The railing never ends.

No resilience wankery, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides.

DS has come home saying there are to be class isolations If someone tests positive for omicron. S2.

What is the story of he has to isolate cos of this? Do I need to too? (Obviously we won’t be testing).

God only knows be I can picture these isolating teens meeting in parks etc not isolating in bedrooms

Scottishskifun · 10/12/2021 16:00

@oldarailer it's community acquired definitely circulating but highest transmission factor from data are still found in hospitals the govt will not come out and tell you this!

@mibbelucieachwell it will be yes but not from tomorrow as suggested by NS you will be asked as the guidelines suggest not a legal requirement until it gets made into legislation. It has to go through full parliament to make legislation but with the greens it's a given.

@wouldbegood if DS is contacted by track and trace only as a contact then he needs to isolate. School can say what they like it's track and trace who determine contacts.
Regard to household contact this will depend if he tests positive or not and will also depend on the SG guidelines/legislation. Previously if only a contact and no positive test then rest of household didn't. If not testing and DS not isolating in the house then I think technically yes household should stay in.
They haven't made it clear for contacts households not positive holdholds currently though.

Arse feck bastard to all of this.

That is all.

frasersmummy · 10/12/2021 16:06

The question in my head and I think a lot of peoples head is . I have had 3 vaccines inside of year, I have a covid passport, i wear a mask. I check in at restaurants etc , where does isolation for periods at a time end?? when we will be able to book an event or a holiday without fear of it being taken away from us . And when will we stop with the daily death toll being on the news

Its not good for anyone's mental health

WouldBeGood · 10/12/2021 16:10

It’s not @frasersmummy.

I feel duped.

Thanks @Scottishskifun. There’s no point testing now as no release for negative PCR.

@titsintiers perfect summary.

We should absolutely not be having this at this stage of the pandemic. It is totally heartless and uncaring towards the many many people who die of other conditions every day.
There are way more people die of cancer every day, it's just like they don't matter.

It's shocking to be doing this still

OldaRailer · 10/12/2021 16:19

That's so true.
It's a mental health disaster and public trust failure imo at this stage.

titsintiers · 10/12/2021 16:33

This 10 days isolation bollocks is a total disincentive to the booster program. Why bother when you're locked up anyway.

Scottishskifun · 10/12/2021 16:43

@wouldbegood oh I know we will be away in England for 3 weeks soon any call between now and us away I will simply respond with sorry in England so will follow their rules!
We always do a lft before visiting family anyway!

WouldBeGood · 10/12/2021 16:52

I am seeing no one who tests.

Thanks @Scottishskifun . So Nikki was being just a touch sleekit. Considering how much she waffled she missed out quite a few important details.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 10/12/2021 19:25

Currently out in Glasgow, and judging by the number of completely packed restaurants and bars we’ve passed, no one is listening to Nicola! People are well and truly over this shit.

A relative works for NHS and all the staff parties have been cancelled

ResilienceWanker · 10/12/2021 19:49

Yes, I've just got an email from the pet shop of all places, saying they'll be closing early tomorrow for their staff night out Xmas Grin Liking their timing...

ElephantOfRisk · 10/12/2021 19:56

DH is going on his tomorrow afternoon (NHS) . Beauty is that he doesn't really want to go (antisocial) but wouldn't not go now in case folk thought he was bothered by what Nicola said. Grin

I think restrictions are already hitting though as I just had my Waitrose shopping collection for tomorrow morning cancelled as they are having to "close parts of their operation". Luckily I jumped onto Sainsburys website and managed to get a morning slot with them but it did mean i've had to completely redo my order and despite it being more expensive now, i'm sure I've forgotten stuff.

Just switched on the news and that popped up about Covid deaths so far since start of the pandemic. It's very insensitive to those who have relatives who have passed away from other illnesses so far.
FizzingGently · 10/12/2021 20:17

We spent a few days in Edinburgh last week and although everyone was wearing masks we weren’t asked for vaccine status or noticed any QR codes.
It’s fair to say that there was zero social distancing and a very hedonistic atmosphere in the bars and restaurants we visited.
We had a fantastic time !
A far cry from the po faced, uptight impression given by Nicola Sturgeon and co.
We’re supposed to be visiting for Christmas and I must admit to feeling pretty pessimistic about it after the doom laden speech given by her nibs this afternoon.

MrsAmaretto · 10/12/2021 23:46

Well I should be going to bed but I’m fucking raging.

My works Christmas party has been cancelled AKA 8 menopausal women going for a nice meal and cocktails. But it’s okay for us to go to a wedding, theatre, nightclub, gig, hire a self catering cottage together?!? Utterly had enough of these stupid ideas.

Can I micro rail first about not being able to sleep.

Feeling annoyed for you. Ridiculous guidance that makes no sense. Could you not just all be going to the same restaurant on the same night anyway, private arrangement?

According to Twitter, there’s companies calling to cancel but still paying the restaurants and asking for the meals to be donated to a shelter. More of this, please. Ideally not cancelling at all, but if they do, they could do the right thing by supporting the restaurant/bar.

Lockdownbear · 11/12/2021 01:07

I think the tougher they make the isolation rules the less people are likely to take PCR tests.
Why bother unless you are actually ill or going to potentially be near someone vulnerable?

I really can't see teens isolating home alone again, they'll all be out and about, unless they are actually ill.

JCVI is 12 weeks after first dose for 12-15 Yr olds don't think many will be eligible yet.

Had a lovely staff night out in Dundee last nightband the place was jam packed in an obvious two fingers to Hitler in Knickers. # supporthospitality

Lidlfix · 11/12/2021 08:43

Contact tracing returning to schools on Monday apparently. Railing for the staff who might be taking part in that over Christmas (again) . I will be sticking rigidly to my open champagne before curtains traditions.
