The end was not nigh, and still looking far far away, so here’s the latest thread.

Usual railing rules apply: all rails or good news welcome, no nauseating positivity or resilience wankery. 😃

Ds is away for a pcr....bloody hell

Scottishskifun · 24/08/2021 17:21

@latissimusdorsi it didn't stop her last December when furlough had stopped putting places into level 4 thus shutting businesses then blaming WM for not extending furlough when people lost their jobs!

ssd · 24/08/2021 17:22

@Scottishskifun

😬 Christ I really hate agreeing with the idiot which is Douglas Ross but definitely agree with his statement that NS seems unable to let go of control with threats of restrictions regardless of what this causes to jobs or people's mental health!

I hate the man but he's right!

Im agreeing you but not with that wee tory b Grin
Scottishskifun · 24/08/2021 17:23

😂 @ssd that's pretty much how I felt!

ssd · 24/08/2021 17:23

latissimusdorsi · 24/08/2021 17:23

Hope he's ok @ssd

ssd · 24/08/2021 17:30

AyeSad

Groovee · 24/08/2021 17:31

So my friends son had to test last week as a close contact. He fell unwell last night and now he's tested positive as they got a PCR.

It's really set my anxiety off. I wish I didn't know.

ssd · 24/08/2021 17:39

Its going round them like wildfire

ssd · 24/08/2021 17:41

Poor buggers, all they wanted was one night out, its not too much to ask at 20, is it? And they've nearly all caught it and are stuck in again, inside for ten days.
Being 20 must be so fucking shit right now.

ssd · 24/08/2021 17:42

I was so carefree at 20.

WouldBeGood · 24/08/2021 17:42

Oh, @ssd and sad junior 💐

Hope he's ok
Keep us posted

ssd · 24/08/2021 18:10

Thanks all. He said the testers people said they are inundated with people and tests may take 3 days to come backAngry

Covids · 24/08/2021 18:15

As I said on my other thread, my DS (S6) had a positive LFT at 5pm last night,we tried booking a PCR and the earliest we could get an appointment was 4pm today - that got cancelled as the centre was closed and we have been given an appointment for 11am tomorrow...in Cumbernauld (we’re in East Dunbartonshire) Bloody useless. A week back at school and the disruption begins.

Meanwhile I’m in England and hoping to get my PCR result tonight after my drive-through appointment this morning.

Is it possible to just turn up for a test at Glasgow airport? I thought it was all appointment only? I’ll be sending them down there if that’s the case!

ssd · 24/08/2021 18:21

I think its appointment only, ds booked it online but said everywhere looked almost full?

ssd · 24/08/2021 18:21

I mean for this week

randomsabreuse · 24/08/2021 19:51

We're East Dunbartonshire too but Broadwood is way more convenient than most of East Dunbartonshire from Kirkintilloch.

runningpink · 24/08/2021 20:02

Sorry to hear about so many needing to test. Especially so soon in to the new school year

riverrunning · 24/08/2021 20:08

Were the numbers this bad at a week into school last year?

Can't quite understand why Scot gov is already talking potential restriction upping already. Beam me up.

ResilienceWanker · 24/08/2021 20:17

Yes, sorry to hear of so many tests, and would-be tests! I've lost track, but hope you're all in the clear! Such a pain having to isolate - especially for the children/ teens, and associated missed parties and so on Sad

From memory, there was a huge spike in testing this time last year too, when all the back to school colds (presenting with fever/ cough) were tested. Though there wasn't a corresponding spike in cases I don't think - as the variant then didn't seem so transmissible in schools/ among children. But the testing spike made tests tricky to get hold of and results took a while to come back... though I thought capacity was much, much larger now, so I'm surprised the same issues are emerging.

And then of course exactly the same thing happened 3 weeks later in England and there was panic/ outrage. Hmmmm... Who'd have thought that the same rules and process in the two countries would lead to a similar run on tests, which could maybe have been predicted and resolved when they saw what was happening in Scotland... Hmm

Haudyourwheesht · 24/08/2021 20:37

There weren't lateral flow tests available for schools this time last year, so that'll make a difference.

WouldBeGood · 24/08/2021 21:10

Just fucking stop the fucking testing

ssd · 24/08/2021 21:32

My ds and his peer group are uni age, its spreading due to them actually being allowed a proper young person's social life..for all of 2 weeks....
