Having a rail about Sarah Harding passing away. She was no age at all. Cancer is such a bastard.

Groovee · 05/09/2021 14:31

So sad about Sarah Harding.

Groovee · 05/09/2021 14:32

@mapleleavesreturn

I don't really know why but hob kettles are the main kind you see in the US.
Yeah when I worked in New York the faces I got asking for a kettle for a cup of tea. 😂
listentomydeclaration · 05/09/2021 15:18

I'm in London this weekend and it's as if covid doesn't exist

I'm not really enjoying my break as a result

I hate masks but to have no covid measures at all or at least no one following them just makes me uncomfortable

I'm vulnerable so masks help but also have a hearing loss so also hate masks

It's not an easy position

I think it's to do with the voltage in the US: it takes forever to bring a kettle to the boil.

Just bought tickets to take my big boy to see Cinderella at the pavilion the day after he finishes school for Christmas. Also got tickets for a really good Santa experience that we did a couple of years ago.
I'm just praying there's no winter lockdown.

Sorry that your feeling this way

But covid is not going anywhere ever really and we can't have indefinite restrictions. I stick to places and situations I feel comfortable with. Everyone has to get used to doing their own personal risk assessment rather than relying on govts to make stuff law.

WouldBeGood · 05/09/2021 17:18

A good thing! Scottish Labour are going to oppose vaccine passports.

I know the SNP and the gardening wing will
Pass them anyway, but I read what Sarwar said and they’d actually listened to the study showing it’s counterproductive in encouraging vaccination.

I’m pleased to hear London is normal, myself. Shows the gulf between the gung ho like me and those worried.

It’s not really normal though as booking and masks required for galleries and theatres

That made me laugh @Groovee I hope you have a new kettle now?!

Not a rail but does anyone have any advice to get me to stop eating so much sugary food?
I have definitely used it as a comfort thing past few months and as a result have put weight on and feeling rubbish from it. Not even seeing my ever increasing belly is making me stop at the moment.
I have tried just not buying chocolate etc but I end up climbing the walls.

Maybe I just need to go cold turkey

mapleleavesreturn · 05/09/2021 17:52

I wish I knew running - eating a higher fibre diet (all kinds, soluble and insoluble) is supposed to help...

Terrible news about Sarah Harding, that is no age.

Ahh the voltage!

WouldBeGood · 05/09/2021 17:53

Dunno @runningpink! I’m trying high protein. But I’m not so much one for sweet stuff, but do love bread, cheese and wine. Trying high protein which really does fill me up. I shall never quit carbs though.

OP posts:
Scottishskifun · 05/09/2021 18:44

@runningpink I have sweet fruits like nectarines, mangos etc and then buy high coco dark chocolate which is amazing but can only really have 2 squares.
Coupled with a high protein and slower release carbs means that I stay fuller but also don't get sugar crashes.
I also have sugar free caramel syrup for coffees when I'm craving a sweet kick

ElephantOfRisk · 05/09/2021 19:15

running, have you tried cheap ice-lollies as a sweetish snack? Probably not the best either but they are mainly water so not big on calories and take longer to eat than a biscuit or chocolate. A chewy toffee also lasts for ages. Back when I was doing a proper diet I'd have a curly wurly as again it takes ages to eat and fairly low calorie.

Obviously we should just be stopping eating all the sugary shite but i'm taking the above as a halfway house for now.

High protein does help with hunger, but i'm not usually eating crap because I'm hungry...

You get some nice high protein yogurts now.

Groovee · 05/09/2021 19:17

@runningpink I tend to munch on frozen fruit and protein yoghurts. I need to cut out the crap again.

WouldBeGood · 05/09/2021 19:31

Mini milk lollies are good for about 30 calories

OP posts:
runningpink · 05/09/2021 20:36

Thanks all!
I actually do have ice lollies in the freezer so that’s a good idea

Also, iv got out of the habit of eating properly so the reminder of protein is helpful.

The sugar crashes are horrible so need to get myself sorted out.

Will also meal plan as that does help

Tomorrow is day 1!

WouldBeGood · 05/09/2021 20:44

I’m going to try hard this week as well @runningpink. I’ve been good with exercise but not eating and drinking. I have a dinner out on Saturday: it’s too late to lose weight, but I’d rather both feel such a bloater

OP posts:
shouldistop · 05/09/2021 21:13

@runningpink I'm trying to lose weight just now too. I've lost 6lbs this week but that's mainly from the bug I had. I've been fasting 16:8, I've had some success with it before. It's not recommended when bf but as the baby is 9 months now I can't really see the harm, I doubt it will affect my supply now.
I too have a massive sweet tooth and am so greedy, if I have a packet of biscuits or cakes in the house then I'll eat them all.
I've asked dh not to buy or offer me sweet things.

runningpink · 06/09/2021 08:36

Let’s do this together!

Iv had a high protein breakfast and weighed and recorded it on MyFitnessPal. Going to do a Pilates class shortly and go a run once the rain stops later

WouldBeGood · 06/09/2021 08:43

I’m in! I had a piece of small toast to keep me going for mental FBX class- half an hour of hell 🤣 Then I’ll have high protein brunch, and dog walk. And try to resist any wine!

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 06/09/2021 08:46

I mean later. Even I don’t drink wine in the morning

OP posts:
runningpink · 06/09/2021 08:47

You would be forgiven for drinking wine this early after the past 18 months! 😂

WouldBeGood · 06/09/2021 08:50

😂🍷

I'm having bran flakes and a cup of tea. Just back from school run a baby ds is napping.
Will do ashtanga yoga at David Lloyd later, it's really hard work but I'm really starting to see the benefits.
