The festive special!

As always, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides. No resilience wankery. This is the safe place to let out anything that’s doing your head in.

@ssd

Im ranting about the latest leaked photos showing Johnson and co drinking wine last may. My ds had his birthday then and was sat alone in his flat. I asked him to come out but he wouldn't as it was against the rules . He was 21 and a decent sensible boy. We knew he could maybe sit in the garden but he said if he needed the loo he wasn't allowed inside, so he stayed home alone. Same as he'd done for weeks on end. I was scared for his mental health but there was no way he was breaking any rules.

I should have said it was a business meeting and had him over for dinner.

I'm so angry people like us with no say but with a conscience did what they thought was the right thing at that time. Im so angry and disgusted.
And i know the Scottish government do stupid things and waste money and dont know what a woman is. And i know theres probably photos if nicola sturgeon at a knee's up during lockdown.
But i hate this fucking right wing tory boy government with all my heart.
And I'll vote snp until we get independence from them and then I'll decide who to vote for once independence is delivered. Hopefully hopefully a more left if centre labour party mind find its balls and get a decent party together here in Scotland. But until then I'll vote snp until we are separate from years and fucking years of tory governments, which England will be stuck with, as they seem to be in thrall of these fuckwits.

I'm not going to rail but I am going to fangirl for a moment. You are always the voice of reason on here for me @ssd and you manage it without getting wound up by anyone or winding anyone up.

This post sums it up for me too.

2.5 hr wait for a booster at ingliston today despite an appointment. Bloody shambolic way to organise stuff. Pleased so many want it but seriously why pretend they are appointments?

runningpink · 20/12/2021 18:08

I want to rail that a friends birthday party has been cancelled already which was meant to be in January.

It really does feel like there is no point planning anything for the next 5 years as it’s just one disappointment after another

OldaRailer · 20/12/2021 18:10

Are all the centres running so late? I think the EICC is reopening in Edinburgh tomorrow maybe that will ease it?
Feel sorry for the staff.

Oof. That's really bad. DH went on Saturday to our local health centre with an appointment and had about an hour wait after his appt time, but they only had about 3 nurses there - I'd have thought a mass centre would be better.

Not wanting to gloat, but I changed mine from ingliston to Gorebridge (because I could get an appt today rather than tomorrow, and I'd stupidly double booked some irresponsible socialising for tomorrow afternoon Xmas Grin) and was in and out in 15 min (though a cat snuck into the queue before me, which was outrageous queue jumping...). No use to you, I know, but would recommend if others are wondering where to go! Hope we both stay free from nasty side effects! (though I have just had an unscheduled nap...)

Coquohvan · 20/12/2021 18:34

We need to be concerned what is about to be imposed on us here, it impacts our local economies, Scottish education and most importantly NHS Scotland, all of which NS is responsible for, not Boris. So much political play going on from all just now, it’s hypocritical nonsense
Well said.

I’m so glad we’re not independent whilst this is happening. Terrifying to think what she’d do

2022HereWeCome · 20/12/2021 18:36

@Iwasonlytryingtohelp
This is why I'm not prepared to bring my appointment forward. I booked within a day or two of being eligible and got an appointment at a local centre for early Jan. Been looking for alternative appointment but simply cannot queue for that length of time. Neighbours have been going to lots of different places and it's really hit or miss whether there is over an hour wait or not.

OldaRailer · 20/12/2021 18:48

I guess the earlier in the day the better?

mapleleavesreturn · 20/12/2021 19:06

I booked the first appt on Sunday I could get and only waited half an hour - I was surprised how many had the same brilliant idea as me but i recommend going for an odd time if you can.

I was booked in for Jan and reluctant to move it but when I had a look and realised how straightforward it was to rebook it made sense.

Added to that, if you got there and the wait was more time than you've got, you could leave and rebook.

WouldBeGood · 20/12/2021 19:10

I agree with that quote and you @Coquohvan

rookiemere · 20/12/2021 19:12

I was Gracemount- late afternoon on Sunday- in and out in less than 15 minutes.

WouldBeGood · 20/12/2021 19:15

And I think herself has lost the plot. Understandable. But not good leadership.

From the start it’s been clear that the people in charge are not scared of the virus and see themselves as above the rules.

Sick and tired of the lot of them.

Cismyfatarse · 20/12/2021 19:22

We (about 40 of us) are going away to an hotel for 3 nights over New Year. We have exclusive use - just us and a few staff.

What are the chances? 20 triple jagged.

Is NS going to piss on my haggis?

Lockdownbear · 20/12/2021 19:29

BoJo won't give her the dosh to piss on your haggis!

Scottishskifun · 20/12/2021 19:29

The borris pictures and videos are clearly being leaked by someone pretty senior with amazing access and who doesn't want a lockdown. It's infuriating Tories did it but at the same time those leaks are probably contributing a lot to England/UK not being placed in lockdown currently and NS not getting all her money so not putting Scotland in lockdown.

Weird chain of events but so far it seems to be working so as much as the hypocrisy is outrageous weirdly it's currently saving my Christmas from being destroyed...... which is very bizarre to think about!

They know people won't follow social restrictions before Christmas with them continously being leaked hence they are sticking to saying constant review rather then what the scientists want as they know people won't follow at this point!

ecceromani · 20/12/2021 19:39

I agree it's intentional @Scottishskifun

So the politicians can say one thing (don't go out mixing in run up to Christmas) but knowing fine well the public will do something else.
Thereby saving the economy.
and lessening the hideous burden of covid debt our children will be paying for their whole working lives Confused

Lockdownbear · 20/12/2021 19:53

Yip I agree someone high up is leaking stuff. But it's clear BJ is thinking about the financial impact, NS just doesn't seem to think about the economy or people's jobs.

But then often think SNP don't mind the idea of people being reliant on the state for everything.

Scottishskifun · 20/12/2021 20:09

I know part of me is annoyed and the other part is going please have something else up your sleeve on them so Christmas goes ahead and no lockdown.......Xmas ConfusedXmas Blush so as awful as it sounds I'm kinda glad they had their parties as it means I'm not in lockdown right now!

God that tears me up and confuses my feelings somewhat Xmas Shock even worse then when I thing DR has made a valid point and agree with him in Scottish Parliament!

WouldBeGood · 20/12/2021 20:11

The problem for hospitality is that they don’t even know if they should order food and beer and roster staff on.

London NYE cancelled, how long til Edinburgh is?

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 21/12/2021 00:03

As soon as Wee Nippy gets out her bed. She's probably dying to put the plug but knows its shit for hospitality and for tourists industry.

alicesfavouritepen · 21/12/2021 06:14

Surely it's more likely that someone wants rid of Boris than some convoluted way of avoiding a lockdown? I think you're giving them more credit than they're due.

Scottishskifun · 21/12/2021 06:38

@alicesfavouritepen I think it's both someone who wants rid of Borris and wants to avoid lockdown and it has to be very high up to get hold of footage especially video recorded internal. Those types of files aren't just saved onto the civil service intranet!

This stuff is coming to light 12 months or longer later, which seems to coincide with messaging, plan B and also cabinet meetings on covid measures.

duvetdrama · 21/12/2021 07:51

I think l large scale events with crowds will
Most certainly be the first thing to go...Omicron seems to be extremely fast spreading so seems the sensible way to go...

OnceUponAWhine · 21/12/2021 08:23

The Edinburgh Hogmanay event is ‘outside’ so unlikely to be cancelled?
Assuming many of ticket holders are tourists, then the knock on from cancelled Hotel bookings, restaurants or whatever would be terrible. Not sure they could cancel it very last minute either without adequate compensation for all the impacted businesses, so will be interesting to see what happens.
Not so much a rail this morning from me, more of a chin stroke in advance of a rail if anything further is announced todayXmas Grin
