritus · 30/03/2022 16:45

@CharityShopChic

Well clearly the 18th April is a lot closer to the elections on 5th May. Saint Nicola, seeing us safely through Covid and being different, more caring, more PRUDENT than that nasty Boris needs to be forefront in people's minds.

This decision has zero to do with science or public health. She's playing politics, as she has throughout.

But on the other hand people should be asking why Scotland is still in the situation to need face masks when so many other countries are not 🤷🏼‍♀️
See not just England wales and N Ireland but also France, Germany, Rep of Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland......

RaraRachael · 30/03/2022 16:48

@UnctuousUnicorns

Well why I am not frigging surprised! 🙄 She can stick her "not till April 18th" up her rear end, and ram her bloody tartan mask up there after it while she's at it. While I remain resolutely mask free. Oh well, off to England on Saturday for two weeks, thank fuck.
Couldn't have put it better myself.

Those who want to wear them can continue to do so, but the rest of us should just say enough is enough and ditch the bloody things.

I will be incandescent with rage if we have to continue wearing them in schools after Easter

runningpink · 30/03/2022 16:52

I’m totally done with it all. I have already stopped wearing a mask in supermarkets but will also no longer be wearing elsewhere.

She is a lying cow, a hypocrite, a control freak, I could go on

It’s time to stand up for ourselves and live again

Enough is enough especially when the mask do bugger all. I do fear it will take a long time for those who have been brainwashed to come round though

Now just need the damn things to go on planes and we are sorted 🤞🏻

patritus · 30/03/2022 16:56

And just to top it all, Larry Flannigan has said he wants face masks to stay in schools after 18th........

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 30/03/2022 17:00

If your condition is life-threatening, please hang up and dial 999. If you have a problem with your eyes, please contact your optician. If you have a problem with your teeth, please contact your dentist.

Automated triage🤪 The thing is, you can’t even phone your dentist if you have a problem with your teeth and require an appointment before Christmas.

Feels like the ad is a sneaky way of messaging to change our expectations of a GP. So, go to the pharmacy with that ongoing headache which could be something else much more serious growing, but please don’t trouble the GP if you can stroll along to your pharmacy for paracetamol then you’re not really poorly enough to need a doctor’s appointment*?

*According to the receptionist who has guided you to the right place for the right care etc, etc.

Well, he can feck right off and then some more fuck off with that request.
GoldenOmber · 30/03/2022 17:04

He’s still grumpy that schools ever reopened in the first place.

QueenWatevraWaNabi · 30/03/2022 17:13

Couldn't agree more Dinoteeth. Would have been nice for him to get the full experience.

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 30/03/2022 17:31

And there you have it, Chris Musson pressed SG for an answer on school arrangements re masks post April 18th:

“Masks will still have to be worn by Scottish secondary pupils in communal areas after April 18 when the face coverings law is now due to be changed to advice, Scot Gov has just confirmed to us”

Wow, they must have some plan up their sleeve to release those young voters from masks just before the election and give them free stuff…probably. Why else would they keep this going?

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 30/03/2022 17:34

Just came on to post that @NowThatsWhatICall22

I am disgusted. I expect there will be a uturn on that at point for the election.

patritus · 30/03/2022 17:38

The trouble is they've brainwashed the kids.
I have one who still thinks she'll responsible for the death of a vulnerable teacher or pupil by not wearing her cloth facemask Hmm

Tiredoftiers · 30/03/2022 17:41

I think you meant to write damaged the children, with constant stress and worry.

Blimeyherewegoagain · 30/03/2022 17:43

The only good thing that might come out of this is that the SNP have severe losses in the council elections, because everyone is so fed up with this now.

patritus · 30/03/2022 17:44

Oh yes that too @Tiredoftiers

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2022 18:07

And so, Ms Sturgeon openly concedes that she has failed, by having greater economic damage, cases, and restrictions than almost anywhere. So we must keep the masks as a reminder of her failure.

Tactically what’s the best plan for voting in the upcoming elections to have the biggest impact on the SNP?
I’m clueless when it comes to all that stuff but I want to do my part in making things as difficult as i Can for her until we can also get rid of her.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 30/03/2022 18:16

Oh @runningpink I'm remember the last election someone done a thread on that. I found it really helpful. Not sure who it was but anyone who knows about this stuff it would be appreciated. If you can be arsed obviously

mapleleavesreturn · 30/03/2022 18:22

I had a local election guide but the dog ate it! I seem to think that you don't put any number for a party you definitely don't want as any preferences expressed numerically can count in close races.m

So, so glad we are escaping for a week somewhere sunny on Sunday.

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 30/03/2022 18:23

Well these are piddly council elections, but can still make your voice heard and send a message with your vote, it just won’t shift anyone on the top tier. They may, however, be v.worried about the unravelling of their personal brand and find a reason to step aside (complete with sob story/glossy mag interview). Then who will be our glorious leader- it makes me shudder.

Anyone else remember this time last year when we all voted against SNP, but it made no flipping difference because the masses still very much believed they were being saved and others thought it was the only path to an independent land of milk and honey. Sigh.

Calmdown14 · 30/03/2022 18:44

Well I'm so glad I've booked all my holidays in England again this year. This 'it's no real hardship' completely ignored the economic impact.
Bit like the Scottish government on most things really

RaraRachael · 30/03/2022 19:03

I will really enjoy spending next week on holiday in England and won't be wearing a mask on the train as it goes through Scotland.

Is there any info on mask wearing in Primary schools after the 18th - all I seem to hear about is in Secondary.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 30/03/2022 19:18

Fed up wearing masks now. I'm just back from London and the only time I wore a mask was on the tube and only so I didn't have to smell anyone! 😁

Back in Scotland and I'm back to getting the crumpled mask out my pocket to go into a shop
