More or less, no room for booze and the veg is in the garage. Booze will get in once I do a reshuffle and we eat some stuff

I've got a surplus of veg and fruit in the fridge here - forgot about a veg box delivery on top of Christmas shop and shoehorned muddy root veg into bakeware cupboard... I'd rather have profiterole or turkey excess!

@mapleleavesreturn I've discovered that the Aunt Bessies parsnips are quite nice this is because they are battered.

I always overestimate the amount of veg required. This year I have one bag of sprouts and some peas for 12 of us and I can guarantee there will still be some leftovers.

Next year, I'm going for aunt Bessie's. I've got 2 red cabbages too, I bet no one likes that either. Need a rabbit!

That's what's tricky about christmas, crowd pleasing. Should just do 100 pigs in blankets and snack bowls!

Mine campaign to ditch turkey every year, i love turkey.

I love parsnips and DH will eat them but I seem to have only one small bag. I have one of those sprout stick things and only DH and I eat them so I think we might still be eating them on hogmany. Plenty carrots and tatties but realised I'd failed to order in enough fruit as forgot I've been stuffing it into DS2 since he's come home from Uni. Soo after getting all my stuff delivered today, I've had to pop to Sainsburys for an extra half leg of lamb, fruit, scratch cards for the table and a replacement for the profiteroles which turned into a yule log and a sticky toffee pudding! Got some treats for the cat's stocking also.

It's a bit colder now so the veg in the garage has been joined by the replacement puddings - that's going to attract mice though eh? Might need a new plan.

Oh and I've just eaten a raspberry panna cotta as they go out of date today and I wasn't charged for them. Yum.

@mapleleavesreturn I actually have 100 pigs in blankets since the fateful year that my teenage niece took the entire bowl of them and poured it on to her plate. Now to be fair she does have LD but I was waiting for SIL to point out that other people might want some too, but no she smiled indulgently instead.
Was funny next time we hosted as DNeice seemed surprised by the sheer volume of the porky treasures. Plus the dog will hoover up any leftovers.

I only have about 40 PiBs, plus sausage meat stuffing and some pork/apple and calvados stuffing balls. But then there are 4 of us.... Blush

Hello fresh seems to think 16 measly pigs in blankets suffices for 4, unsure who they they their target audience is, surely that's one of the highlights of christmas dinner?

As it is, what I'm mainly looking forward to about christmas is the James heriot remake Christmas special. Did you know the author had a breakdown in his 40s and received electric shock treatment before writing 'all creatures'. I ramble - it may be the reason we have a setter...

Well we got 16 pigs in blanket and one measly pack of stuffing for the turkey butchers pack for 12. Thank goodness I have another few boxes of each in the freezer and fridge. Might buy some more tomorrow for good measure. Maybe another bag of sprouts.

DH seems to think that DNephew will want a cooked breakfast, does it seem rude to say that's fine but he'll need to cook it himself and clean up after it ? It probably is, but I'm not a cafe.

@mapleleavesreturn just make sure you don't pick up chicks in blankets or no pigs in blankets ( both in Tescos) by mistake .

Oooh thanks for the tip rookie, although I've got non meat eaters for Christmas Eve and I'm sure I'll be drinking Prosecco heavily to disguise the quorn pigs!

@shouldistop If you mean the slightly rubbery cheese wrapped in Parma ham, then yes I do! No one else in my house likes them, so all the more for me!
