The end was not nigh, and still looking far far away, so here’s the latest thread.

Usual railing rules apply: all rails or good news welcome, no nauseating positivity or resilience wankery. 😃

Yes! @titsintiers

Railing about needing my hair done. I can’t wear a mask for the length of time it takes to do it and can’t find anywhere to do it if mask exempt.

I’m doing my roots myself and have trimmed it, but want it all done properly 😭

*And yes, I’m a selfish woman with first world problems, who wants people to die so I can look better.

How about someone who comes to your house?

Maybe depends on your salon too; I know mine says to people upfront that if you can't wear one then don't.

shouldistop · 19/08/2021 08:28

Turning down mask exempt people could be disability discrimination.
My workplace aren't allowed to ask people to wear a mask in case they're exempt:

WouldBeGood · 19/08/2021 08:31

Yeah, but I can’t let someone loose on my hair if they’re harbouring a grudge 😂

runningpink · 19/08/2021 08:36

Feel your pain about hair cuts @WouldBeGood.
I went once last year and vowed I wouldn’t put myself through that again. It was also an awful cut to make matters worse!

So it’s been a year since I have had mine cut. It is soooo long and doing my head in.

runningpink · 19/08/2021 08:38

I have also not ran in weeks. Just can’t bring myself to do it and do t know why.

I’m going to try and go out shortly with no pressure as to how far or fast. Writing it here so I may actually do it. 🤞🏻

WouldBeGood · 19/08/2021 08:39

Right @runningpink, if you go running, I’ll get my arse in gear and go to yoga class! Can’t really be arsed but need it for my old bones.

OP posts:
Groovee · 19/08/2021 08:55

I'm bored. Constantly checking my phone.

@runningpink go for a run for me please...

How long do PCR's take to come back just now?

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 19/08/2021 08:59

@runningpink if you go for a run I'll go on the treadmill later once I've finished work. Haven't used it for a few weeks Hmm but I have lost 10 pounds woop woop!

riverrunning · 19/08/2021 09:06

10 lbs is great! Not managed to find any motivation here.

grovee I can't believe it - fingers crossed for negative.

ResilienceWanker · 19/08/2021 09:07

What a nightmare groovee! First day with the children too... Fingers crossed the test comes back soon. It does seem odd that children are only close contacts if they've snogged someone, whereas adults are still 15 mins in the same room (basically!) - but thems the rools, apparently.

Good call on posting your running reluctance runningpink because you know we'll hound you until you say you've done it now! I know how you feel, though. I'm finding it really difficult to get out of the house to do stuff I wouldn't think twice about before. I think I've just got out of the routine, and am struggling to get back in it. There was an article last week about how parkrun is less well attended now, and the surveys they've done on people who used to go but aren't now, is not that they are scared/ anxious - but that they've changed their routines and got out of "healthy habits" and into "sitting on the sofa mumsnetting in their dressing gown with a coffee at 9.06 while DH does the school run" habits Blush

Lidlfix · 19/08/2021 09:45

Groovee I am in the same situation as you. Tested 1430 yesterday and negative result just in. So only missed one class Grin that's an impressive turn around .

runningpink · 19/08/2021 09:49

I done it!!!
Thanks all, you gave me the push I needed.

parkrun is back on Saturday so hopefully that will give me a bit of routine and purpose again. No events to train for and there is only so much you can do to keep motivated.

Well done on the 10Ib loss! That’s amazing. I think you gave it to me though which isn’t very kind! 😂

@Groovee some family members had to test at start of week. Think around 10 people from various households. Everyone got the results at different times. My brother and his girlfriend both got negative 12 hours apart even though tested at same time. It was the next day though so hopefully you hear today

runningpink · 19/08/2021 09:55

Proof for you

Haha sorry! To be fair I think I've been holding on to it on behalf of someone else for a fair few years now Grin

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 19/08/2021 10:05

Oh and 10lbs is a mere drop in the ocean sadly

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 19/08/2021 10:28

That's a pretty good time @runningpink! I could never get it under 30 mins for 5k even in my 20s and pre-children 😳

runningpink · 19/08/2021 10:44

Iv been replacing running with eating my body weight in chocolate, cake and sweets!

It’s a shocking time for me but happy with that for today. Sub25 is my usual standard time. Just over 23 mins is my PB, distant memory that is now and never to be repeated I fear!

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 19/08/2021 10:53

Wow, that is good! I don't think I've done it under maybe 35?! I'm slow and fat, as we have already established Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 19/08/2021 11:07

Well done with the weight lose and exercise.

My antibody test arrived this morning so I'll give that a go later when I'm more hydrated.

WouldBeGood · 19/08/2021 11:10

Well done @runningpink! Brilliant time too. My best ever was 35 mins, good few years ago, probably an hour now 😂

I went to yoga though, and it was amazing

OP posts:
ssd · 19/08/2021 11:30

I'm embarrassed to admit I'm going out for lunch again todayBlush

Aww man that sucks. Glad you got a negative.

Apparently under 5's don't need a test unless symptoms. But we all know nursery children love sharing... germs.

One test result from last night is back as void 🙈 but we're all still waiting.
