The railing never ends.

No resilience wankery, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides.

YY. The number of people in hospital with covid is the lowest it's been for ages. Booster power.

Jason Showsyerteef and Humza Yousless have both said to carry on with festive socialising provided you've done a LF test.

There's still that niggle of uncertainty though isn't there? Sad

mibbelucieachwell · 05/12/2021 19:20

Very well done you and your DS on getting vaccinated @WouldBeGood

WouldBeGood · 05/12/2021 19:31

Herself is saying hard decisions might be needed 🙄

WouldBeGood · 05/12/2021 19:32

@mibbelucieachwell well, I’m supposed to do a parkrun with my grown up DD, so we can suffer together 🤣

mapleleavesreturn · 05/12/2021 19:47

As far as i can tell, the niggles stem from the media as usual talking up doom and gloom - my DM has been down today.

I wonder why they cancelled the park run when big charity runs went ahead today - there are so many anomalies.

rookiemere · 05/12/2021 19:50

@runningpink were you at Cramond as well ? Once I found out it was cancelled I ended up doing a spin class at the gym - haven't done spin for about 15 years minimum, but I really enjoyed it ( even if I can't walk today).

rookiemere · 05/12/2021 19:51

Parkrun was cancelled due to ice, nothing more sinister Grin. I really hope they keep going, it's outside for goodness sake, but they took so long to be allowed to come back.

WouldBeGood · 05/12/2021 19:56

@rookiemere I’ve never done spin. Should I try it…?

OP posts:
rookiemere · 05/12/2021 19:59

Well it certainly reached parts of my body that other exercises don't touch, but that could just be saddle soreness Blush. Thighs are really stiff today, so that's possibly a good sign. I'd probably need to do it more than once, to pass a definitive judgement on if one should do it or not, and possibly eating less rubbish would help me as well.

WouldBeGood · 05/12/2021 20:14

🤣 @rookiemere the sore bits is what scares me

OP posts:
runningpink · 05/12/2021 20:17

Nope, portobello for me. It was just due to ice so nothing covid related thankfully.

The junior event at Inverleith was cancelled today since the other event was using the park.

Get along to parkrun honestly it’s so much fun. I’m nearly at 100 runs.

Spin is hard but a good workout.

rookiemere · 06/12/2021 08:35

Argh I should never venture out into the main coronavirus pages. I'm now worried that there will be control measures put in place in the NY.

DS school does their prelims last two weeks of January, he's doing so well this year I'd be gutted if schools start going virtual again as it will f up his Nat 5s.

ssd · 06/12/2021 09:42

I don't think they will close schools, people would explode. I think they are trying to push the boosters to people still reluctant. I dont know many that would comply with new restrictions, unless no choice in it.

mapleleavesreturn · 06/12/2021 09:43

Ahh rookie I can't think they'd risk the exams again, fingers crossed it's simply scare mongering.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 06/12/2021 09:50

@rookiemere if they closed the schools again there'd be uproar! I really don't think people are likely to accept anything like that. The mood music at the minute is all about keeping responses 'proportionate' rather than controlling COVID, hence the softening of the vaccine passport rules to include lateral flow tests (basically an honour system as you tell it whether it was positive/negative before the system texts you back to confirm that you had a negative test Confused). There isn't even any official advice to cancel Christmas parties, just take a test beforehand.

I saw a survey recently that showed that most people were more concerned about businesses/education etc. (i.e. keeping society going) than they were about the spread of COVID. Which makes sense as it's pretty clear that it will never go anywhere since the vaccines don't come close to stopping spread, but it is essentially just another virus to most people after vaccination. Short of a massive spike that threatens NHS capacity no politician would dare reimpose significant restrictions (massively unlikely as all evidence suggests omicron is mild, certainly no worse than delta, and very little of the current pressures are due to COVID) .

runningpink · 06/12/2021 11:28

Anyone else received this? How much money was wasted publishing it 😡

does anyone really believe Swinney when he says he does a LFT every time he leaves the house??

mapleleavesreturn · 06/12/2021 12:43

Honestly every time you leave the house?
Let's all get absolutely nothing done for the next three months.

I can believe the swinney-bot does

Tiredoftiers · 06/12/2021 12:57

Honestly they need to stop this being political and leave the public health announcements to the health professionals. I'm scunnered with politicians opening their mouths and letting their bellies rumble.

Meanwhile NHSinform still says unless you have continuous cough, fever, loss of taste smell or live with someone with those three symptoms or someone who has tested positive, you are not at risk of having Coronavirus Hmm

WouldBeGood · 06/12/2021 13:06

If Swinney really does do that, what a waste of money and the planet

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 06/12/2021 13:47

It’s starting. That’s a primary school shutting for five days because of an omicron outbreak amongst staff

OP posts:
ssd · 06/12/2021 16:32
Sad
ElephantOfRisk · 06/12/2021 17:26

Surely if the omicron is mild then we should be hoping it becomes the dominant strain?

It's all ridiculous now, it's endemic, people who want to be are jabbed.

It's no longer a pandemic, it's just politics, fear and control.

WouldBeGood · 06/12/2021 17:40

It is getting stupid. But once everyone is closed and all isolating for ten days we are effectively back to lockdown.

OP posts:
ecceromani · 06/12/2021 17:56

Honestly they need to stop this being political and leave the public health announcements to the health professionals.

Totally agree. I've thought for some time now it's time to take health messaging back to being delivered by health professionals.
In ALL countries. It might help increase vaccine uptake in countries who don't trust their government.
