Also really not going to cycle 10 miles along the dual carriageway to get into the office

IKeptYouLikeAnOath · 14/02/2022 14:19

And it's even more infuriating because we know what the government has spent on transport for themselves recently!

patritus · 14/02/2022 15:01

😂 I'm impressed with all the poetry skills! @Resiliencewanker yours is my favourite!

2022HereWeCome · 14/02/2022 16:41

Well I'm railing again as I've just had an email from the Usher Hall cancelling 'the Magic of Harry Potter concert' because of yes, you've guessed it, Covid ... the email says:

You may not have been aware but we have international cast and crew coming in for the production ... At any other time this would usually be without problem. However the various different restrictions across Europe are still having a huge impact on our full Spring 2022 tour going ahead, and we can’t get this show to happen as we would wish.

So I am now pissed off:

  1. because it is another thing DS was looking forward to which is now cancelled. Absolutely everything we have tried to do since last summer has been cancelled.
  2. we worked our Easter hols around going to this concert; we could've gone away for longer otherwise
  3. They have changed the show to a Tuesday night in Nov - a bloody school night when it is likely to be Covid central / new variant panic again.
mapleleavesreturn · 14/02/2022 17:12

Oh no! That's such a shame about the potter concert!!

2022HereWeCome · 14/02/2022 17:26

@mapleleavesreturn. I've just about had it with Covid now. Our entire family had Covid in Jan - so the fear factor has gone ...

mapleleavesreturn · 14/02/2022 17:30

Me too, after a further 3 weeks locked when most of us were well on about day 5 or so but went increasingly loopy, it's just ugh!

God only knows why spring theatre is being restricted for foreign performers presumably travelling for work!

WouldBeGood · 14/02/2022 17:38

@patritus yes, no valentines action for @Cismyfatarse 🤣

Coquohvan · 14/02/2022 20:02

Oh well dogged it’s thus far. Feeling rotten today PCR this afternoon.
Cold symptoms cough blocked up phlegm no temp or headache.
Now the wait begins pcr done this afternoon.

WouldBeGood · 14/02/2022 22:46

Oh no, @Coquohvan, hope you feel better.

Northern Ireland to remove all covid restrictions now. Guidance only. Masks and all.

Excellent news about NI. Surely Scotland can't continue being the outlier for much longer and will officially ditch the mask mandates. Unofficially many people already have - was out and about earlier today in a busy shopping centre in SL and no more than half of adults were wearing them. It gave me the confidence to ditch mine actually, which was feeling really repressive, and it was actually exhilarating to take back a bit of freedom and control over my own life! Once it's officially not against the rules to ditch them I reckon they'll fall away really quickly as I don't know a single person in RL who wouldn't rather be rid of the damned things.

RaraRachael · 14/02/2022 23:03

It was great being in England sans masks this weekend. Came all the way up on train to Aberdeen and hardly anyone wearing them of in shopping centre. I think it's time we all just stopped wearing them.

Justmuddlingalong · 14/02/2022 23:05

Ach, pish! DP's tested positive tonight, PCR booked for the morning. We had a family get-together at the weekend, used public transport, ate at restaurants and went to the pub. Tested negative both Saturday and Sunday mornings. He had an appointment about chest pain at the hospital tomorrow, so that'll need cancelled. He's just got a temperature, but feels guilty that he might have passed it on unwittingly.

Scottishskifun · 15/02/2022 03:52

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us would love it if the case but Humza article in the BBC hints otherwise with a "Scotland won't be forced due to England changes......." 🙄

Lockdownbear · 15/02/2022 07:37

They can probably flag wave with masks because they aren't costing ScotGov anything.
But free testing will go fairly soon after England. If people don't need to isolate then they don't need to know if it's covid or flu. So what's the point in spending £££ on tests that create a load of landfill.

Coquohvan · 15/02/2022 08:12

Well I’m positive feel like sh&t this morning my temp 40 oxygen 94

Give 111 a call and get assessed by the covid team. They will be able to put you through to a Dr via video call. It takes a while but is worth it as with your sat levels you might need steroids.(I did)

Also try to be as upright as possible including in bed and sleeping so besn bag or lots and lots of pillows it will help your oxygen levels.

IKeptYouLikeAnOath · 15/02/2022 09:56

Oh no @Coquohvan that sounds awful.

DS and I are positive too but don't feel too awful for now, keeping fingers crossed.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 15/02/2022 11:29

@Scottishskifun I saw that but I hope it’s more Brexit style ‘Scotland won’t be pulled out of the EU against its will’ type political posturing. Realistically, people up here are already openly questioning whether our enhanced restrictions were too much, and I can’t see them getting away with continuing with restrictions when everyone else in the UK has ditched them (and aren’t any worse off).
