My dad didn't have to isolate, and both his appts were cancellations with about a week's notice I think. They may have recommended he cut down on contacts, but it was a voluntary thing. Prob just as well, as he had to stay in a hotel the night before in October, to be there on time, and so mum didn't have to drive in the dark etc...(the plan was he stayed with us, but NS put a stop to that by banning household mixing a couple of days previously...so we met for a meal in a restaurant the previous evening instead Hmm. Very cautious we were!)

sartorius · 22/09/2021 18:33

I just can't believe now that we all went along with this shitConfused
And didn't question why it was safer for someone about to go in for surgery to be in a restaurant rather than a private homeHmm

BRAINWASHED we were!

ResilienceWanker · 22/09/2021 18:49

Well, precisely! To be fair, she banned the restaurant a couple of days afterwards... but it was weird and nonsensical while it lasted. Nice Wine there, though Grin

Lockdownbear · 22/09/2021 18:51

BRAINWASHED we were!

Absolutely and actually I very much doubt people would comply if they tried the 'you can only meet indoors if your paying for the privilege' thing again.
Glasgow had that inflicted for 9mths, longest and harshest restrictions in Europe. Yet people still seem to think 'we didn't really have a lockdown'

sartorius · 22/09/2021 19:01

I remember last October meeting a friend in a coffee shop.
We were sat across a small table. Her chair was back to back with someone else and after about 10 mins she felt so uncomfortable we had to ask to move.
Meanwhile I had a large L shaped living room at home we could have been 3 m apart🤷🏼‍♀️

sartorius · 22/09/2021 19:07

And @Lockdownbear I think you're right that people wouldn't comply again now.
This is the issue some parts of Australia (? Melbourne) are having just now

WouldBeGood · 22/09/2021 19:07

It’s funny as I was railing and flouting then as it was so stupid.

But now I can’t be arsed going out. They get you eventually!

OP posts:
sartorius · 22/09/2021 19:21

I was totally compliant then @WouldBeGood
But going about my business freely now ( not exactly going clubbing as a middle aged mumGrin) and I definitely won't be going back to these nonsensical restrictions again

Lockdownbear · 22/09/2021 19:28

I was another who bought into it, even although I'd questioned the logic, my pal explained it was all to do with touching stuff in some else's house, where a restaurant/ cafe is more likely to have hard surfaces that are easy to clean.....

I really wouldn't buy it again

ResilienceWanker · 22/09/2021 19:43

Yeah - there were ways of justifying it if you were so minded (less likely to distance/ clean etc in private residences) but overall, it made no sense at all from a viral spread point of view, and not very much from an economic point of view either. We'd given up by February, it has to be said. For his second appt, they drove round to ours, dad got in a taxi to the hospital (saving mum the stress of driving/ parking round central Edinburgh) and mum and I had a nice cup of tea and a cake in our house Blush while hiding from the neighbours. Though everything was very closed by then.

Groovee · 22/09/2021 19:45

Handy to know I might be ok to not isolate.

Lockdownbear · 22/09/2021 20:29

From an economic POV it filled the cafes and restaurants because people bought into the idea they were 'safe'.

This time last year Aberdeen had come out it's 3 week 'circuit breaker', Glasgow was 3 weeks into its, Lanarkshire and other shires had just joined....

WouldBeGood · 22/09/2021 23:45

I think it’s just an outpatient job @Groovee and I didn’t have to isolate for an outpatient op even in the darkest times

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 23/09/2021 07:48

I had an OP not long ago and isolation was only 3 days, between the pre-op Covid test and admission. It was just me, the rest of the household carried on as normal.

ssd · 23/09/2021 10:16

I stopped following the rules last year when i realised i was going nuts from being around here all the time.

WouldBeGood · 23/09/2021 19:02

Does anyone know if you have to wear a mask to a gig/theatre etc in Scotland?

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 23/09/2021 19:07

@WouldBeGood are you allowed to drink in the venueWineBrewGin you might need to sip slowly, Wink

WouldBeGood · 23/09/2021 19:25

@Lockdownbear 😃

Is that the rule? It’s not a specific thing, just in general

OP posts:
rookiemere · 23/09/2021 19:46

You're meant to wear a mask in the cinema, but I just sip my can of smuggled in Fanta verrryyyy slowly.

Lockdownbear · 23/09/2021 19:52

Well you can remove masks on trains to eat and drink. Same with nightclubs. And cafes
I don't see why a theater would be different 🤔

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 23/09/2021 20:04

I'm going to England tomorrow 🥳 cannot wait to fuck the mask in the bin! I do think I'm going have this strange feeling I am doing something wrong!

WouldBeGood · 23/09/2021 20:38

Have a lovejy time @IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021

hilbil21 · 23/09/2021 20:50

I'm getting the train to England tomorrow. Wish I knew exactly where the border is on the line to whip my mask off lol.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 23/09/2021 21:39

@hilbil21 insider info apparently it's Carlisle but the train staff don't enforce anyway. Family member I'm travelling with works for them.

hilbil21 · 23/09/2021 21:41

I read Scotrail said recently that they weren't enforcing it anymore, but wasn't sure about Avanti Grin Think I may be a rebel and keep it off from Helensburgh onwards lol.
