In good news, they’re enrolling a motion of no confidence in Johnson 🙄

It's definitely galling that very little has been said, the Aberdeenshire schools are closed for 2 days, the power companies are saying could be another 36-48 hours.

That's a seriously long time to have no heating or hot water. They should be trying to get generators or emergency shelters for people and pets.

Lockdownbear · 28/11/2021 22:38

Boilers won't work without electric to pump the water round the radiators.
And I didn't realise but burning the hob for a long time to get heat can lead to a build up of co2.

ElephantOfRisk · 28/11/2021 22:39

Well I have no confidence in Boris either, but how blackford can keep a straight face I have no idea, the guy is a pompous balloon at the very least.

Scottishskifun · 28/11/2021 22:40

@elephantofrisk most have no heating as you rightly point out it. Some have wood burners etc.

Ahh @WouldBeGood should have realised the true importance going on at the moment silly me! 😂

ElephantOfRisk · 28/11/2021 22:41

@Lockdownbear

Especially as you'd be wanting to keep the doors and windows shut tight to keep the heat in. So reminds me of my childhood with a coal fire in the livingroom and no other form of heat.
Lockdownbear · 28/11/2021 22:58

You just really feel for people stuck in that situation.
The other things is a high percentage of 'country folk' have animals that they can't just abandon and go to a hotel

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2021 23:05

Apparently someone in D&G had to get married in a venue with no power- cold showers all round and freezing. What a shame, especially after all
The Covid madness round weddings

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 29/11/2021 00:27

Poor couple getting married without any heat or power and the 100 things you don’t think about, no lights, cold venue, no food and no reception (can't have reception in the dark).

Aww what a real shame.

MLMshouldbeillegal · 29/11/2021 08:04

FFS, more of this new variant which everyone's getting into a stooshie about found in Glasgow and Lanarkshire.

Here comes Humza useless and Elsie McSelfie with the restrictions. Hmm

OnceUponAWhine · 29/11/2021 08:09

Oh save us, herself is back on the telly today with a briefing. Angry

MLMshouldbeillegal · 29/11/2021 08:33

Yeah won't be watching that. Can predict it now:

Caution... just because you can doesn't mean you should... masks... protect the NHS...consider carefully.

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2021 08:51

I think there will be new restrictions. Isolations again etc.
Swinney has been out floating more social distancing too.
I really hope someone asks her why our extra safe measures have in fact resulted in even more terrifying omicron than England

OP posts:
OnceUponAWhine · 29/11/2021 09:13

6 cases! 6! Presumably those people are isolating as per the guidance and recovering well, or we would have heard about it before now? But don’t let a good dose of scaremongering get in the way of the reality. The vaccine uptake is high and we still have these highly effective cloth masks in place🧐, so we’re good to go for winter, right? Why do we need a televised press conference, if not to announce something specific?

I expect waffle for 40 minutes, no questions from the press she hasn’t seen in advance etc, etc. Then quite possibly something suggesting if we don’t all behave, we won’t get a Christmas.

(How many cancer diagnosis were there last week? More than 6. Sad)

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2021 09:17

It’s truly inane @OnceUponAWhine

The really bad thing is ten days enforced isolation if you come into contact with a positive omicron case, regardless of how many jags you’ve had. I think I’ll cancel anything except with people who can be trusted not to give my details to contact tracers.

How much of the Glasgow community transmission of omicron likely related to COP?

So depressing

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2021 09:21

I saw theories online saying we’d be locked up again after COP26 and dismissed them as conspiracy loons…

Quote from Sky news:

Scotland's health secretary Humza Yousaf said: "This will be a worrying time for the six people now identified as having the new variant.

"All will receive expert help and support and Public Health Scotland will undertake enhanced contact tracing in all cases.

"This will help establish the origin of the virus and any further individuals they have come into contact with in recent weeks."

She said there is "still much to learn" about the Omicron variant, with questions remaining about its severity, transmissibility and response to treatments or vaccines.

Ms Yousaf said scientists are working "at pace" to provide additional information.

"Until more is known we must be cautious and do everything we can to minimise the risk of spreading infection," she said.

She said the Scottish government has already taken steps to tackle the Omicron variant by adopting the UK government's new border restrictions which will require fully vaccinated arrivals to take a PCR test within two days of arrival and self-isolate until a negative result is received.

She said these measures will be introduced as soon as possible and kept under constant review.

"We reserve the right to go further if necessary," she added.

Scotland is also adopting the expanded red list of countries identified by the UK government, which includes ten African countries: South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Angola, Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia.

So, is yousless now self identifying as a woman or do sky news know so little about him that they've just guessed his sex? 😂😂😂

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2021 09:29

🤣 Ms Yousaf

Grin

MLMshouldbeillegal · 29/11/2021 09:36

I thought we'd established in summer 2020 that Glasgow was the ming, dirt and muck capital of the world, with its virus spreading citizens.

ElephantOfRisk · 29/11/2021 09:37

I just think it's funny that the person just couldn't be bothered to even look him up on Google images, or did and thought, when faced with a bloke with a beard, "woman". He'll no doubt be suing them soon for racism for not knowing that Humza is a male name since they managed to work out that John (Swinney) was a bloke even though he has no balls

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2021 09:38

They could be forgiven for thinking a beard and looking like a man means you’re actually a woman in Scotland

OP posts:
ecceromani · 29/11/2021 09:39

The cynic in me says this new variant has come along at a convenient time for all European countries who want to increase their vaccine/booster uptakeHmm
Nothing like Gov spreading panic to get their populations to act

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2021 09:40

And we’ll need the extra anti omicron boosters, don’t forget! 💰
