According to Twitter the rules for weddings are now that you don’t need masks for dancing, or for meal, or for reception. But you need to wear them while seated during the ceremony. wtf.

Scottishskifun · 05/08/2021 16:28

They haven't updated their guidance yet (no suprise they are always slow!) for weddings but have stuck a holding statement in now! It wouldn't suprise me that following the nightclubs wedding industry has gone hang on a minute!

The rules were ridiculous in the first place so glad it's getting sorted but just goes to show it has more holes in then a Swiss cheese and doesn't make sense!

Ladylunchalot · 05/08/2021 17:00

@ElephantOfRisk that's rubbish, sorry you're having to deal with that. Would it even be easier emailing your boss with what you'd like to happen? Short days with gaps in between, gradually building up. They should be letting you dictate the pace, work you want to get involved in.

Grellbunt · 05/08/2021 17:49

Completely agree about providing better masks to the vulnerable (and even better masks to hospital staff - their PPE isn't even FFP2 standard. Reflect on that for a mo.) Disgraceful penny pinching.

WouldBeGood · 05/08/2021 17:50

Don’t need masks if any kind now we have the vaccines.

Lots of countries have lifted their mask mandates, not just England.

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 05/08/2021 18:01

And plenty others are reinstating them too.

This is all just getting ridiculous now - why keep a mask for one small part of a day with the same people? Who is coming up with this shit? Off to the Lakes for 2 nights - can't wait for some freedom
Scottishskifun · 05/08/2021 18:21

Yep appears the wedding industry have successfully lobbied for the change following the nightclub change!

I'm glad for them but surely before they even made this latest announcement it should have been bloody obvious?! That's what really narks me it takes an outcry and media circus for the idiosyncrasies to be sorted after many hours of businesses (and people especially for weddings) having stress for them to go oh well...... 🙄

WouldBeGood · 05/08/2021 18:23

If I were going to make a long awaited important statement to the nation I might think about it properly first. Not just open my mouth and let my belly rumble

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 05/08/2021 19:31

It all reads to me like separate committees came up with the regulations for their specific part, without anyone overseeing it as a whole. Which is stoopid.

Scottishskifun · 05/08/2021 19:43

@IncludeWomenInThePrequel 😂 I think stoopid is an understatement!
I could understand if they were doing this very quickly and off the cuff but they have had weeks to dot the I's and cross the t's yet they still released draft guidance after the announcement for LA to check through, gave them less than 24 hours to do so and still had major cock ups in the very basics!

WouldBeGood · 05/08/2021 19:54

They’re just really fucking thick and out of touch

ResilienceWanker · 05/08/2021 20:36

Yes, that's what all the various restrictions read like! Schools being totally different to other parts of society and so on. I assume the reception side of things is following the hospitality rules, and the ceremony the "places of worship" rules (who don't have the same lobbying clout) . But put together it just doesn't make sense as you say.
GoldenOmber · 06/08/2021 09:41

Looks like masks no longer required for children under 12! But also looks like they’re still going with “masks legally compulsory in nightclubs, except if you’re dancing or drinking”. riiiiight.

Scottishskifun · 06/08/2021 10:16

😂 So basically when walking in and taking a piss @goldenomber completely utterly ridiculous!

Scottishskifun · 06/08/2021 10:21

Apparently they will be reviewing every 3 weeks and say "it is necessary to keep some measures in place til early 2022" think that answers how long they want to keep control for at the very minimum!

GoldenOmber · 06/08/2021 10:22

Presumably if you dance to the toilets it’s ok?

GoldenOmber · 06/08/2021 10:22

it is necessary to keep some measures in place til early 2022

oh ffs.

Scottishskifun · 06/08/2021 10:25

We anticipate that it may be necessary to keep some precautionary measures in place until early 2022, in order to help manage the increased pressure the NHS will face over the winter period. However we will review the position every 3 weeks to ensure any measures remain necessary and proportionate.

Exact quote above 🙄 its right at the bottom!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 06/08/2021 10:30

So we are stuck with this nonsense for another 6 months then. I suspect a PP was right to think that they are keeping restrictions in place in order to ramp them up again when the inevitable winter pressures come having run the NHS into the ground and done nothing to strengthen it in the last 18 months. Does anyone believe that the school restrictions will only be in place for 6 weeks? That takes them into autumn and naturally rising case numbers, so to me it feels a bit like the 'schools closed until 18th Jan' bullshit we had earlier in the year.

England may also have to reimpose some things I guess, but at least they will have been able to relax and be free for a bit first, rather than the relentless anxiety-inducing mental pressure we have up here (not to mention their children will have been able to learn unimpeded).

latissimusdorsi · 06/08/2021 10:40

Do we really think people will co-operate en masse with restrictions again?
Everyone did it last winter as the vaccine was on its way
We were promised it was our way out
Well it's here now and we're all double jagged or will be very soon
So any further restrictions will be to save an underfunded health service from being overwhelmed
Surely that's now the bit that needs addressed

Scottishskifun · 06/08/2021 10:45

It's largely looks like political point scoring to me! NS is probably hoping her gamble will pay off later in the year so she can go "see my strategy was right" and she gets a bounce back in the independence polls as she did last year when she was clearer then Borris as they have taken a dip lately!

Did see Borris's horrific comments but the man's not stupid he usually says or does something controversial when he is trying to distract from another news story! I just haven't worked out what yet!

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 06/08/2021 10:53

Off topic, but does anyone have decent weather where they are today? Fife is shit and it's our last day off with the kids.

Had planned to go to Burntisland Fair but it's a bit too wet and windy Sad

rookiemere · 06/08/2021 11:21

@IncludeWomenInThePrequel no it's pretty dreech in Edinburgh as well.

IncludeWomenInThePrequel · 06/08/2021 11:33

Sigh!!

I guess we'll drive in the general direction and hope for the best. Would have taken them swimming instead but - oh wait - you can only book one adult at a time to swim in clockwise circles. Hmm
