@Scottishskifun well he has a pregnant wife which means there's a vacancy...

Just kidding I don't think that's what it is. But I would be surprised if he's not already lined up some other stupid woman he can skip to once he leaves office.

dancemom · 06/08/2021 11:45

Grey in Glasgow also .... like my mood with these damn restrictions 🙄

Less than level zero ... how low can she go?

It's dry but cloudy in Stirling but I think we are supposed to get rain later.

latissimusdorsi · 06/08/2021 11:45

Thunderstorms in West Lothian @IncludeWomenInThePrequel
Don't come here!

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 06/08/2021 11:46

Right so the whole of Scotland is off then Grin

Movie afternoon it is...

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 06/08/2021 11:47

Wet and miserable in Lanarkshire @IncludeWomenInThePrequel, much like my mood!

florafoxtrot · 06/08/2021 11:52

Wouldn’t recommend coming north either @IncludeWomenInThePrequel.

Play date with the neighbours for us. I’ll manage to dart across the street Grin

Scottishskifun · 06/08/2021 12:17

@IncludeWomenInThePrequel

Sigh!!

I guess we'll drive in the general direction and hope for the best. Would have taken them swimming instead but - oh wait - you can only book one adult at a time to swim in clockwise circles. Hmm

Yep and don't forget it's booked a week in advance! This is the thing that gets me when people say it's mostly back to normal, people are just moaning etc etc nope because you have to plan at least a day or two in advance if not 7! We are taking ds swimming this afternoon but it's no prebook just rock up as still in England and all kids bit with slides is open
IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 06/08/2021 12:20

It's the inconsistencies that are so irritating. You can sit in a classroom together but not swim around in a big bucket of germ killing chemicals. 🤷🏻‍♀️

HadEnoughOfBears · 06/08/2021 12:43

I'm in West Lothian and we have not had a thunderstorm in this bit yet. Has been raining though.

Yes, it’s really not mostly back to normal.

Trying to make weekend plans for this rainy weekend. I’ll go to church and sing with a mask on, as usual, and then not go to church hall coffees afterwards because it’s not running. And then maybe I’ll take the kids swimming, if there’s a space to book in advance? We won’t be able to use the changing rooms of the showers much so that’s a bit rubbish, but at least we can get into the pool, although the kids’ splash pool isn’t open yet so that’s a bit rubbish for the toddler. And the leisure centre soft play is still closed. Maybe we can go to the library, if I phone in advance to tell them I’m bringing children, and then we can queue outside until there’s space and then all walk slowly through the one-way system round the shelves…

WouldBeGood · 06/08/2021 12:57

I think it’s almost worse now it’s pretend open @GoldenOmber

Rae36 · 06/08/2021 13:24

We've got blue skies in our bit of Edinburgh right now, I'm debating hanging my washing out.
I was hoping for non-stop rain so I could let the kids play PlayStation all day but if it stays sunny I feel I need to try to make them go outside or something.

Rae36 · 06/08/2021 13:26

I wanted to book the climbing at Ratho for an end of holiday treat. But you have to book a family group of 2 or a family group of 4, you can't book a family of 3. You used to just book the number of spaces you needed and that was that.

That's a bit of pressure to produce another baby before the end of the holidays....

Yes it's a bit crap and these weird things all the time. Sometimes when booking a hotel with 2 rooms, one for DH and I and one for my adult son. I'm comfortable that the room costs the same for one as it does for two but unsure why when you add breakfast it's still the same. Always tempted to book and demand four breakfasts!

We ended up with one very light rain shower and it's brightened up here now.

That's rubbish!

I tried to book 3 tickets for a comedian Edinburgh fringe show but you could either book in bubbles of 1 or 2 so that meant that 1 of us would be sitting away from the other two.
Luckily we recruited another person so now we're in 2 bubbles of 2 🙈

Been like that since it reopened last year. Bloody annoying. Plus for these family bubbles youngest has to be 8 which isn't the case when booking previously.
Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 06/08/2021 15:21

All these people having to book in bubbles - is that remaining after Monday when (allegedly) most restrictions are going? If there are no limits on numbers or distancing any more, why are places still insisting on putting people in bubbles?

WouldBeGood · 06/08/2021 16:48

Confirming my decision to go nowhere just now.

Except the gym. Started with new pt today, kindred spirit on the nonsense. So I’ll devote myself to trying to be fit and less fat.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 06/08/2021 16:54

In good news, the ONS (lagging indicator) is now confirming what the daily figures had been saying for a couple of weeks, that there was no surge after England dropped restrictions and there is a clear decline now. He suggests that people didn't go wild and maintained an appropriate level of caution - in other words, proved that in the main they could be trusted to make reasonable decisions without being micromanaged by government. Oh, to have that level of respect

ssd · 06/08/2021 19:13

Its schools that had the problems with it spreading like wildfire. Now schools are closed the numbers are coming down everywhere. Its so not rocket science. I wish they'd just be honest. And when schools will go back the numbers will rise again. But i think another lockdown wont be followed so its a waste of time.

forfucksakenett · 06/08/2021 19:15

BREAKING: Figures from Public Health England say 55% of people hospitalised with the delta variant were unvaccinated, while nearly 35% had received two doses of a vaccine. [sky news]

This doesn't seem great tbh but I suppose that generally hospital numbers are still low.

ElephantOfRisk · 06/08/2021 19:19

It's the 15-19 age group that is falling the slowest and still amounts for the most cases per 100k every day.

We need to stop testing and reporting healthy people or those with symptoms that are managed at home. Vaccination is a success and hospital numbers ( as inaccurate as they are) are dropping.

If we keep this level of measuring up then we'll never get out of restrictions. It will be into some sort of restrictions every winter to cover up for mismanagement of the NHS.

ssd · 06/08/2021 19:51

@ElephantOfRisk, totally agree
