I loathe Nicola but I'm glad she wants teens jagged because I want my DD to be able to go places, including abroad, freely. I don't want her getting covid. I don't want her missing school due to lockdowns or self isolation. I don't want her falling behind in her education. I'm all for giving everyone the jag (unless medically exempt)

shouldistop · 20/07/2021 20:56

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us I'm a bit worried about that for ds2 as he'll be starting nursery in December when he turns 1. I feel like he's going to catch everything going at once.
I positively encourage children at the park to hold his hands and stroke his face etc so he's not just living in a totally germ free environment. Ds1 has only picked up 1 cold in the past 18 months.

Direwolfwrangler · 20/07/2021 21:03

@TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong the flu vaccine is being offered to all kids at secondary school. All teaching and support staff (including nursery) are also getting the same offer.

titsintiers · 20/07/2021 21:03

I know what you mean @shouldistop but I think that's happen regardless. Our two had constant sniffles for the first few months at nursery but were pretty robust afterwards. Until last year.....

Any cold I've had this year has taken an age to shift, happened after kids went back to school, both times.

forfucksakenett · 20/07/2021 21:04

@Lockdownbear if you're an arm chair scientist / know it all then yes I'm having a dig at you. If not, then no I'm not.

Spelling is not a sign of intelligence but if Scotsnet has taught me anything then you don't need a good reason to be a snidey bastard about folk. See just about every comment on this thread about Nicola Sturgeon as examples.

And while it's not a sign of intelligence it does grate a bit the constant misspellings of your/ you're and there/ their/ they're from people getting all judgemental on their high horse.

WouldBeGood · 20/07/2021 21:04

I’ll consider the jag for my boy when I’m sure it’s safe and that the benefits outweigh the risks. I’m in no rush

@Groovee and @MaxNormal so sorry to hear about your friend/your experience with not being able to have the vaccine

I really hope the government put something in place for those people who genuinely can’t be vaccinated.

I am another who is fed up with the false promises and has no idea of the current rules.
When will we get to make our own decisions again like the adults we are.

WouldBeGood · 20/07/2021 21:18

I’m also railing as I keep seeing posts for my favourite artists playing gigs and festivals in the US- but a far off dream here

@forfucksakenett 😂 didn't realise you were the grammar and spelling police!

Suggest if you don't like my spelling mistakes then don't read my posts! As someone with dyslexia I do pretty well with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in science! It also hasn't prevented me publishing and being co-authors on research papers either 😉

shouldistop · 20/07/2021 21:28

@titsintiers yeah, possibly. Ds1 was at a lot of baby groups in his first year so he picked up more stuff. Ds2 goes to nothing Shock

forfucksakenett · 20/07/2021 21:30

@Scottishskifun good for you! Well done.

I'm the spelling police and you're the long covid police or maybe the everything in Scotland is worse than in England police. You can decide which speciality you'd prefer - you're 👌🏻 in both.

We're all allowed our own little moans surely?

Bytheloch · 20/07/2021 21:30

Pedant AND SG/NS defence squad. Quite the multitasker, @forfucksakenett

StarryEyeSurprise · 20/07/2021 21:31

@MaxNormal I'm sorry you've been through so much ill health and I hope they don't introduce vaccine passports or if they do, people such as yourself are still able to get one/travel. Vaccines don't stop transmission so they don't make much sense in my opinion.

WouldBeGood · 20/07/2021 21:32

That’s actually a really horrible thing to say to @Scottishskifun about long Covid, and you should maybe take that back @forfucksakenett

Thanks!

forfucksakenett · 20/07/2021 21:39

@WouldBeGood no I won't take it back. Every single post just about is a moan that the SG isn't doing enough to tackle long covid hence my comment.

She is of course entitled to that opinion. I am entitled to be irritated by it.

I don't see how that's horrible particularly when she wants all restrictions gone which suggests she doesn't really give a toss about people actually catching long covid.

WouldBeGood · 20/07/2021 21:40

She has long Covid…?

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 20/07/2021 21:41

I think it’s very clear who doesn’t give a toss. Which is helpful, I suppose

OP posts:
Scottishskifun · 20/07/2021 21:42

@forfucksakenett low blow on long covid I truly hope you or no one in your family has to go through this. If they are unfortunate enough to end up with long covid maybe you will realise just how shit it is getting next to no support and feel like a spectator to family life unable to play with children and do basic tasks that you take for granted every day.

forfucksakenett · 20/07/2021 21:44

Yes I'm aware. Which makes it utterly bizarre, in my opinion, that she has absolutely no desire to protect others from catching it.

You also want all restrictions gone and have many a time said that you don't really care about folk catching long covid so I'm not sure why you're so faux horrified just now Hmm

forfucksakenett · 20/07/2021 21:45

Read it again. There was no low blow.

ElephantOfRisk · 20/07/2021 21:47

It's funny, you'd like to think that a teacher would be more understanding about people with dyslexia and you'd also like to think that someone who styles themselves as open minded would be more, well, open minded?

forfucksakenett · 20/07/2021 21:48

Okay so let me get this straight:

Remove all restrictions because 'enough is enough' and let folk catch covid / long covid = giving a toss

Wanting restrictions still in place to, you know, maybe prevent folk catching covid/ long covid = not giving a toss

Gotcha 👍🏻 Hmm

WouldBeGood · 20/07/2021 21:49

I haven’t said I don’t care about it. I’ve said I don’t think it should stop us opening up. I would like people to be treated properly for medical conditions.

Yes, I want restrictions lifted. That doesn’t mean I don’t care about people: far from it.

It wasn’t a nice thing you said.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 20/07/2021 21:50

Jesus @forfucksakenett, it's abundantly clear from her posts that @Scottishskifun has been suffering greatly from long COVID with little/no help forthcoming from the Scottish NHS. When you're left to your own devices and have to rely on private treatment just to get some symptomatic relief, I think a person is perfectly within their rights to complain that the SG has done precisely fuck all to deal with the problem. Even more so when England has been running several dozen specialised clinics for quite some time, and when our FM takes every bloody opportunity to lecture us all on the dangers of long COVID!
