Thanks @dancemom
Great news about your jag!

dancemom · 29/05/2021 14:24

I'm so glad I went! It was due to open at 11am, I arrived at 10 and there was maybe 15 in the queue ahead of me. Although several had been there from 8am! However within half an hour there must have been at least 150 in the queue, they were handing out bottles of water and by the time I left just after 11am they were posting on social media that demand was high and it was a 3 hour wait!

Great news on second dose!

Good to see drop in clinics extended in Glasgow! They definitely seem to be popular in Grampian. I think the SG has realised that letters with set appointment times don't work for all....... Big shock!

ssd · 29/05/2021 18:54

Dh got his 2nd vaccination at a clinic today, thanks so much for that link above.

ssd · 29/05/2021 18:55

He waited 2 hours but said it was very well managed

ssd · 29/05/2021 18:57

@Haudyourwheesht

They're rolling out loads more vaccines in Glasgow. They're doing everyone in the 4 most affected postcodes and there's going to be a mobile unit in the Southside next week that will do anyone who turns up (I believe) which is good for those who work in these areas but don't live there. The numbers in moray are much smaller - easier to vaccinate everyone, hence the island authorities being done.
Thanks for that info. Would you mind posting any information about people who work in the southside but dont live there being able to get vaccinated at a mobile unit? Thanks

Just seen 18-29 year olds can now register online

Scottishskifun · 30/05/2021 14:36

I don't know whether it should be a 😂 or a 🙄 face at JS saying today that the letter system was not working on the younger population.......

I mean seriously! It must have been 3 months ago that this forum started pointing out it was slow and not necessarily working as well! How can they not have that foresight????!!! It was bloody obvious that was going to be the case!

dancemom · 30/05/2021 14:52

• 526 new cases of COVID-19 reported
• 17,698 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
â—¦ 3.2% of these were positive
• 0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends)
• 3,234,311 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 2,022,728 have received their second dose

Come now, you can't expect too much! They've only just realised that the vaccines are neutralising the impact of COVID despite that being the entire point of the rollout!

In all seriousness though the lack of proper planning and foresight is very worrying and raises serious questions about their processes. With a logistical exercise of this scale they should have had a range of voices planning the vaccine roll out from Autumn of last year, and all of these entirely predictable issues should have been foreseen and planned for. Instead they seem to have just piggy backed on the existing letter system and hoped for the best.

WouldBeGood · 30/05/2021 15:14

Yes, and this forum also suggested long hours vaccine clinics months ago to maximise administration of the vaccine.

WouldBeGood · 30/05/2021 15:17

They’re maybe distracted by the resignation of the treasurer over his inability to get them to provide proper information on their finances.

charliebrown59 · 30/05/2021 15:24

I can only hope that there was some compelling unknown administrative reason they stuck to letter based appointments for so long, the idea that they truly were such poor planners seems hard to accept!

I agree you in yet more shocking revelations, vaccines work and the roll out needs to be as fast possible...

I'm hoping we don't end up with another mini lock down so that people can get their second doses and the people that don't take them up can get jabbed.

Scottishskifun · 30/05/2021 15:33

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us yes it does raise serious questions I don't believe nobody would have raised this as a potential issue though in the beginning which means that they chose to ignore it and now its biting them on the bum especially if it means vaccinations are wasted as Pfizer cannot be stored easily for another day!

I think I'm thankful to live in a health board area which has gone against the official line the last few weeks and cracked on with drop ins not limited by age and set up call up appointments for the over 30s. But it shouldn't be a postcode lottery and it's so frustrating for others in other parts of the country!

ScotlandUnited · 30/05/2021 15:54

So I have an interview soon for a home based job with occasional travel to London. I'd rather stay permanent WFH but that's looking unlikely. Very few jobs offering this option being advertised.

But anyway, what are the rules re: travel from here to London? What if BJ removes all restrictions but we're still in level 2 up here?

Haudyourwheesht · 30/05/2021 16:00

You've always been allowed to travel for work.

No issues for the travel itself, I doubt they will remove the mask requirement for public transport regardless!
charliebrown59 · 30/05/2021 16:01

if the scot gov puts local rules in place that you can't travel to a hot spot such as London, your firm would have to abide by that if they agree your place of usual work on your contract as Scotland, I'd have thought.

latissimusdorsi · 30/05/2021 16:01

@ScotlandUnited travel for work is considered essential so has always been allowed, even in lockdown. I know someone who has continued to commute to London regularly

Haudyourwheesht · 30/05/2021 16:02

@ssd

This is what I saw, but it's AZ on the bus so only for over 40s.

ScotlandUnited · 30/05/2021 16:09

Its not a job that needs travel IMO, hence my annoyance at lack of remote jobs, so many of them could be remote.

I can't do face masks due to disability so that's another problem with travel.

ScotlandUnited · 30/05/2021 16:16

They're planning walk in jag days in my area in June. I got my first one in April. Can I attend then even though its not quite been 10 weeks? Will I get the same jag? Do I need to book? Will it be mobbed? I'm so confused!

Mistressiggi · 30/05/2021 16:39

I think you have to get the same type don't you?

WouldBeGood · 30/05/2021 16:44

@ScotlandUnited you’re definitely allowed to travel for work so your trip would be ok. And if you’re exempt from mark wearing you wouldn’t need to wear one on public transport.

As recently your jag, have you checked on the missing appointment online thing? I did that and found mine is for 13th June although no letter yet.

ScotlandUnited · 30/05/2021 16:47

I thought that was just to say you needed an appointment and they contacted you, not to actually get the date. Can you give me the link again?
