It's not just hospitality suffering.
DH is heading off to a sporting event this weekend. There's clubs from various parts of Scotland taking part. Organisers held the bookings open for the Glasgow clubs until this afternoon in hope but no, sadly no-one from Glasgow can take part

Perihelion · 28/05/2021 19:21

I wonder what will they do in a week's time when Dundee, Edinburgh, South and North Lanarkshire all join the 100/100,000 club?

randomsabreuse · 28/05/2021 19:28

www.nhsggc.org.uk/your-health/health-issues/covid-19-coronavirus/for-patients-the-public/covid-vaccinations/drop-in-vaccinations/#

Drop in vaccs for over 40s and people who had 1st vaccs in March. Variety of locations in the common week.

dancemom · 28/05/2021 20:08

I had my vaccination in March but it's not quite 10 weeks yet, I wonder if I could attend?

Worst they can do is turn you away.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 28/05/2021 20:16

They said you can use a drop in clinic for a second jab.

ssd · 28/05/2021 20:19

Thanks for the link, dh will go.

ssd · 28/05/2021 20:26

My neighbour registered recently as an unpaid carer as she help her gran, but she hasn't been given an appointment yet. I think she about 27ish. Is there any vaccination places set up for someone in her position?

latissimusdorsi · 28/05/2021 20:36

@ssd I'm not sure if they're still doing unpaid carers. The couple of people I know were done about 2 months ago. When did she register?

TheMShip · 28/05/2021 20:42

@ssd has she rung the vaccination info line or tried the online form?

Haudyourwheesht · 28/05/2021 20:49

Something makes me think the unpaid carers thing has ended.

ssd · 28/05/2021 21:29

I think she registered recently. But i dont know what else shes done, she was just telling me she has a text saying shes registered but hasn't heard anything back yet. But maybe if its finished she wont.

latissimusdorsi · 28/05/2021 22:16

@ssd I think she'll need to ring the vaccination line then. The 2 people I know had appointment issued within couple days of registering. But that was weeks ago

tiredoftiers · 29/05/2021 08:43

Three tweets in a row on my Twitter feed:
The first of you are 30 or over in aberdeen get your first covid vaccination by calling a number.
The second tweet, Glasgow remains in level three.
The third tweet from NHS greater Glasgow if you are over 40 then drop in clinics are running.

Why when moray stayed in tier 3 did the offer vaccinations to all over 18s? But the same hasn’t happened in Glasgow, only the over the 40. But in aberdeen they are mopping up the over 30s who haven’t had theirs/missed theirs.
Seems there’s a huge disparity with the vaccine delivery across Scotland.

Haudyourwheesht · 29/05/2021 08:59

They're rolling out loads more vaccines in Glasgow. They're doing everyone in the 4 most affected postcodes and there's going to be a mobile unit in the Southside next week that will do anyone who turns up (I believe) which is good for those who work in these areas but don't live there. The numbers in moray are much smaller - easier to vaccinate everyone, hence the island authorities being done.

Scottishskifun · 29/05/2021 09:00

@tiredoftiers NHS Grampian decided to move some vaccines about to do the over 18s in Moray. I think the smaller population number allowed them to do this with doses allocated.

NHS Grampian are finding a higher no show recently which is probably why they have set it up, they have also done drop in days and walk in clinics not dependant on age. Many in Aberdeen also work offshore and due to letter based system may have missed the letter in the first place. Its up to the health boards how to deliver the doses they have received.

Glasgow has a much higher population so I'm assuming due to logistics its more difficult. Fully appreciate though that's it's very frustrating, Grampian was behind for ages in vaccines but have really ramped up last couple of weeks.

tiredoftiers · 29/05/2021 09:17

I’m more sure why a larger population makes logistics harder? Larger population should mean more resources to call on. I feel that if a 40 year old living in Aberdeenshire was vaccinated a month ago, then a 40 year old living in Glasgow should have been vaccinated then too, with higher priority due to the risk factor of living within a higher density population.
Health inequality maintained for the city with the shame of the Glasgow effect, it’s heartbreaking.

Exactly. Really it should be easier to vaccine a place like Glasgow, logistically anyway, compared to more rural populations.
Cismyfatarse · 29/05/2021 09:54

I find myself shocked that resources (vaccine, testing etc) are only now being given to Glasgow.

We don't tackle inequality by telling people living in poor, crowded, virus prone communities to wait their turn.

It seems to me there is this slight whiff of blame attached to those who catch it in Glasgow. They must be breaking the rules so did them.

It makes me cross. And rates are rising in Dundee and people are apportioning blame for (legitimate) pub going or meeting family.

We really do have to move on from this Victorian idea of those who are struggling being to blame.

This should have happened months ago. I don't live in Glasgow but do not understand how folk there have been so stoic. It is some trick St Nicola has pulled off - convincing them she is doing all she can.

Cismyfatarse · 29/05/2021 09:55

*did them = blame them.

Curse this auto carrot

Scottishskifun · 29/05/2021 10:01

@tiredoftiers it's number of vaccinators available, spaces which can deliver the vaccines (need to be well ventilated) and storage capability especially for Pfizer and moderna.

Agree people should have at the same time but the numbers in Glasgow don't allow for it they can only deliver so many in a day.
For large vaccination centres for Glasgow they would be a quarter way through the same age group as Aberdeen finishes in 2 days.

If you look at the numbers of jabs actually delivered rather then percentage then Glasgow is storming ahead, its just there are more people.

We all know SG should have targeted the issue in Glasgow months ago. They didn't and although they are trying now they are on the back foot with it.
But holding other areas back whilst Glasgow catches up makes no sense either hence Islands did their over 18s ages ago as it made more sense just to get through the doses they had.

Scottishskifun · 29/05/2021 10:07

@Cismyfatarse completely agree the blame culture is horrendous! It's a success to the govt adverts!

I have long covid and had several comments of what rule was I breaking to catch covid...... 🙄 I politely point out its a virus doing what viruses do and we caught it from my DS nursery. No rules were broken just asystomatic cases til it hit me and DH!

dancemom · 29/05/2021 11:17
