Ah - see, we didn't imagine it! As discussed before, I'm not that keen on the idea of giving younger children the vaccine (happier at 16 and 17 yo, granted). But in this case I kind of hope the JCVI don't change their advice, purely because I can't face NSs overwhelming smugness.

Scottishskifun · 03/08/2021 20:14

😂 Loving your thinking @ResilienceWanker!
Well DH has just said that nightclubs are technically exempt from mask wearing because they were never listed in the original legislation because they were never allowed to open.......so completely missed and therefore cannot have a legal requirement!!!!! It either has to be added (which means a change through Scottish Parliament) or they won't have to wear them!

So that might be a fun another completely illogical one..... Secondary kids have to stick to masks but nightclubs not!

STV website is reporting its TBC by SG.....

The disparities are ridiculous!

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 20:16

You’d think they might have thought of the detail before announcing it…

hilbil21 · 03/08/2021 20:19

It's yet to be clarified. The mind boggles.

What a shambles

ElephantOfRisk · 03/08/2021 20:27

So weddings in night clubs then?

😂 Potentially! DH also pointed out liklihood of getting accurate track and trace info in a strip club is slim to nil 😂

He's having to work late to review everything before the phonecalls start tomorrow!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 03/08/2021 20:37

I'm kind of hoping the JCVI don't budge either, and not just because Sturgeon's smugness will be unbearable (although she will undoubtedly claim 'credit' for it). They have already considered all the relevant evidence very thoroughly and are aware of all the arguments, and found that on balance the risks to teenagers (particularly younger ones?) of vaccination outweighed any benefits. The evidence hasn't changed in the few weeks since NS had her hissy fit because it spoiled her reopening plans so you have to assume that the risks to teenagers still outweigh any benefits, and any change is purely the result of political pressure. Sets a very dangerous precedent IMO and I certainly wouldn't consent to my child having it for the sake of political expediency. I really hope at the very least that they haven't gone any younger than 16.

ElephantOfRisk · 03/08/2021 20:41

My DH couldn't (aka wouldn't) manage that perfectly sober on a weekend afternoon so can you imagine the variety of phone numbers and names left?

Any mention of having to show double jaggedness?

Your poor DH @Scottishskifun - imagine trying to put any of that gobshite into some sort of sense?

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 20:43

Should we all put Nicola sturgeon and the Bute House telephone number on the track n trace?

She's such a bloody dullard @WouldBeGood nobody would believe it
ElephantOfRisk · 03/08/2021 20:49

Good idea, or maybe just a variety of them? I once got a bit fed up with the sepa floodline, and it insisting on at least one phone number, that I just put their own number in. Worked a treat.

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 20:52

I might call myself Humza and complain about distress if the question my self ID

Rae36 · 03/08/2021 20:54

I'd like jags for exam years, so probably 15+, so they are less likely to miss school. I'm not keen on anyone younger than that having it. But that's probably too common sense an approach for anyone.

Grin Precisely. It's another of the ways the guidance differs from the actual regulations. The guidance refers to "entertainment venues" but the regulations don't. I suppose nightclubs could be "indoor leisure venues" as mentioned in the regs, but they are quite different from amusement arcades, which are the other thing in that clause. So I assume any savvy nightclub owner not insisting on masks could take them to court if they get closed and that loophole isn't clarified. It's just so shabby. And Yy... Nightclubs being treated more favourably than schools (albeit because they cocked up their legislation). Good optics there...
ElephantOfRisk · 03/08/2021 20:55

yes, i self identify as nicola's sister and therefore can do whatever I want and then lie (badly) about it later.

Haudyourwheesht · 03/08/2021 20:57

I'm not remotely happy about it but it's nice to have an acknowledgment of sorts, through the continued restrictions, that schools are a significant driver of infection.

ResilienceWanker · 03/08/2021 21:01

Grin I'm absolutely astonished she hasn't been pinged/ contacted at all yet. (I don't think she's had to isolate yet and missed FMQ or anything? - though I could have forgotten). Maybe she gets to veto T&P in a way none of the rest of us do...
Scottishskifun · 03/08/2021 21:05

@elephantofrisk he hates announcement days as generally SG don't release the guidance for a few days leaving the LAs who have to enforce stuff with businesses and events getting loads of queries having to say we don't know details yet...... Meanwhile businesses are getting irritated trying to get everything sorted.

The last 18 months has knackered him and some of the aggro he's got from members of the public is disgusting! Hes had a local witch hunt against him at Xmas for having to enforce what NS had cancelled including counsellors trying to force disciplinary action! Thankfully his head of service stuck by him!

He needs a good holiday abroad in the sun with a kids club for DS I'm hoping to see if we can get a last minute deal in Sept flying from England.

ElephantOfRisk · 03/08/2021 21:10

That sounds hard. Hopefully you manage to get away. I'm hoping we do next year but can't book anything ever until DH gets his holidays confirmed probably next January at a minimum, i'll just have to dream about it for now.

titsintiers · 03/08/2021 21:13

Hope you get something sorted @Scottishskifun you guys deserve a holiday

GoldenOmber · 03/08/2021 21:21

That’s awful Scottishskifun. So many LA staff have had such a hard time of it. Hope you get your nice relaxing holiday!

latissimusdorsi · 03/08/2021 21:29

@ResilienceWanker

Re the masked dancing - one of the exemptions in the Regulations is that you don't have to wear a mask when "taking part in exercise of a type which reasonably requires that the person is not wearing a face covering". I think it's reasonable that you can't wear a mask while stripping the willow, just like you can't when running on a treadmill or swimming. Can wedding ceilidhs not just rebrand as exercise classes and then they'll be fine?! (same for nightclub boogieing, though other exercise undertaken there may be more difficult to argue for that exemption Grin).

I think wedding guests will just have to do The Slosh for every dance
That's a group exercise class

GoldenOmber · 03/08/2021 21:32

Maybe just for the fast dances? Mask off for Strip the Willow, back on again for St Bernard’s Waltz. Off for the Macarena, back on again when your mate insists they put Angels by Robbie Williams on and you have to stand there vaguely swaying until it’s over.
