Thanks mibbe! Yes, I think I'm 95% there. Still a bit dizzy and lightheaded at times, and my balance seems to have gone to pot (not that it was that great to begin with), but I don't feel ill at all. Oh, and I can't smell anything, or taste very much, but I know that can last a while and I'm only on week 2! And though it's a bit annoying, it makes cleaning out the cat's litter tray (and indeed, living with DH and DS in a heatwave) much less grim while it lasts. So swings and roundabouts...

Grellbunt · 16/07/2021 18:43

@mibbelucieachwell

Thinking about scottishski and anyone else suffering badly from long covid. Apologiesif this is irrelevant but just in case it could be helpful, have you looked into behaviours said to 'reset' the immune system? I know, very vague. I was thinking specifically of fasting and cold water 'therapy'. A very strict low carb diet or fasting has anecdotal evidence for being helpful for some autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. Neither sounds very appealing to me but might be worth looking into.

Resilience are you recovered?

I felt cold for four months after Covid until I plucked up the courage to get into the sea again, in April (no wetsuit) - that did the trick!

Fits with it being a circulatory disease.

Also recommended:
Iron supplements
Vitamins
Lemon juice and honey
Lots of sleep
Stretching
Those prickly balls for rolling underfoot- makes the nerves wake right up

I wanted to mention cold water swimming but was worried I’d sound mad 😀. It’s amazingly good for my pain.

Grellbunt · 16/07/2021 19:24

Not mad. V stimulating.

riverrunning · 16/07/2021 19:27

I've got three friends (who don't know each other) who absolutely rave about swimming in the sea in all weathers.

ResilienceWanker · 16/07/2021 19:45

Eeek. I'm sure it's very stimulating, but I'm not sure I could bring myself to go that far!

It's funny, because DH has been complaining about having lost his temperature control, and has been feeling cold a lot of the time - since about Christmas (not now... Now we're all melting). And he's been a bit wobbly, achey and headachey too, and really, really tired (I said it sounds like he's going through the menopause Grin) . He even spoke to the GP who did blood tests around Easter and said basically "sounds like it's a virus" and wasn't worried. It did go away a bit after his first jag, which he assumed was just coincidence, and that was it going away, but came back a couple of weeks ago, so we'll see if his second jag today sorts it again. It's odd, but we were wondering if he actually had totally asymptomatic covid (or some other virus) that has manifested as these post-viral symptoms several months later. Though how you can tell if it was undiagnosed asymptomatic covid, vs not having covid at all I have no idea!

I'll suggest he goes for a swim in the Forth. See how that goes down.. Grin

Grellbunt · 16/07/2021 19:47

It's free! Worth a try....

ResilienceWanker · 16/07/2021 19:52

"Free" in the sense of having to budget for the pre-and post-dip whiskys and/or marriage counselling...

Grellbunt · 16/07/2021 19:53

Flask of tea and some shortbread and you're laughing ;-)

ElephantOfRisk · 16/07/2021 20:16

DS finally got to see the consultant today for his hearing loss /tinnitus. Turns out he's waited so long that the hearing test he had done now needs to be redone. For some reason ear nose and throat couldn't give him a hearing test so he is essentially back to square 1, so infuriating.

YeDancer · 17/07/2021 14:12

Railing against TUI who have cancelled our trip to Greece without any explanation but doing the same holiday from England (albeit more money). I know Greece is amber but we are double vaccinated and really wanted a holiday. We aren't going to change to another holiday or airport. We've decided we are just fed up with it all. We don't even want to go on holiday in the UK as its all stuff we've seen before. Gutted Sad

riverrunning · 17/07/2021 14:25

On what basis @YeDancer ? We are allowed to go to amber countries from 19th - that absolutely sucks...

YeDancer · 17/07/2021 14:28

No idea!
The fact I can't get a flight from any Scottish airport, only English airports makes me suspicious its a Scottish government thing but TUI didn't say.
Just got an email saying my holiday is cancelled and I can change to another airport, another holiday or get a refund.
As all other options involved more money (even with the TUI money off incentive to rebook), I just decided it isn't worth the hassle.
But really disappointed.

Groovee · 17/07/2021 15:03

I'd be gutted too @YeDancer

WouldBeGood · 17/07/2021 15:05

That’s shite @YeDancer

titsintiers · 17/07/2021 16:01

It's totally shite @YeDancer

Getting away from all this bullshit would be just the ticket.

latissimusdorsi · 17/07/2021 17:24

Oh no that's crap @YeDancer
What a disappointment

Wonder if there's just not enough people booking to make flights financially viable from Scotland?
I don't know anyone irl who's going out with uk

runningpink · 17/07/2021 17:54

@WouldBeGood how is your dad? Did you manage to get to see him?

WouldBeGood · 17/07/2021 19:19

Thanks @runningpink he’s fine, thanks but obnoxious as ever. Despite him being exposed to Covid in there they’ve granted me special permission to visit to advise whether he’s demented or just horrible 🙄

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 17/07/2021 19:24

I'm sorry about your dad but that did make me laugh.

So you've basically to visit and tell them whether he's just being his normal self?

WouldBeGood · 17/07/2021 19:40

Yes @ElephantOfRisk 😂😂

When the penny dropped with me I said that to the woman and she laughed and said that she had been trying to say that nicely 😂

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 17/07/2021 20:10

must be hard for them when they don't know your Dad, trying to decide if he's generally grumpy or ill. It's good that they are trying to work it out though! Grin

Grellbunt · 17/07/2021 20:21

@latissimusdorsi

I'm concerned that all this shit is going to see the loss of routes from Scotland, permanently.
WouldBeGood · 17/07/2021 20:34

They have been absolutely amazing @ElephantOfRisk
