Wintier here we come. Love it dancemom

(Provided I don't get covid badly at an inopportune time) I can't help but think that higher numbers now are preferable to higher numbers in the winter.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 11/11/2021 15:51

I've always felt it's weird like that too @ElephantOfRisk

You'd imagine a pandemic would be like a movie - and there is a bit of that with Covid testing signs in the streets and stuff - but mostly it's just normal life now punctuated with the donning and removing of masks.

ElephantOfRisk · 11/11/2021 15:58

According to local SM, our rates are due to primary school, loads of perfectly healthy kids at home and some households have now got 6 positive (healthy) people at home.

The primary school pick up does seem a lot quieter to be honest. Usually have about half a dozen + cars in the street and loads walking past but that's not been the case for the last few days.

ecceromani · 11/11/2021 16:09

And that totally ties in with the stats on SG public dashboard @ElephantOfRisk
The biggest group per 100,000 is age 0-14

ElephantOfRisk · 11/11/2021 16:10

yep, It's like the stats but the live action version Grin

Scottishskifun · 11/11/2021 16:31

We are still not allowed to attend the office so life still doesn't feel very normal to me, I just really hope whatever was in my work drawer hasn't grown feet and walked out! 😂
Been told by work no Xmas do either incase it sends the wrong message.... 🙄 But I can go out with my work colleagues if we arrange it via WhatsApp right OK.......

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 11/11/2021 16:53

It seems so variable really. Our office has never completely closed, I've been in two different offices this week, at a work event last weekend with 300+ people, and the same the week before.

And yet my friend's company isn't planning to have anyone back in the office until March and even then it'll be on a hot-desk-2-days-a-week-dont-breathe-on-anything-while-youre-there basis.

Scottishskifun · 11/11/2021 17:12

Yep I think it's how closely they follow the Scottish government guidelines/business argument to being key role or requirement for office.

We have been told we aren't getting back in til around April at the earliest. They have managed to open up the office for welfare reasons in the last month but we have to do a individual risk assessment, followed by line manager approval and sign off by the director then you can book a desk but there's only 15 available out of 130ish staff!

DH is similar he can get into the office if he completes 3 online training courses and gets senior management sign off.

So we are stuck at home! Which to some sounds great but actually means home doesn't feel relaxing anymore just feels like taking a break from more work and I work longer hours as there's no shut off!

StarryEyeSurprise · 11/11/2021 17:35

We're really struggling at my school. I have it and I've never felt so ill in my life. I had my double vaccine not that long ago aswell.
Others have just tested positive too. One, their partner has recently finished chemo. It's really worrying.

ecceromani · 11/11/2021 17:48

Oh no @StarryEyeSurprise so sorry to hear that (I'm a regular name changer here)
Are you only positive one in your household? Think you've got young kids???
Take it easy and Get well soonThanks

StarryEyeSurprise · 11/11/2021 18:01

Thank you. Just me in my household ( so far!) .

mibbelucieachwell · 11/11/2021 20:03

Get well soon starry. Thanks

Haudyourwheesht · 11/11/2021 20:23

I'm a bit stressed because, for various reasons, I can't get my vaccine status in the app, so only have a paper record. Granted I'm unlikely to be going clubbing ever any time soon, but I can't see a nightclub bouncer being arsed with me pulling out a piece of paper. If they introduce vaccine passports for pubs and restaurants that's going to severely curtail my already very limited social life.

titsintiers · 11/11/2021 20:45

Get well soon Starry

StarryEyeSurprise · 11/11/2021 21:00

Thanks @mibbelucieachwell and @titsintiers. Smile

WouldBeGood · 11/11/2021 22:10

Hope everyone poorly feels better soon 💐

Scottishskifun · 11/11/2021 22:41

Get well soon @starryeyesuprise
Lots of rest, high vitamin soup and also take vit D and C if you can.
Don't hesitate to call 111 if you get worse they honestly were great with me and sorting out several video Dr calls.

I am hearing in the university, that those of us who have managed to get back to the job 2/3 days a week may well be getting sent back home next week ..sigh!!!

If this is where we are now with all the vaccines and the anti viral drugs and just 4 months short of 2 years how the hell are we ever going to live normally again.

mibbelucieachwell · 12/11/2021 14:13

How depressing frasersmummy

My guess is that SG will continue with restrictions until April 2022. On the basis of winter/flu/nhs capacity/the virus hasn't gone anywhere/wanting to get numbers lower than England's in a desperate effort to make their decisions appear to be more effective than the Westminster crowd and to justify their overly controlling approach.

You can ask your employer to let you work at your workplace if it's difficult at home though.

Scottishskifun · 12/11/2021 14:15

@frasersmummy I think some people would be very happy to never get back to normal and instead just say covid, it's not that hard to do x and my personal favourite selfish people are killing people 🙄

The ironic aspect is that are numbers don't come down with restrictions up here when compared with England which is still on the downturn despite barely any!

I think it's now a case of "being seen to do something" rather then nothing with the SG for popularity purposes! They can't exactly claim the measures are making a huge difference!

WouldBeGood · 12/11/2021 14:32

Yep @frasersmummy DP works for a big Scottish agency and they’ve been told to expect mew restrictions and working from home again as of next week

ecceromani · 12/11/2021 14:40

DC1 is a student and she said, just last week, that they were being promised more f2f classes after Christmas 🤷🏼‍♀️

ResilienceWanker · 12/11/2021 14:40

Really? Oh no... Is that a uni decision or a govt one? Have only just got DH out of the house a few days a week so I can arrange for online deliveries to come on those days without him commenting, and browse MN or netflix with impunity work without being disturbed. And as others say, what is the benefit?! The screening programme they are doing is showing there are waaaay fewer cases in the uni than in the community as a whole (and those few they pick up are obviously asymptomatic, or otherwise they wouldn't be in the office to be screened...) So why can't they work there, meet their colleagues/students etc? He's just been given a branded fleece to keep warm as they have to keep their windows open!

It does indeed seem to be "being seen to be doing something" regardless of who suffers from that or whether the "something" is beneficial at all. I'm totally fed up with it all now.

I think this has more to do with the general state of the NHS, and the ensuing criticism thats been levelled at the SG. Im really angry that the SG are abusing their 'emergency' powers in this way.
