@WouldBeGood Thank you Smile

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us I think it more shows that vaccinations in school settings is a stupid idea!
Although a dose after covid is actually shown to be extremely effective at preventing re-infection and for much longer than the jab on its own so actually in the long run if those children decide to get it they will be very well protected but obviously teaching union hasn't done that bit of research!

mapleleavesreturn · 11/10/2021 19:36

And 2 + 2 = 5, tory govt ministers recommending anything would have a directly opposite effect in most teens!

When the covid debate is so toxic even academics fear to argue about it you know that we're in deep hysteria.
@OnceUponAWhine The timing I'm looking at would be Euston - Waterloo at 16:10. From what you've said it might be a bit too risky. My son copes fine with crowds and noise etc, it's my stress levels I'm worried about Smile
Ah, ok- I totally understand your worries. So based on that time and when I was travelling (without DC as it was with work) it could feel busy enough to be stressful, but as it’s just the one line down to Waterloo, no line changes, it might not be too bad, depends on how much luggage you have too?

hilbil21 · 11/10/2021 20:04

@OnceUponAWhine one suitcase on wheels, his Minecraft rucksack on my back, and his hand in my other hand is the plan Grin I'm tempted to just give it a go. I won't know how disastrous or not it will be unless I give it a go lol.

Well exactly, it’ll be worth that transfer at Waterloo if you can get away somewhere at the end of the day. Hope it’s a breeze for you and you style it out well with the Minecraft backpackGrin

hilbil21 · 11/10/2021 20:46

@OnceUponAWhine I bet the tube is fine and it's the Glasgow to London journey that's stressful if he gets bored lol Grin Thanks for your help Smile

How did the pcr go @rookiemere

rookiemere · 13/10/2021 08:13

No results yet, but I have to say the experience with Express Test at the airport was excellent. Hope they give the right outcome as I'm a bag of nerves until it comes - should arrive by 10pm tonight- wish I'd gone earlier with him now.

Groovee · 13/10/2021 08:49

Finally I'm on holiday. It's been a tough term.

mapleleavesreturn · 13/10/2021 09:16

Fingers crossed rookie. grovee hope you are going to have a nice rest.

WouldBeGood · 13/10/2021 10:24

Happy Holidays Groovee GinWe broke up on Friday and pupils and staff alike were dragging themselves to then. A tough term indeed, historically (in secondary anyway) term one is the gentlest. Not this year!

mibbelucieachwell · 13/10/2021 13:13

🤞for rookiemere

🍷for groovee and all the other teachers

Hope everyone on a trip away is having a lovely time.

No serious railing from me really, except a niggle that the UK number of cases is going up and therefore Germany might potentially impose stricter restrictions on travellers from the UK which would stop DS getting his third week there. The fact of not being able to just assume that travel will be fine is Angry

Lots of the music concerts/festivals have been postponed till next year which reduces his opportunities for work next year. I know it's quite a small thing but it's yet another opportunity taken away cos Covid. The covid effect will be long lasting.

rookiemere · 13/10/2021 14:47

Hurrah negative test for DS . We're off to Tenerife on Friday. Can't remember being this excited about a holiday before . Enjoy your break @Groovee .

mibbelucieachwell · 13/10/2021 14:57

Too late to do anything about the beach body

Scottishskifun · 13/10/2021 15:48

Yay!!!!!!
Have a amazing time! Honestly it was so good being away and the only thing that annoyed us was the fact we had been brainwashed into feeling guilty and not booking something sooner!

Scottishskifun · 13/10/2021 15:50

Oh and have everything printed out if possible (if staying in a hotel ask them to print return PLF form once done 48 hrs in advance) it really does make life a lot easier! We also bought a small powerbank to have in hand luggage incase phones started to die!

rookiemere · 13/10/2021 16:16

Thanks @Scottishskifun I am
Intending to print everything out although annoyingly the iPad is not connected to the printer atm for some reason.
Yes I do somewhat wish we'd gone to Majorca in the summer but at that point the tests were costing around £500 whereas now it's£200 and much less risk of getting stuck abroad.

WouldBeGood · 13/10/2021 16:37

Railing against not being Denmark. All restrictions now lifted.
