@WouldBeGood

I think it’s actually becoming more ludicrous and illogical *@ElephantOfRisk*. If that were possible!
I agree. those of us trying to apply logic are the most frustrated I think.
ElephantOfRisk · 03/08/2021 16:14

Bit tired for a full blown orgy but could cope with chatting to a stranger.

titsintiers · 03/08/2021 16:17

I'd need a balaclava and full body Spanx for the orgy

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 16:17

And it’s being billed as her lifting restrictions.? I don’t get this

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 16:18

I’ll be fuelled by wine @ElephantOfRisk - if I brave the deadly supermarket to get it 😂

Scottishskifun · 03/08/2021 16:24

@ElephantOfRisk

So, mass orgy indoors or out is fine. Walking round a half empty supermarket is risky as feck. Mask on a train (looking at you thicko sturgeons sister) but can take it off at a restaurant table but still need to wear it for the 5 steps from the door or to go to the loo?

Makes no fucking sense once again.

As long as its in a private home don't forget, the strippers will still need to wear a mask (as I saw on the other thread 😂)

Do you think they will have matching Fluffy thongs to their face masks?!

GoldenOmber · 03/08/2021 16:25

Just catching up on the announcement.

Well for fuck’s sake.

Pootle40 · 03/08/2021 16:26

[quote ResilienceWanker]On the plus side - I think restaurants, theatres, cinemas, gigs etc can now go back to full capacity (as long as

@WouldBeGood

That was my point earlier-nothing is really changing?! It's shit
ElephantOfRisk · 03/08/2021 16:28

I'd expect no less but hope they don't get them muddled up .

titsintiers · 03/08/2021 16:29

😆😆😆😆 brings a whole new meaning to disco fanny @ElephantOfRisk

ElephantOfRisk · 03/08/2021 16:34

DH was outdoors at a cafe in the arse end of nowhere having a coffee after doing a hill walk. Just him and the guy he'd been walking with (shred a car) and was asked to log into the track and trace stuff. DH only recently realised there is an app etc. He just said he doesn't do technology so they gave him a piece of paper - unfortunately he struggled to write legibly and thinks he got about 5 digits of his phone number wrong. He's not irresponsible, he needs to test twice a week for work but come on, it's fecking ridiculous - not blaming the cafe - but really? We don't check in on trains or buses do we?

TheGenealogist · 03/08/2021 16:48

@ElephantOfRisk

I don't have kids at school or am particularly cosy with any teachers but i have half a brain so can work it out.

Nothing said about Unis I take it so they can do what they want to? Which in a lot of cases will be to keep blended or remote I suppose. Might be another year of paying rent when DS hasn't stepped foot in the Uni since march 2020.

My DS who is starting uni in October has been told that until Christmas at least, all lectures of 50+ will be online. Smaller tutorials, labs and practicals are in person.

But first year is more lectures and less tutorials, so he'll be spending most of his time sitting in his bedroom. As per.

GoldenOmber · 03/08/2021 16:50

I would like somebody to ask her what happened to measures staying in place only when strictly necessary and not a moment longer? Because it feels like we’re past strictly necessary, especially seeing England’s cases fall, and yet… here we still are.

latissimusdorsi · 03/08/2021 16:55

About the only thing Boris Johnston has ever said which I agree with
"If not now, when?"

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 16:56

Even the o2 academy 🤷🏻‍♀️

MorrisZapp · 03/08/2021 17:00

Ok I'm confused. Will civil servants be expected to work in offices again, so the public can access services?

Or is the 'because covid' email fob off with us until next year?

latissimusdorsi · 03/08/2021 17:04

But @TheGenealogist and @ElephantOfRisk that's another anomaly that makes no sense
Why is it fine to have hundreds of people in a theatre or cinema which, although enjoyable, are leisure activities we could live without
But it's not ok for 100 engineering/ nursing/pharmacy etc students who's education is vital to the future of the country to sit in a lecture theatre

TheGenealogist · 03/08/2021 17:07

No, everyone to continue to work from home.

And therefore people like my parents cannot access the support they desperately require.

Scottishskifun · 03/08/2021 17:07

I think most are moving to hybrid working be it SG, UK civil service or local authority. DH was saying that they were allowing some return to offices based on "business need" or welfare of staff (especially the ones who have been working on a bed for 18 months!). But it sounds like it's going to be a slow opening of the offices.

DH is close to burn out with the amount of extra work hes been doing for covid for the LA though just from home instead!

No offices are likely to go to all staff in all of the time though in the public sector think a lot has switched to hybrid for good.

I agree. But I think partly that has been due to the really late announcement of the changes. Unis need to arrange rooms, timetables and so on for September in April or May. They had to assume some restrictions would be in place, or if they'd planned for 200 people in a room and that was banned, because they kept 1m distancing, they'd be stuffed and would have to go back to 100% online because they wouldn't have the space or staff to cover, say, 4 lectures instead of 1. At least this way they've got something which is a) allowed and b) works practically in ensuring everyone has some face to face while getting the necessary teaching. It's obviously shit for many students, but it could have been a lot shitter.
latissimusdorsi · 03/08/2021 17:23

Ah that makes sense @ResilienceWanker
But I imagine there's going to be complaints from students about that as universities can't justify it on keeping students safe now that they can head out to a full cinema after their online lecture
It's an operational issue really

goldengoldfish · 03/08/2021 17:39

Was there any mention of further review dates or periods to consider the ongoing restrictions and conditions?

YeDancer · 03/08/2021 17:43

Hang on, when will exams be back to normal? 2023 or even longer? Did anyone anywhere actually say?

Rae36 · 03/08/2021 17:52

The BBC are reporting "Most Covid Rules To End In Scotland on 9th August"

It doesn't feel that way to me
