The end was not nigh, and still looking far far away, so here’s the latest thread.

Usual railing rules apply: all rails or good news welcome, no nauseating positivity or resilience wankery. 😃

Checking in

titsintiers · 16/08/2021 14:54

Afternoon!

Haudyourwheesht · 16/08/2021 15:13

Checking in. Saw a few folk wandering about the streets with masks on today, and a woman deep cleaning her trolley with the blue roll and spray in the supermarket. It's going to take some people a lot of time to return to normal, if ever.

ResilienceWanker · 16/08/2021 15:19

Oi... I'm feeling singled out and bullied, and it's LITERAL VIOLENCE I tell you... Wink

Setting my arse on the shiny new railing bench.

shouldistop · 16/08/2021 15:22

We have homework already! Ds1 is very keen to do it right now. Long may that continue Grin

Yes, I still see folk cleaning down the trollies quite often blocking the entrance as they do so and that just makes me sad. Between that and the children with masks, the other folk masked up in the outdoor car park today, I agree it’s a long way off ‘normal’ for many😞
WouldBeGood · 16/08/2021 15:37

The gym is so normal it’s weird! You can now even (gasp!) use a mat from the stack in the corner, and no weird rules about putting it back in an “unclean” pile

Oh to be able to walk in a shop without people glaring at you for not plonking yet more hand sanitiser on.

ssd · 16/08/2021 15:41

I want to rail against waking up too fucking early needing the loo and not getting back to sleep

Im at work and feel ill im so tired

WouldBeGood · 16/08/2021 15:47

Oh, god, @ssd that’s so annoying when that happens!

Our corner shop still has the arrows-made-out-of-hazard-tape stuck on the floor. Absolutely pointless, as they all direct you to the back corner by the milk fridge and dog food, from where you can't escape without breaching the arrows, but they're still there.

I'd love a normal gym. DSs coaching sessions are starting again this week at the council gyms, and they do seem more sensible than last term - at least they don't have to enter via some weird combination of fire doors, don't need to come "beach ready", and parents are allowed inside the buildings to wait, so I won't have to spend an hour wandering round the middle aisle of Aldi to kill time or latterly, in the pub. They are still saying anyone over 5 needs a mask though, which is a bit crap.

That's horrible ssd. I go through phases of that, and it is a killer. Hope you get a better night tonight...

ssd · 16/08/2021 15:54

I know Angry

I was off the weekend and woke between 6 and half past, then this morning i woke about 5. Im bloody knackered and feel a bit under the weather anyway.

Roll on hometime...

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 16/08/2021 15:57

Are most people still using hand sanitiser to go into the supermarket then? I confess I haven't been doing that for quite some time as it's damaging my skin 😳. I generally only pick up what I'm going to buy (and wasn't the surfaces thing debunked anyway?) so I don't consider it to be that irresponsible.

ssd · 16/08/2021 16:00

Working at the till today its a case of if people want it thats fine but the staff are too worn out with it all to care really

Parking my bum!

I have a good news one today I've managed a full day of work (all be it from home!) my first since end of March!

Daily fevers have mostly continued to stay at bay since 2nd jab other then when I really overdid it by attending a wedding and being on my feet the grand total of an hour! I'm starting to have small hope that it's permanent!

I can keep ontop of the other symptoms a lot easier when my body isn't reaching 38.8 each day! Bar the rotting smell which is still disgusting!

WouldBeGood · 16/08/2021 16:33

Glad to hear that @Scottishskifun: hope it continues!

Work went well for both Mr G and I. Thanks for all the best wishes.

We had a lot of work done at school. New staff toilets. But no loo roll holders. Came out no soap or paper towels much to the support staff's amusement. Had to find a sink. 😂 we didn't bother with masks at times either. Only the staff who shielded last year and this year still wore them.

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 16/08/2021 18:23

That's good progress @Scottishskifun Smile

TheGenealogist · 16/08/2021 18:29

I wore my lanyard and no mask around Ikea yesterday and nobody looked twice at me.

Very cross at the reporting on news this evening about kids going back masked up, kids hand picked to say that it's not so bad really. Hmm
