Oh, I love seeing/ hearing kids being kids. We had an end of term concert at school (brilliant band) and the kids were full of joy and dancing like there's no tomorrow.

WouldBeGood · 25/07/2021 19:06

I like that @StarryEyeSurprise. I don’t like giant children yelling and shrieking for hours, not any piercing screaming. It’s just rude of you have neighbours and I didn’t let mine do it.

It’s not just me being a cow, my other neighbour offered me her garden while she’s away as it’s so so mental noisy at mine.

In the meantime I’m browsing websites for remote plots … 😂

But in good news, a massive drop in cases in England again today. Things are looking promising.

A neighbour offered you her garden - it must be a lot of noise would you hardly strike me as the intolerant type.

ElephantOfRisk · 25/07/2021 20:02

I'm kinda the opposite or maybe not? Next door has 4 ranging from 18 to 8 and she's also a childminder and she has a pool and a trampoline and pets and yet I've only ever had two issues with noise. Eldest having a few drunken parties until 4am and counting, and when one of them kept booting a ball off the fence. Otherwise grand, don't mind the mindee toddlers chit chatting, laughing etc and the older kids having fun. All very normal.

We have quite a lot of kids in the street, regularly out playing 99% of it doesn't bother me, when about 4 of them all decide to play basketball but each have a ball and bounce bounce bounce and nothing in rhythm but overall I'm genuinely happy to have the kids all out playing, same as my own did.

But, and it's a big but, we have a family that moved into a house to the (diagonal) back of me, in the winter of 19 with a toddler and a young baby. Come spring and lock down, shouty dad and very loud toddler out from the crack of dawn anytime it's sunny or at least warm and dry. Now there are two of them that get catapulted out into the garden anytime from after 7. Shout and scream in happiness for a few minutes, then shout and greet for about 10 then get taken in. It's literally the first thing I hear every day and i'm generally a pretty good sleeper. They are just really loud and dad seems to encourage it. Doing my nut in but there is really nothing I can do that isn't petty, nasty or illegal - don't think I haven't thought about all of those things though.

WouldBeGood · 25/07/2021 20:14

I’m not @riverrunning, I’ve always lived close to neighbours and love the buzz of life, kids playing, parties, but this place is a whole new level!

@ElephantOfRisk I too have an Enthusiastic Dad next door. He runs round the garden roaring as the children proper scream. It goes on all day- but happily they are away on holiday. 😃

And Important Phone Call Man beside me too.

I was thinking of creating a soundscape thing of a day here. Dead arty, like.

Oh I'm not judging- must be bad for your other neighbour to offer you her garden!

Do it! Sounds of '21... Grin

Yeah @StarryEyeSurprise I nearly cried as I felt so relieved it’s not just me

I’ll get onto the modern art gallery. I also like their cafe so it will be well worth my artistic endeavours

It's not just me either, neighbour directly to the back of shouty family is getting her 6 foot fence double skinned to stop them constantly staring into her garden (not so much the kids....) and hopely cut down some of the noise.
WouldBeGood · 25/07/2021 20:27

Oh lord, @ElephantOfRisk!

I think the main issue is that our houses face east/west. Our front is east and their back is, so they get the best of the sun in the morning and their garden isn't that big so they don't get so much of the south sun either. we get the best of the sun from mid morning in the back and until sunset as our garden is about 3 times the size of theirs. So, i think they have positioned their chair and tables and trampoline right next to neighbours fence for some reason. It was an older couple before who sat out closer to the back of their own house.

However obviously it's not up to us to tell them how to set out or use their garden.

titsintiers · 25/07/2021 21:15

We double skinned our fence as soon as the neighbours moved in too. Feels like a big f you but it's not meant to be and we all deserve our privacy. Planting g the noisiest boundaries has helped. I can't help thinking that if we all were considerate of one another none of this would be necessary. But here we are.

indeed. We've never had any issues before and I don't have any border fence with the perpetrators in this case - they back onto my next door neighbour.
ElephantOfRisk · 25/07/2021 21:18

childminder neighbour, no issues, neighbour to the back, very quiet plus they have plants, no neighbour directly on the other side.

titsintiers · 25/07/2021 21:25

Lots of people are dicks though.....

Yes, @titsintiers.

They are. I'm sure i'm one myself sometimes. I just wish the dicks would take a day off now and then. I'm an atheist who's currently praying for rain so I can get a lie in.

So, apparently Humza said today that we are on track for most restrictions to be lifted on 9th August, but Our Leader is going to announce this on 3rd August, so a week tomorrow….

What’s the chances?!

Oh God I really hope so. It would be great to be able to go somewhere without booking, and not worry about numbers of people at gatherings etc. And to be able to book a routine GP appointment again!

The so-called 'English experiment' seems to be working out better than anyone's wildest dreams thus far (we'll need to give it another week or so clearly, but it's starting to look doubtful that 100k/day will be met let alone higher), so it will be become harder to justify keeping us locked up for longer than an additional three weeks.
