He’s a total useless wanker, swinney

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 22/06/2021 14:57

No changes to levels anywhere next week, so at least no-one is going up again.

The vaccination hub near to us (in South Lanarkshire) has been unusually quiet the last couple of days which I hope isn't a sign of more issues with the vaccine roll out.

florafoxtrot · 22/06/2021 14:59

@Pootle40

There was a backlog in cases from a couple of regions I believe so will look worse today.
A delay in cases from NHS Grampian meaning an extra 15 cases added to today's total.

"He's claiming they did actually send an email to MSPs on Thursday, which is the same thing... "

So hiding information in an email is the same as presenting it and allowing others to scrutinise said information now is it? I'll have to remember that next time there's something difficult I need to communicate at work. These are the sleekit muppets that Scotland chose to lead us 🙄

charliebrown59 · 22/06/2021 15:11

And which MSP was responsible for communicating to Manchester?

Yup. Exactly the same. And he actually claimed it was their fault they hadn't noticed it. Hmm Must have been one of those people who didn't read the email who should have told Andy Burnham. That was in the email too. Wink Tosser.
WouldBeGood · 22/06/2021 15:20

She said Andy Burnham should have rung her 😂

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 22/06/2021 15:21

August 😭 can't remember what thread I was on but I said that earlier today that's basically the kids whole summer

ResilienceWanker · 22/06/2021 15:21

Anyway - good news! Back to normal on 9th August. Apart from advice to distance and advice to meet outside. And sanitising, and masks in shops and public transport. And probably no foreign travel. And we won't demand people return to offices. And you'll still have to quarantine if ill (though it sounded not if you're a close contact). But no mandated distancing outside and no limits on people outside. Whoohooo.

ResilienceWanker · 22/06/2021 15:22

Yes. That was in the email too. Though they didn't copy it to him.
SoMuchForSummerLove · 22/06/2021 15:23

What's the 9th August? I was only half listening and thought she said 19th July for something?

Damn work encroaching on my real life Grin

WouldBeGood · 22/06/2021 15:23

Are you joking with those continued restrictions @ResilienceWanker..? 😱

WouldBeGood · 22/06/2021 15:24

And a week before schools go back here. Fucking marvellous

latissimusdorsi · 22/06/2021 15:28

Yeah haven't learned any lessons from last summer. Piss away the summer with restrictions and then into the winter again!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 22/06/2021 15:31

After the 9th August will there still be restrictions on the numbers of people who can meet inside? And will there still be distancing requirements in restaurants etc.? Will we still need to wear masks or will that change to 'advice'?

latissimusdorsi · 22/06/2021 15:32

there's 40 more people in hospital with Covid than a week ago.
What I really really really want to know is that 40 more people who needed admitted to hospital for Covid treatment (which is a bit worrying) or is it just a reflection of the higher case numbers in general so more people who are in hospital for something else have tested positive?

ResilienceWanker · 22/06/2021 15:34

Sadly no wouldbegood. I may have embellished somewhat, but I think that's the gist... Law will change to guidance for most things though. Oh, and the "strategic aim" is now officially "living with it" rather than "suppressing to the lowest possible level" so we have officially tiered up the elimination strategy. So well predicted in your thread title dancemom!

19th July is when we should go down to tier zero, and they've changed what we'll be allowed to do then, so I think there will be no limit on outdoor gatherings, and general 1m distancing inside and no distancing outside.

Of course, this was all subject to Stuff. I think the aim is to get all over 40s second jagged by 28th July, or something like that, so 9th Aug gives a couple weeks leeway after then for immunity to kick in. Not sure if that is feasible... I'm mid 40s and only had my first jag on 27th may, so 8 weeks will take me up til about the 22nd July - so not sure how those younger will all fit in the following week. But hey, that's for them to sort out...

ResilienceWanker · 22/06/2021 15:38

I think there won't be limits, nor distancing requirements though, all together now, "Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD" Not entirely clear about masks... She said "in specific circumstances" and specifically mentioned shops and public transport, but it wasn't clear if that would still be law or just guidance, and whether other sectors would also be included.
itsjustlowhangingfruit · 22/06/2021 15:43

I'm confused

Will masks be required in offices, schools, universities?

How will the 1m distance affect offices, schools and universities?

Will WFH still be required with that rule?

ResilienceWanker · 22/06/2021 15:45

Yes, I want to know this too. If we're at, say, 1 in 500 people have covid in the population, and a month ago we were at 1 in 1000, (not exactly, but I think those are ballpark figures) you'd expect, roughly, the number of people in hospital with covid just by chance to have doubled. Which is roughly what we've seen.

And I agree with the general screaming on why end all restrictions just as the kids are back to school?! Though, to be fair, we are starting off from a better position in terms of what we can do ( in scotland/ uk) this summer than last summer. And I'd bloody well hope so too!

charliebrown59 · 22/06/2021 15:46

So we limp through another restricted summer, right before the kids go back we may be at some kind of poorly defined new normal. Small yay.

latissimusdorsi · 22/06/2021 15:49

@itsjustlowhangingfruit I got the impression wfh will be very gradually phased out as 1m distancing goes. And no I don't think masks will be required in workplace. She mentioned masks on public transport, think it will be in places where you don't know the people

ResilienceWanker · 22/06/2021 15:54

The BBC is saying...
"Nicola Sturgeon says she hopes that as we go to level 0 physical distancing will go from 2m to 1m - it is already 1m in hospitality.

She says she hopes to remove the legal physical distancing constraints outdoors completely at that point and that from 9 August the legal requirement can be removed indoors, as long as we have gone beyond level 0. But some people may be advised to continue to keep to a safe distance.

She says it may be that in some settings, such as schools, masks may still need to be worn for a bit longer."

Which is a bit different to what she said in her statement, so it's still all rather uncertain! I think indoors, everywhere, it will be 1m from 19th July (or whenever tier 0), with masks until at least 9th Aug. Wfh not required, but encouraged where poss. Though if 1m can't be maintained (I'd imagine it can in most offices, though maybe not education) it would be needed until that restriction goes? Who knows...
