Yep, quite early so not had a period for around 10 years. I know a lot of the symptoms do fit with menopause but they should have just kicked in now would they? Also told it could be connected with covid but then just about anything could.

titsintiers · 10/08/2021 20:37

It does sound like the two could be related @ElephantOfRisk

I hope you get it sorted soon. My own mum had an early menopause and crippling anxiety which is why I mentioned it.

ElephantOfRisk · 10/08/2021 20:43

it just seems odd that it should kick in 10 years later. Is that what happened to your DM and did they manage to do anything for her? That's not been mentioned/discussed on any calls I've had with GP but then it's not covid so not important Hmm.

ElephantOfRisk · 10/08/2021 20:46

I've also just remembered that one of the recommendations made by occ health months ago was for a stress assessment to be made by my employers - I got confused and thought it was something i needed to be involved in but she said not, it was for them to assess the job/environment etc. I have no clue if they've done this.

Just catching up on the Edinburgh rape crisis centre. It's like the plot of a George Orwell novel. Jesus suffering fuck

Oh, I’ve been avoiding reading it, but have now done so. Bloody hell. “Re-education” for trauma survivors.

Furious doesn't even cut it this morning. I've name changed for this cause its fairly outing. Received the instructions for me DD starting primary 1 on Monday.
Masks to be worn by parents in the playground. This hurts the most, she can't see our faces, I can't give her a wee reassuring smile and a kiss.
Parents will be unable to enter the school, I can half get on board with this.
Staggered start time of school will continue, which is a shambles. It has meant my child already at the school was missing 15 minutes each day of class teaching.
Beyond level 0 certainly not where our children are concerned!
Why can I go and dance in a nightclub maskless, but I can't drop my child off outside in the playground without wearing a mask?

latissimusdorsi · 11/08/2021 09:37

Yep @detrimentofchildren they announced last week schools going back with same restrictions as last term for 1st 6 weeks.

Education sec was interviewed on The Nine couple nights ago, being asked why children in schools were being treated differently to rest of society.
Waffled on about needing more data, long Covid etc.
The interviewer pointed out to her that scientists have plenty data to show children at very low risk so what else do they need.
So then she moved onto not all teachers double vaccinated yet.
WTF not!!!!
My 18 yr old gets her 2nd dose in 3 weeks and I'm assuming most teachers are at least a few yrs older than her so would be ahead in the queue. And we live in Lothian which was one of the slowest 🤷🏼‍♀️

GoldenOmber · 11/08/2021 09:42

My DC’s primary is still going for staggered starts, no parents on the playground except for the P1s and no children on the playground until 5 minutes before their start time, not a moment sooner. Which results in a massive crowd of people packed onto the narrow bit of pavement outside school next to the busy road, but hey at least we’re not treading covid all over the hopscotch grids which is after all the only important thing.

ResilienceWanker · 11/08/2021 10:09

It is ridiculous detriment. I'm really hoping all this nonsense will stop after the 6 weeks (6 weeks! Shock) or ideally sooner, when people realise how out of step it is with the rest of society. Or I may have to dust off the superglue bought for last year's blended learning fiasco and go and stick myself to holyrood again.

Haudyourwheesht · 11/08/2021 10:34

My colleague in her 30s was only done a couple of weeks into the holidays so will still be 3-4 weeks away from her second dose. This is pretty standard in Glasgow so a lot of teachers won't be double vaccinated yet.

I agree that a lot (if not all) of the schools' restrictions should be lifted, but it is a fact that a lot of teachers haven't yet been fully vaccinated.

Lockdownbear · 11/08/2021 10:36

Staggered start time of school will continue, which is a shambles. It has meant my child already at the school was missing 15 minutes each day of class teaching.

Are you sure they aren't staggering the finish times too?

Are the first week ours are 8.45 - 2.45 & 9.00 - 3.00?

Lockdownbear · 11/08/2021 10:38

Lower school Kids going on buses wait in the hall until 3.00

WouldBeGood · 11/08/2021 10:57

This is all nuts.

latissimusdorsi · 11/08/2021 10:58

That is crazy @Haudyourwheesht
Why were teachers in their 30s not vaccinated BEFORE they opened up the online booking to the youngsters at beginning of June? These youngsters are getting their 2nd jags now and teachers aren't 🤷🏼‍♀️
What a shambles

mibbelucieachwell · 11/08/2021 11:17

I really sympathise with all you parents of school age children. What a load of ridiculous nonsense.

I would think teachers would get a second dose early if need be. It seems to be allowed if you ask nicely.

GoldenOmber · 11/08/2021 12:00

I would like to rail about how little has changed in Beyond Level Zero. This is the children’s section of my local library. All the chairs out of use, one-way system round all the shelves and stickers telling you where not to go, tiny capacity limit meaning you still need to queue outside to get in. Drawing and activity tables all gone.

Library staff have done their best with the displays (don’t touch!) and so on, but this doesn’t feel like beyond zero of anything.

That’s so sad @GoldenOmber. Mine used to love a trip to the library 🥲

Also feeling pretty sad and angry for the kids.

Iwantthesummersun · 11/08/2021 13:00

I have brought this up already but teachers are not all double vaccinated. Im not sure that now pushing for teachers to get the second dose early is ideal if it’s not the optimum spacing between doses. However, school staff should have been vaccinated as a greater priority, along with a number of other jobs. We have had staggered starts for a year now but there’s also staggered ending times too so if you have the late start you also finish 15 minutes later. No one is missing out time wise in school.

NotSoLongGoodbye · 11/08/2021 13:26

Makes me cross that 'key' workers whether in education, food distribution / manufacturing or whatever were not prioritised after the NHS/care staff. An awful lot of NHS staff aren't front facing / were working from home etc but still got first jab in Jan/Feb - I know as I work alongside them.

Mistressiggi · 11/08/2021 13:28

There is only so early you can get a second dose without making it less effective. I spent a lot of time looking at 7/8/9 weeks gaps!

mibbelucieachwell · 11/08/2021 13:47

Yes the AZ in particular is best with a gap of around 12 weeks.

About 8 weeks for Pfizer and Moderna.

I wholeheartedly agree that it's awful that frontline key workers weren't prioritised. I suppose if cases shoot up it might be better to have an earlier second dose. It might not make too much difference if you've already had covid either?

Such a frustration that teachers aren't all double jabbed in time for the start of term.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 11/08/2021 13:56

@GoldenOmber I agree that its ridiculous that in level -1 (or 'beyond zero', whatever) there are still so many restrictions in place. It's obvious from lots of public places that nothing like the majority of restrictions have been lifted - in lots of cases they are carrying on exactly as before! Glasgow Science Centre used to be one of our favourite places to go, but the under 7s pirate ship area AND the theatre shows are closed, making it entirely pointless for small ones. There's no way I could take ours in there and then have to tell them that they couldn't go in their favourite bits!

I suppose it's lucky that private businesses are allowed to trade now, so at least we can take them to soft play or a private pool so that they can have some fun (minus the floor markings and distancing too!). We really shouldn't have to pay to get a normal life though, when the SG is claiming that the majority of restrictions are now gone.
