It was clearly written on the assumption that people fear COVID and looking to see what restrictions they can get away with without too much backlash. No doubt having weighted the questions towards this (pick the restriction you mind the least ffs - shouldn't it be based on evidence of what is effective?), they'll them claim that most Scots don't mind masks and so we should keep them just in case. I told them in no uncertain terms that they need to get rid of all restrictions if we are to move forward and I find masks really oppressive and have avoided businesses/services where I would have to wear one for a long period of time.

In the 'what would make you feel safe/supported' box, I put that I wasn't scared of COVID but continuing restrictions made me feel unsafe, as did inadequate access to healthcare and a government that was set to give itself the power to do whatever it likes forever without having to justify it to anyone. Wish I'd thought of the single sex spaces thing (also thought police) as that also makes me feel unsafe. I've shared it around social media so that more people can have a say - don't think it's been very well publicised. If the responses don't go their way they'll just ignore them anyway of course, like the gender identity consultation.

mapleleavesreturn · 01/02/2022 10:31

That's it all over isn't it - what would make you feel safe because nobody believes or cares about facts anymore!

I'm not doing it, I have zero faith in their consultations - they are simply to cherry pick supporting evidence. 'Thanks for all the positive comments' type thing.

mapleleavesreturn · 01/02/2022 11:23

Exactly @Y0uCann0tBeSer10us we believe your views are sincerely heard but you're wrong.

Sorry gotten out of the cynical side of bed this morning!

Scottishskifun · 01/02/2022 11:30

I completed it and included a rant about how their language meant some members of the public felt justified in being abusive!

Power just back on here up in the North! Its been a hell of a weekend weather wise!
Very glad to have a log burner and gas stove given we had no power! The damage is insane we got off lightly compared to many!

IKeptYouLikeAnOath · 01/02/2022 13:57

I rammed my responses full of stuff about self-ID, the GRA and the EHRC letter. I'm sure it will get weeded out but still it felt good.

ElephantOfRisk · 01/02/2022 14:01

In the end they'll just presume you are a lunatic frother for adding anything in so will use that to justify ignoring your response. However they don't listen to responses anyway so it's an opportunity that you feel you can't miss.

mibbelucieachwell · 01/02/2022 15:09

Covid restrictions to remain the same.

Great news though, initially only for 3 weeks. May be changed after 3 weeks.

Omicron BA.2 thingy here. Possibly more transmissible. Take note though Nikki, in Denmark where this sub variant is a much higher proportion of covid cases the government has dropped almost all its restrictions, sorry, protections.

Re infections to be included in the figures from Monday. Just like England only a week later. At least she was honest about this. Well done wee Nikki.

WouldBeGood · 01/02/2022 15:16

Masks to remain in schools “amongst uncertainty about infection trends” 😡

ElephantOfRisk · 01/02/2022 15:24

Ffs re school masks.

An anti rail from me, we now (all 4 of us) have an appointment for a dental check up at the end of April. First one since September 2019 (and March 2019for DS2) . It's only taken 2 changes of dentist and will be a half hour drive away. And no idea if DS2 will be able to make it. But it feels like a positive step.

RaraRachael · 01/02/2022 19:05

How long are the SG going to drag out the "uncertainty/caution" nonsense. I've almost completely disregarded Covid now and don't bother sanitising or any other of the stupid rules. When I remember back to some of the nonsense - getting a wet arse after some obsessive person had sprayed all the staff room seats and much other shite! Grin

Haudyourwheesht · 01/02/2022 20:55

I said masks were the most difficult thing to deal with as I can't do my job. Also the long term punishment of Glasgow.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/02/2022 20:59

The only glimmer of hope I had on the schools masks is that I think she said it would be reviewed again next week. Not in three weeks, which is the standard never, never, of this pandemic. Maybe their time will come to an end soon.

Cismyfatarse · 01/02/2022 21:48

Did she say next week? Jam tomorrow? With some schools getting a short half term this would be a chance to give kids a break straight after.

Women who refuse to accept Covid vaccinations will have their fertility treatment suspended in a move which has been branded “inhumane”.

The Scottish government has changed its stance over fears for the health of unvaccinated women.

Right. And why does the Scottish government get to decide what's best for unvaccinated women? Advise by all means, but if ultimately a woman decides not to take the vaccine what business is it of the government? Is she not she not competent adult who can be trusted to make decisions about her own body?
Kshhuxnxk · 01/02/2022 22:12

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us
This is so shocking and sad I take no delight in the hope that's NS finished.

mapleleavesreturn · 02/02/2022 09:12

It's unsurprising giving all of the power grabbing we've seen that the SNP have continued with a direct assault on women's bodies. Are any other groups included in this vaccine coercion?

Are we withholding other non life saving surgeries based on vaccine status? I don't think so...

WouldBeGood · 02/02/2022 10:00

I wonder who has made this decision and on what evidence?

Much like all their decisions, in fact

Railing this morning about the lack of care / interest re my ongoing (week 4) eye problem. What started as one internal stye (ie on my inner eyelid rather than the edge) has now developed into 7 and 3 external styes. I cannot get to see an optician - I have tried 2 practices and been told its not an emergency and to keep doing the hot compresses and that I just have to ride the pain.

One sympathetic GP gave me antibiotic eye drops for 5 days but I have had to stop using these now. When I spoke to a second GP after having side effects from the eye drops, she dismissed me completely and basically told me there was nothing they could do (she wouldn't have prescribed antibiotic drops) and I would have to live with it. No one optician or doctor will answer my questions on how long I should be expected to live with this and why they won't consider oral antibiotics for the underlying infection (which is what one of the NHS webpages says should be an option).

No one has actually looked at my eye since - it is reliance on photos, none of which actually illustrates the pain I'm in or the fact it's interfering with my sleeping and I'm exhausted. Sorry for ranting - have just given up on the NHS - seems the NHS only takes action when things get so bad they are an emergency.

WouldBeGood · 02/02/2022 10:12

Totally agree @2022HereWeCome, I’m having to go private for my knee after duff NHS advice. This is the sixth time I’ve had to at least kickstart action for me or my DCs because of crap NHS service.

Your eye thing sounds horrible. Have you tried a pharmacist? Or ring more opticians and try??

OP posts:
Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 02/02/2022 10:21

@2022HereWeCome, I had an eye problem a few years ago that involved little lumps or granules on the inside of my eye. It caused constant irritation and was very uncomfortable to even open my eye. I had a course of antibiotic drops which did nothing and in the end went to the eye clinic at the hospital (when such things were available) and the optometrist diagnosed a viral infection and steroid drops. After taking these for a couple of weeks it did clear up. It was the optician who referred me to the eye clinic so perhaps they could be a first port of call?

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 02/02/2022 10:22

Inside of my eye LID that should say. They weren't inside the eye itself, although I think some were on the surface! Still horrible though.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 02/02/2022 10:39

Just on the talk of going private. How do
You even go about it? I'm needing something dealt with and the doctor just fobs me off. Wondering if any of you lovely little can point me in the right direction?

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 02/02/2022 10:55

@IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 I've gone private a few times for various problems as the NHS is shit for all kinds of things and has been for years unfortunately. Sometimes you need a referral from your GP as a starter depending on what the issue is, so I just usually tell them straight off that I need a referral for private care. Sometimes you can just refer yourself (for instance I heard of a lady who was paranoid about her moles, so just went private once a year and had a dermatologist check them all). Then it's a case of choosing a private provider - BUPA or Nuffield or any of the big ones have fairly easily searchable lists of Drs, so just call them up and see if they can help.
