@readsalotgirl63

Thanks *@scottishskifun* - that's really helpful. Could she get a test on arrival at Glasgow ?
Yes and no..... So she would need to book the test and times slot for Glasgow Airport and have that booking reference code for her passenger locator form before she flies out.

She can't just buy on arrival or go to the desk so will also depend on what time her flight is due and adding a few hours on for delay, passport control etc.

Info is on their website though of how to book.

rookiemere · 27/11/2021 22:52

I'm railing. Currently in Barcelona and impacted by the change to travel regulations. Have booked the PCR tests as we come back on Monday and we're meant to isolate until the results come through - assuming that the change takes effect from then.

Wish we hadn't bothered. I'm now worried about getting back and just want to go home. Will miss book club as waiting for test results . Just feel really down. Look like huge old whale in holiday snaps. I know it's all first world stuff but there we go. Don't be Pollyannaish on me DH is more than joyful enough for any.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 27/11/2021 23:09

No Pollyanna from me @rookiemere, I have a Pollyanna boss who drives me mad. But honestly, being pissed off all day tomorrow won't change things one jot, so worth trying to enjoy your last full days?

OnceUponAWhine · 27/11/2021 23:09

@ElephantOfRisk

I'm railing against the lies and shite that the SNP put in their wee newspaper that they snuck into my letterbox when I wasn't looking. Pile of absolute shite that I wonder who has paid for. Now you'd think by the law of averages there would be one of them that wasn't inept stupid, corrupt, a liar or a combination of all of those, it appears not.

DH so angry that he's scrawled "Lies" all over it and taped it to a lamppost - I just wanted to set it on fire.

Between that and the MSM trying to cause panic - again - sick fed up of the lot of it.

We didn’t get one yet- but know of others locally who did. Maybe it’s something I said🤣? I can’t wait to get it, scribble something obscene on it and return it to their free PO Box.

As for everything else- those of us who can, hold the line, continue to worship at the altar of Neil Oliver and try to see through the utter bullshit in the MSM. Check in on any friends/family who were scared through lockdowns, they will be potentially plunged into anxiety-filled days again. As for the masks, @alicesfavouritepen sums it up well for me.
Also, continuing the concern for countries without access to first vaccine - can’t be doing with this ‘I’m alright Jack, I got my ‘3rd vaccine aka booster’ virtue signalling across social, not a care in the world for others.

readsalotgirl63 · 27/11/2021 23:13

Thanks again - seems simpler for dsis to book PCR to do at "home" - she will be staying with family. I think she may have to book a flight to arrive on the Monday rather than the Tuesday to allow enough turnaround time. Just extra hassle at a time it's really not needed.

mibbelucieachwell · 27/11/2021 23:37

Apparently South Africa has introduced widely available LF tests only in the last few days, massively skewing the reported number of cases there.
It has an estimated 20% incidence of HIV and of those, approximately 70% have access to antivirals. This is why they're so on it with covid sequencing but may also be why it seems to be suffering so much with the new covid variant. It's quite a leap to assume that the new variant will outcompete delta here and even if it did, it might be no bad thing given that it seems to mostly produce milder symptoms.

It gives the UK government a chance to show how responsible it's being by reintroducing some restrictions though, when cases happen to be at the highest they've been for some time. Should be good for their popularity when their swift, responsible action has saved Christmas Hmm

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2021 01:12

@rookiemere that’s just all shite. I offer no positivity but a stiff virtual drink

Always awful when travel regulations change when you're away rookiemere sorry to hear it.

I'm a bit hopeful that things looked bad early October on last year with things getting worse and worse til Xmas lockdown and we're at end Nov before the mood music has set to panic so perhaps we'll still avoid it.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/11/2021 07:45

Sorry if that did read a bit Pollyanna after all though @rookiemere , tone lost in written text! It is really shite just to announce a change and there doesn't seem to be much detail yet.

Lockdownbear · 28/11/2021 07:52

We are meant to be having a ski trip. I'm at the point I'll believe it's actually happening once I'm on the plane.
Our trip last year was cancelled because of covid too.

LO had forgotten what a panto was, among various random things you don't think about.

mapleleavesreturn · 28/11/2021 08:13

We went to panto this weekend - was great. So nice to see busy streets again.

Lovely to wake up to softly falling and settling snow today, especially when it is t going to hang around for days!

MLMshouldbeillegal · 28/11/2021 08:25

According to Simon Calder you don't, @rookiemere.

"Rules for arrivals to the UK change at 4am on Tuesday 30 Nov.
After that time vaccinated travellers must take a PCR test on arrival or either of the 2 following days and self-isolate until they get a negative result."

So if you are back on Monday 29th, you're fine. Carry on as normal.

rookiemere · 28/11/2021 08:36

@MLMshouldbeillegal thanks just woke up to the good news. Now wish I hadn't panic bought PCRs Grin. If anyone in the Edinburgh area would like to buy some tests which should arrive in a couple of days, please PM me .

amazeandastonish · 28/11/2021 08:45

not a chance in hell DF will self isolate when he returns. He'll be straight out to the pub.

He and DM have been triple jagged so that will be his excuse.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/11/2021 09:10

You might be able to get a refund @rookiemere - I did for some LFTs for an outbound flight I didn't need last month. Only lost an admin fee which was £5-£10.

amazeandastonish · 28/11/2021 11:00

surprise surprise

Scottishskifun · 28/11/2021 11:03

All that will happen is the same as previous people will travel to England to fly.

I for one am ignoring any england/Scotland travel ban as many others would too!

Lockdownbear · 28/11/2021 11:24

I wish we were flying in/ out of England. I'm so nervous this holiday could go belly up.

I love my ski trip much more than a summer holiday.

Scottishskifun · 28/11/2021 12:08

@Lockdownbear play it by ear and also there may be last minute trips available flying out from England.

I know what you mean though (😂 hence my username!) DH is going first week of Jan but has decided to fly from England and book last minute.
Sadly I think we will continue booking trips from England foe the foreseeable future because of SG insistence to be seen to do more than Boris!

amazeandastonish · 28/11/2021 12:46

switzerland and spain have now put restrictions on UK travellers although I'm not sure what the details are, maybe just unvaccinated?

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 28/11/2021 13:13

No - all travellers from UK "need to present a negative COVID-19 test and quarantine for ten days", per Reuters.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 28/11/2021 13:14

That was re travelling to Switzerland.

runningpink · 28/11/2021 13:49

Thanks for filling me in @Scottishskifun

If she stops travel between local authority areas again I will not be following. Doesn’t affect me if it was Scot/Eng but if it did I also wouldn’t be following that

Who has snow today? I enjoyed a snowy plod

Mistressiggi · 28/11/2021 14:17

Snow here though it's disappearing now. I like snow at the weekend, and then no snow when I have to drive to work! selfishly

Scottishskifun · 28/11/2021 14:28

Snow here too but alas no snowy walks for me as it looks like my evil cold is a bit more evil than thought and is actually bronchitis 😣😴 so tired due to lack of sleep too but can't sleep due to coughing (and yes done another stupid test still neg!)
