It all beggars belief, and I know some will vote for them regardless, but I do think the impetus is gone, and it’s possible the shambolic state of the country as well as the gender obsession will finish them as any kind of force for separation

Yes, and don't forget the Hate Crime Bill.

WouldBeGood · 21/09/2021 22:12

True!

To be fair there is quite a list of disasters and wasted money and poor judgements related to every aspect of life in Scotland. I'm also fed up of the "we've got a government we didn't vote for so we need independence" but then, I have both a government in the UK and a government in Holyrood that I didn't vote for, I think it's called democracy. I also have a council in power that I didn't vote for. Still democracy.

WouldBeGood · 21/09/2021 22:24

I think I feel that everything is so shite, but at least there’s no fear of independence now 🤣

They've lost a lot of football fans since the football asbo fiasco too.

This is what happens with a government full of inexperienced career politicians. Decisions are made without any real life experience or pragmatism.

I couldn't agree more, we have very few people in the Scottish parliament now that could do anything else and it shows.

Groovee · 22/09/2021 13:15

Oh ffs, usually 2 year eye test...

Cover left eye and literally everything was blurry. I've developed cataracts. So she's urgently referring me. Seriously can't our house just get a flipping break.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 22/09/2021 13:32

Oh Groovee that's absolutely crap!

ElephantOfRisk · 22/09/2021 13:40

Oh for goodness sake @Groovee. Hope they get to the bottom of it and you get sorted out.

WouldBeGood · 22/09/2021 13:46

Oh, jeez @Groovee 💐

groovee 😫 Surely to goodness this will be the last thing in the groovee catalogue of troubles. What a very long run of bad luck.

ResilienceWanker · 22/09/2021 14:07

Oh no groovee Flowers Sorry to hear that. Hope they can get you seen to quickly. My dad had cataracts in both eyes, and once he'd plucked up the nerve for the operation did get treated pretty quickly, even over Covid - one last October and the second in February. And it was all quick and easy for him to recover, even though he's ancient. So fingers crossed the same for you.

rookiemere · 22/09/2021 15:05

Oh gosh @Groovee - best keep a lookout for plagues of locusts- you aren't having much luck atm, but I do understand it to be a very straightforward op with quick recovery time.

Can't believe how poor a speaker Lorna Slater is:

Obviously apart from the content (or lack thereof), i've heard 5 year olds in their first Nativity play read/speak better than this. Where is the ability to debate and respond to a question? I'd have thought being part of the debating club at school or at the least some lessons in public speaking would be a prerequisite for this job no?

This is what you get when the only qualification necessary for a ministerial role is to be pro-independence.
ElephantOfRisk · 22/09/2021 16:05

Yep. It's pretty shocking really. I know I wouldn't be great at this type of thing, I'm a bit of an introvert, but I've stood up in public and done better than that and also had to think on my feet to respond to senior management (way above my pay grade) challenging things I've found when carrying out audits (including a director ranting and pointing a finger in my face). And I don't get paid what she does.

WouldBeGood · 22/09/2021 16:34

She’s just reading that in the manner of a bored and unconvinced teenager!

Meanwhile, Humza’s solution to the hospital crisis is to assure Jackie Baillie he’s planning “urgent discussions” about it

Thanks everyone. Currently on the Spire website wondering if I can afford to get it done ASAP.

rookiemere · 22/09/2021 17:23

@Groovee my DM got hers done very quickly on NHS by ringing up the Eye hospital and speaking to the secretary. She used to be a doctor ( never mentions this when asking to be fair) and always gets seen super quickly by just making a nuisance of herself and also saying she's available for last minute cancellations.

mapleleavesreturn · 22/09/2021 17:52

I've heard of that strategy working for friends too rookie. So sorry to hear that grovee

Groovee · 22/09/2021 17:53

Thanks @rookiemere

The problem just now is would I need to isolate? That might cut down being able to take cancellation with working in early years.

rookiemere · 22/09/2021 18:06

@Groovee I think if you take a cancellation you're not required to isolate beforehand- at least that's what one of the neighbours did to avoid having to isolate.
