The festive special!

As always, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides. No resilience wankery. This is the safe place to let out anything that’s doing your head in.

@Mistressiggi

That's nuts! Does he have the card he got when he tested? He could phone in the morning and ask what's going on
He called the 0800 number but its closed, he's going to call in the morning
shouldistop · 28/12/2021 21:25

@ssd hmm could it be a scam of some sort?

ElephantOfRisk · 28/12/2021 21:30

@StarryEyeSurprise, so, do you have the corrected figures since you've said that you've given the wrong ones?

ssd · 28/12/2021 21:33

Really not sure but hes awaiting results from pcr this afternoon but he got text this morning saying hes positive???

ElephantOfRisk · 28/12/2021 21:35

The extra funding given was so that the NHS in Scotland got the same uplift in spending for the NHS as was given in England. You are now asserting that the money they didn't actually pass on was used to fund social care. I'd like to see the evidence for that if you have any? The money could have been spent on any number of things including paying out compensation for spurious court cases and the like.

The fact is that Scotgov chose not to spend the NHS funding they were given on the NHS as it wasn't ring-fenced. WM knew what it was for, Scotgov knew what it was for but decided not to pass it on appropriately. This has undoubtedly contributed to the difficulties we are all being told about.

@ssd

Can anyone advise us? Dh went for a pcr today at 3.30pm ,the 28th. Hes just noticed 2 texts on his phone which he said he got this morning. Both are from Protect-Scotland -App saying his test on the 28th is positive. The other text says the test on the 27th is positive. Both texts arrived before his actual pcr? Whats going on?
Does the text have a number or a name by it? Mine that came through tonight had a name.
Scottishskifun · 28/12/2021 21:49

@ssd when I have had covid results it comes up as NHS in the title not protect-scotland-app it sounds like either a scam or completely wrong!

Would ignore it and call the number in the morning

Scottishskifun · 28/12/2021 21:52

@ssd the below is a positive message if it's not the below with some possible edits as this is from March it's likelya scam (personal info edited)

NHS COVID-19 Notification: Dear Scottishski
Birth date mid 30s
Test date: 25 March 2021

Your coronavirus test result is positive. It means it's likely you had the virus when the test was done.

You must self-isolate immediately for 10 days.

This includes the day your symptoms started (or the test date if you've no symptoms) and the next 9 full days.

People you live with must also self-isolate for 10 days at the same time as you. If the people you live with get symptoms, they must self-isolate from the day their symptoms started and for the next 9 full days.

Care home residents must self-isolate for 14 days.

For a child or staff at school or nursery, tell the school/nursery.

For medical help, contact 111. In an emergency dial 999.

ssd · 28/12/2021 22:10

ssd · 28/12/2021 22:11

Groovee, you said yours came through tonight. Was that a pcr result?

Groovee · 28/12/2021 22:15

Yes, had a PCR at 9am, I'm negative but DD's boyfriend is positive now.
WouldBeGood · 28/12/2021 23:06

Any railers been to Kendal recently? Is it nice? Thinking of a cheap premier inn getaway

OP posts:
MaxNormal · 28/12/2021 23:19

I love Kendal. Haven't been super-recently but if I were you I'd do it.

ElephantOfRisk · 28/12/2021 23:31

I've been to the Lake District hunners of times but never been to Kendal. It's not far from Bowness etc though so plenty of options nearby if there isn't much there.

ssd · 29/12/2021 00:03

@Groovee, was your pcr result from the nhs though, i mean the actual result? Thats whats confusing me, hes been texted by protect Scotland app first, before getting a result from nhs in the usual way

WouldBeGood · 29/12/2021 00:18

Thanks guys. I think I’ll do it. I know a premier inn isn’t super exciting but it’s £54 and I’ll feel safe, as it’s just me

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 29/12/2021 00:25

I've never found a premier inn to be anything less than clean and comfortable so I'd go for it and that's a good price. Nice straightforward drive down and hopefully some nice scenery. Have a great time.

WouldBeGood · 29/12/2021 07:42

Thanks! Just went to book and thought I’d check forecast- bucketing rain 🙄🙄

DP, Nat and erstwhile SNP supporter, thinks NS is going to announce she’s lifting the extra restrictions today given the new evidence. Got to say I think he’s wrong, but I suppose you never know!

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 29/12/2021 08:01

I think the restrictions are hard to justify, especially closing nightclubs, it's bonkers!
Young people will party on in house's or head south.

Did they really think that without clubs young folk will sit at home on the couch with herbal tea and an individual fruit trifle?

shouldistop · 29/12/2021 08:05

Even if she lifts restrictions. How many peoples plans have been ruined. Lots of events won't be able to be put back on at last minute.
I was chatting to a guy at the Irn bru carnival, he said it takes 2 and a half days to set up, they only had 3 days (I think?) trading.

NHSresult was mine

Testprotect was when Dd put me in asa close contact on Christmas Day.

MarshmallowFondant · 29/12/2021 08:17

There is NO WAY she is going to lift restrictions. Swinney has been on telly this morning spouting the usual line of go nowhere, see nobody, do nothing because THE VIRUS.

As per usual, she will speak lots, using phrases like "caution" and "grown up conversation" and "I know how hard it is" and "just a wee while longer". Change nothing. Actually deliver very little new information. Hmm

Anyway. We're off to the zoo today. And no Nicola, I won't be "flowing before we're going".

@Lockdownbear that’s given me a great picture in my head of the “fun” they envisage as an alternative 🤣 I see them sitting soberly in a very brown house, sipping delicately
