Will it ever end?

Yep and the employment statistics are starting to show what effects the harsher restrictions have! Scotland had less people in employment compared to the rUK rising in employment! If there wasn't a key sign that the harsher restrictions are damaging not sure what other red flags the SG needs!

mapleleavesreturn · 15/02/2022 14:53

sorry to hear of yet more covid positives - definitely get help. Re the chest pain appt justmuddlingalong do check as I was seen for something else whilst covid positive, depends on how urgent the other condition a bit and the setting now.

BestKnitterInScotland · 15/02/2022 14:57

Is Herself making a (po-faced, grumpy, overly-cautious) statement today?

Scottishskifun · 15/02/2022 15:11

@BestKnitterInScotland

Is Herself making a (po-faced, grumpy, overly-cautious) statement today?
I think it will be next week as that's when they are due to set out their master plan.......
BestKnitterInScotland · 15/02/2022 15:34

So England has ended restrictions, Wales has ditched the covid passports, N Ireland has made everything recommendations not requirements - and Scotland? Still flowing before we're going and wearing our masks.

I was in touch with the archives at Edinburgh city chambers yesterday about some records I need access to. They have been closed for almost 2 years. If I want to see hte records I have to request them in advance, make an appointment to go to a different location (first is in 3 weeks time), sanitise, masks, social distance

The whole thing is a a nonsense now.

And is that the same "Master Plan" which involved chopping 3 inches off the bottom of classroom doors , @Scottishskifun?

WouldBeGood · 15/02/2022 15:48

She is handling this so badly. They look indecisive and anxious.

Does the SG pay for our free tests or are they uk provided?

OP posts:
BestKnitterInScotland · 15/02/2022 15:57

Doesn't really matter which budget it comes out of, every test is costing taxpayers £££.

WouldBeGood · 15/02/2022 15:58

Oh yes, I’m just wondering what will happen if they are stopped by WM

OP posts:
Scianel · 15/02/2022 16:03

I'm guessing SG will need to pay, and for retaining track and trace, and that's money that won't be going elsewhere where its presumably actually needed.

Cismyfatarse · 15/02/2022 16:07

And track and trace is useless. There is nothing, beyond being a good citizen, that keeps you in your house. And, if masks are so wonderful, why am I in my house with Covid? I am no longer particularly unwell. Just knackered.

Cismyfatarse · 15/02/2022 16:09

@Coquohvan

Well I’m positive feel like sh&t this morning my temp 40 oxygen 94 Just hope DH doesn’t catch it from me. Honestly thought I had a head cold 🤷‍♀️ Thanks *@Would*
So sorry to hear that. We found sore throat (about day 3) was worth having remedies for. But, no high temperature or anything too awful. Below 92% and the medical trial I am on want me to call in,
mibbelucieachwell · 15/02/2022 16:13

It's good to hear you're past the worst @Cismyfatarse .

I know it's easy for a randomer on an online site to say, but I'll say it again, rest as much as you can.

Cismyfatarse · 15/02/2022 19:10

@mibbelucieachwell Will do. Have done very little. Mostly moving from bed to chair to bed. I am lucky my DD and DS are young adults. Doing this with younger kids would be hard, especially at the age where they need to be entertained.

I wonder if Scotland will change the rules like NI.

WouldBeGood · 15/02/2022 21:17

Even Quebec is cancelling the vaccine passports

OP posts:
Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 16/02/2022 10:15

It's abundantly obvious now that while vaccines are very effective at preventing severe disease in those at risk of it, they make little difference to spread. With that in mind, I don't see how coercing people to get vaccinated in order to access society can possibly be justified, and I expect to see more countries dropping this requirement as they come out of panic mode and start thinking a bit more logically.

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2022 10:38

Apparently 91% of Scotland now above the UK average of infections. So our speshul extra protective measures are doing fuck all.

Cross.

Not even fuck all, actually causing damage. Very cross-making.

Cismyfatarse · 16/02/2022 11:42

Day 5 in Covid central and I am negative. DH positive. Hopefully this lets me out on Friday. Him on Saturday but.....

Tesco man was lovely! He dropped it on the drive but stayed to chat. Probably just a nice bloke but this tiny bit of human contact must be a lifeline for some.

Justmuddlingalong · 16/02/2022 11:48

DP on day 3, I'm still negative. 🤞
Bit confused about me isolating too, though. Emails I received say I've to isolate, but I thought that as long as I'm fully vaccinated and boostered, and have a negative lateral flow every day, I can go out if necessary. Can anyone clarify?

IKeptYouLikeAnOath · 16/02/2022 11:56

It definitely gives the impression that you need to isolate, but if you click through on one of the links it says you don't need to isolate if fully vaxxed and taking daily tests.

I think they really would prefer people to isolate so that's still the headline.

Also, just saw on the news that kids 5-11 will be offered the vaccine.

Lidlfix · 16/02/2022 11:56

DD3 now negative on day 6. Not that she'll get to her first uni ball or Valentine's dinner. Her 2nd Valentine's with her lovely BF and still not been able to celebrate it properly .

Would rail against Storm Dudley as the potential cause of disruption to my travel plans but that's not anyone's fault.

Justmuddlingalong · 16/02/2022 12:04

Thanks IKeptYou. I've no real need to leave the house, but I'm glad the option's there, if DP and the dressing gown of doom becomes too much.

mapleleavesreturn · 16/02/2022 13:26

it's quite strange how the emails and texts don't match the links when you click on them.

Well I won't be forming an orderly queue for the vaccine for my children, both of whom have had covid this month already!

IKeptYouLikeAnOath · 16/02/2022 13:32

Yes the information is a mess! I honestly spent so long googling and still not sure if I found the most up to date web page.

I'll get my daughter vaccinated as she's not too far off 12 anyway. My son has Covid same as me just now so it'll be a while for him.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 16/02/2022 13:34

Me neither @mapleleavesreturn. I've one in the 5-11 age bracket, and he's recently recovered from COVID so I don't feel he needs the vaccine. His illness lasted about 24 hrs incidentally, so even if he were to catch it again the chances of him being badly ill with it are very very slim. If the risk/benefit case was equivocal for older kids, I don't consider that the risks of COVID to a healthy younger child who has natural immunity and was even less at risk to start with outweigh the risks of the vaccine.
