You've been all so lovely.
The past 2.5 years have been difficult. I had mental health probs pre covid and then covid has made it worse.
I'm vulnerable so covid rules are important, but I also can't lip read
multiple disabilities
so its a no win situation for me really
have name changed multiple times as some people on MN don't really give a shit about how covid affects me and have been unkind.
Nice to see some support today. Thanks

shouldistop · 09/08/2021 20:41

That's really awful @YeDancer I would definitely complain

Scottishskifun · 09/08/2021 20:46

@yedancer sending hugs and Flowers

I've found that some of the "covid police" extend on main mumsnet forum not so much presence on Scotsnet!

Sorry you're having a hard time, I hope things improve for you soon
runningpink · 09/08/2021 21:32

@YeDancer sorry to hear this has happened to you. I would agree you should put a complaint in

Haudyourwheesht · 09/08/2021 21:43

@YeDancer You should definitely complain. Anyone who refuses to take their mask off / to see anyone not wearing a mask should not be working during the 'mask exempt' period. What the hell was she expecting?

WouldBeGood · 09/08/2021 21:43

If you do want to complain @YeDancer I’m happy to help with wording if that’s any help.

I can be much more formal and less foul mouthed than I am I’m real life 😃

Not that I’m saying you can’t do
It.. railing against myself 😂

Thanks @WouldBeGood I've emailed a complaint tonight. I'm a bit nervous about it as I don't like being seen as a trouble maker but at the same time I do try to stand up for my rights. If I don't get anywhere I will let you know!

WouldBeGood · 09/08/2021 21:55

Good on you. I’m not a natural complainer either, but did it last year. And it worked, a bit anyway. Hope yours does too.

Glad to hear it. Hopefully at future appointments they will be more inclusive to you.
runningpink · 10/08/2021 06:44

Railing that bloody Jason is still giving us patronising advice on the radio adverts.

runningpink · 10/08/2021 06:46

@Ladylunchalot how are you feeling?

Lockdownbear · 10/08/2021 08:31

Glad to hear you put your complaint in. There is a company somewhere who make masks with a clear bit in them. They were on the news a few months ago purely to help deaf people.

I hate masks too, they muffle everyone. Make it difficult to hear what's being said.

There was definitely encouragement to wear masks at drop off and pick up even if it was outside. School also had stupid rules about who could go in and out what gate, supposedly to stop crowding. Hopefully all that nonsense will be dropped in August.

TheGenealogist · 10/08/2021 08:34

I have no hearing impairment and I miss so much when someone is speaking in a busy environment wearing masks. And not being able to read someone's facial expression is just awful. I'm glad you've complained too Dancer, some people really have lost their minds over this.

WouldBeGood · 10/08/2021 08:42

Railing against the new Education Secretary and her unminuted meetings with the SQA, just like Swinney last year. So sleekit.

OP posts:
TheGenealogist · 10/08/2021 09:07

I have no idea who the Education Secretary is. Will have to google.

Shirley-Anne Summerville? No idea.

The SNP and the SQA are all best buddies. Swinney's brother works there. Queen Nic's best mate from school. It's an incestuous cess pit. Of course nothing's minuted, if there were notes, there would be comeback.

Ladylunchalot · 10/08/2021 09:08

@runningpink thanks for asking, I feel fine, wee bit of a sore throat but with hayfever that's normal for me all summer.
PCR came back negative last night so I'm waiting on contact tracing phoning me to release me from isolation so that I can get to work.
I'm done with those lateral flow tests as that's twice I've had false positivesConfused

In Edinburgh they have weekly SORT meetings where heads and business managers waste time being told what great new ideas should be put in place. I used to dread when both appeared at 3pm to tell you the results of these blooming meetings. Oh don't let parents touch the gate. Which of course one member of the team becomes ridiculous about and starts spraying the gate with the cleaner as "gasp" a parent touched it when they arrived early for pick up.

Honestly!!!

Already seeing people on Social media asking about what the arrangements are for next week for drop offs. But it depends on what the blooming guidelines are.

So if I have to be 1m away from colleagues. Does that include parents? Can they touch the gate?

Honestly!! Maybe I need to work from home 😂

WouldBeGood · 10/08/2021 09:10

Exactly @TheGenealogist. it’s so sleazy.

Says it all that people don’t know who the education secretary is at such a crucial time for children and education. She’s not set the heather alight.

Groovee do you even know yet if the insets are to be in person or from home?
I know who SAS is only because I remember seeing her shouting about TWAW, no debate kind of thing at a rally.

mibbelucieachwell · 10/08/2021 10:05

Yedancer. Your treatment at your appointment is awful. What a horrifying attitude for a health professional to have.

Hurrah for your negative PCR Ladylunchalot. What a nightmare it is having to test for every scratchy throat and sniffle. I predict a shortage of PCR testing capacity and longer processing times as the start of term coughs and colds start. Hopefully I'm wrong I don't want to doom monger.

I've started a thread about getting proof of vaccines done in England and Scotland. Poor old DS has already missed one of the weeks of his international course in Germany. The next one starts at the end of August so he's desperately trying to get his second vaccine early and then get proof. He got his first one in England earlier than he would have got it in Scotland. We'll see if the vaccination staff on the bus in Gorbals that's doing Moderna today will give him his second one early.

A pharmacist doing Moderna vaccinations in London told him he could have it after 7 weeks which is 2 days too late. So frustrating.

Groovee · 10/08/2021 10:43

We're in school but a lot of my friends are at home on a Monday and in on Tuesday.

I think we're only in as the classes couldn't be sorted due to to our ceilings all being re done. So morning is H&S then classroom set up in the afternoons.

Mistressiggi · 10/08/2021 10:52

Thank you, that's interesting to know. and I will say nothing more about next week it's much too soon to think of it

ResilienceWanker · 10/08/2021 10:53

Glad you've got the all clear ladylunchalot! And hope your throat clears up. False positives are pretty rare I think (rarer than false negatives at least), so you seem particularly unlucky Grin I'm hoping they have stocked up on PCRs too for next week. I remember last year the whole world got coughs and colds, and tests shot up in the first couple of weeks of term. Ooor Jason said "don't panic, you don't need to test for cold symptoms" apparently forgetting that often a cough or a fever is a cold symptom...once again, utterly confusing everyone. I think that's about the time I stopped paying attention to what he was saying.

mibbe what a pain for your DS! I do think they should have waited a bit before bringing in the vaccine requirements for travel (without any alternative of testing etc) as it is discriminating against the younger people who haven't been able to get both doses yet, purely due to timing, not willingness. But I suppose, we can't tell Germany what to do! I have no idea about proof, and I'm not sure if there's a formal way of doing it yet, but possibly you could just print out the two different confirmations and throw yourselves on their mercy? (if going to the GP and asking them to amend his Scottish record to show the English vaccine doesn't work? ) It's a bit bonkers, as they are now accepting people vaccinated 100% in other countries, so why the UK is having such difficulty reconciling its nations, I have no idea!
