The railing never ends.

No resilience wankery, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides.

@OnceUponAWhine that's a really good point about the NYE party. I mean it was bonkers that it got approved as it was fairly obvious things would be a bit bumpy over this winter.

But to say it's cancelled will mean someone will have to refund all the ticket holders. So instead there will be the waggy finger of doom ( which probably works even less well on the under 30s) and January semi lockdown. So glad I kept my M&S beauty advent calendar for January rather than December- I feel it could be a long month.

mapleleavesreturn · 10/12/2021 08:18

Hmmm rookie good idea re January count down!

ResilienceWanker · 10/12/2021 08:23

Yes, I agree with lockdownbear. A UK-wide lockdown is off the cards I think, and there therefore won't be any money for a Scottish one, even though NS will say she wishes there were.

Also I'm not sure if anything "meaty" can be announced today (like any passport changes, or legalised closures or anything), as any changes to the rules have to be done in parliament, rather than from the podium, and they don't sit on Fridays! I mean, it presumably won't stop her, in the name of Public Health, but I don't think she can argue that anything is really, really time sensitive that has to be enforced now and couldn't wait til next week... My bet is her usual waffle on Being Careful and Sensible, and thinking whether you're making Good Choices (like I do with my 10 year old).

InkyPinkyParlezVous · 10/12/2021 08:44

Do we think that if there isn't an actual lockdown she will ban gatherings of more than a certain amount of people? As I'm organising my teams Christmas event I'm having major anxiety over it...could be lots of work for nothing.

WouldBeGood · 10/12/2021 09:13

DD’s firm has cancelled their Christmas night out for tonight. A massive do in Glasgow.

I can’t rail enough about the callousness of the SG

OldaRailer · 10/12/2021 09:17

That's a real shame for young people.

WouldBeGood · 10/12/2021 09:24

And the hotel and all the other businesses. It’s so depressing.

Local hospitals back to visits for palliative patients only too, it seems

Night out cancelled without herself even having to do anything. Bet there's countless others doing the same.

This is a bloody miserable existence.

Gawd, that’s Sad depressing

The dentist has been on the radio this morning talking utter, utter shite about what a ‘party’ is and generally covering his back with every statement.

mibbelucieachwell · 10/12/2021 09:49

Morning all.

I agree with pp's forecast of no lockdowns. Doris himself won't want to and some of his backbenchers, already gunning for him would go mad if he imposed another lockdown.

JL on radio Scotland now being as patronising as ever.

Awful for the hospitality sector. Just awful.

DH is waiting for the lunchtime wittering so he can tell colleagues if they're still allowed to have their works dinner.

I'm waiting to hear the date of the funeral of an elderly relative in the north isles next week. Hoping the folks in the islands aren't worrying about me going from a covid pov and worrying for myself about the increased chance I'll have to isolate at Christmastime.

Why don't they just say, if you don't feel at medical risk from possibly getting covid crack on, but if you're older/vulnerable be very very careful. And quit with the guilt tripping and offloading responsibility from themselves.

mibbelucieachwell · 10/12/2021 09:50

X posted with @OnceUponAWhine . Am especially slow this morning Grin

runningpink · 10/12/2021 09:50

My tummy is in knots again with anxiety

Think I will stay off social media until I get home from work

WouldBeGood · 10/12/2021 10:02

@runningpink 💐

Maybe it won’t be as bad as it seems

ssd · 10/12/2021 10:33

@runningpink, sometimes social media makes it all worse, its like armageddon sometimes.
I'd advise do what suits you, as much as you can. Don't forget to look after your own mental health, its as important as anything else these days Flowers

ElephantOfRisk · 10/12/2021 10:50

Are we back to the no dancing instructions again? What do they have against dancing?

HarrisMcCoo · 10/12/2021 11:07

My brother's still going to go on his works night out. He is fed up listening to all these rules. He thinks we all need to think for ourselves and stop listening to the Scottish Government.

OutOfBounds · 10/12/2021 11:09

What time will this lecturing take place?

Like so many, we've got all sorts of plans over the next two weeks, feeling of dread all over again.

HarrisMcCoo · 10/12/2021 11:09

@dementedma

I've just messaged my team re our plan for dinner and drinks tomorrow and asked them if they wish to cancel or go ahead. 100% vote for go ahead
Good. You should all go out and have fun. It's ridiculous that folk are being guilt tripped into cancelling their parties.
mibbelucieachwell · 10/12/2021 11:10

I'd like them to advise that the new variant is more infectious so if you're vulnerable they would advise not to have big gatherings and limit contact but if you're not at serious risk from covid make your own judgement.

Well said. It’s very hard to rail against stuff without folk assuming you really care not a jot about others. Absolutely protect and shelter those who are most at risk this winter, provide them with the most accurate guidance so they can be safe, but it is the governments job to ensure NHS Scotland is robust enough and there’s feck all been done differently since last year. Nobody in the NHS will lose their job. The family business on the end of a restaurant cancellation will have no protection and face no end date to this shitshow a dreadful few months ahead.
2022HereWeCome · 10/12/2021 11:30

Fuck sake. letter from primary school advising if any Omicron case found in class, all students out of school and required to self-isolate for 10 day irrespective of outcome of PCR tests. They are going to shut schools aren't they or not reopen in January. I'm fucking livid. The numbers in hospital are not huge / people are not dying in droves / as ever it is the kids who are penalised

ecceromani · 10/12/2021 11:33

I'm not going to listen today. It will only be a lecture.
At least Boris (can we dare to hope he gets the heave-ho over the downing st shenanigansHmm) comes on when he actually has some change to announce.
He doesn't stand there and speak to us like the headmaster.

I'm triple jagged now, do LFTs, wear a mask.
Don't need a lecture about anything else

runningpink · 10/12/2021 11:41

Thanks @WouldBeGood and @ssd I think it’s the build up to god knows what that stresses me out.

I’m sure it will be full of patronising messages and digs at Boris

I’m going out tomorrow regardless of what she says. I will sit in a park with a chippy and carry out if it comes to it!

OnceUponAWhine · 10/12/2021 11:54

Angry What LA is that @2022HereWeCome if you’re happy to share? No worries if not. I think you could be right re January, we might need to prepare ourselves mentally for thatSad
