Yep! Time for freedom

WouldBeGood · 18/06/2021 16:03

*I know I always say that, so it seemed fitting 😃 I know people disagree.

But there seems no spike in hospital numbers nor deaths.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 18/06/2021 16:27

No, no spike and that's really encouraging. I'd imagine it'll travel upwards for a few more weeks though, if we're (hopefully) at the peak of this upswing. I'd like to think so anyway, with numbers better today and 20k more people double-jabbed every day.

WouldBeGood · 18/06/2021 16:45

There was a traffic jam into local vaccination centre today @SoMuchForSummerLove. A god sign

dancemom · 19/06/2021 14:19

• 1,209 new cases of COVID-19 reported
• 28,809 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
◦ 4.5% of these were positive
• 2 new reported deaths of people who have tested positive
• 3,611,266 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 2,555,308 have received their second dose

A teaching colleague of mine has tested positive for covid. That’s the first teacher in our school. I’ve not been contacted by test and protect but have been in their room although more than 2 metres away (I think). Going for a test to be on safe side. We were doing so well as hadn’t had a single case since the return in March and have fallen at the last hurdle 😞

SoMuchForSummerLove · 19/06/2021 15:22

It really feels like wildfire just now. Looking at the neighbourhood map of Fife and it's so different to even 2/3 weeks ago.

WouldBeGood · 19/06/2021 15:40

We need to stop counting “cases” now.

Sorry to hear that. I hope they don't become too unwell.
LoopyGremlin · 19/06/2021 18:39

Thanks @StarryEyeSurprise
They seem to be well at the moment. The NHS have confirmed that I am not a close contact thankfully although I have gone for a test just to be on safe side. I have heard of another couple of people I know testing positive today. Edinburgh seems rife with it at the moment after being fairly low only a few weeks ago 😞

latissimusdorsi · 19/06/2021 19:00

How is your colleague @StarryEyeSurprise ?

StarryEyeSurprise · 20/06/2021 07:47

That's good you're not a close contact @LoopyGremlin. Yes, the holidays are definitely needed. Most won't be fully vaccinated come August which is a bit of a worry.

She's doing a bit better, thanks Latissi. She was really weak and struggled holding a glass before but now she can. Still very breathless though and not really able to walk around. I guess it'll just take time.

Does anyone know how long before a positive test the contact tracers go back. I know of someone who got a positive result today after their test yesterday and trying to work out if my son may be considered a contact and asked to isolate.

dancemom · 20/06/2021 17:59

It used to be 3 days from when they got their positive test result but I'm not sure that's current practice

Thank you.
mibbelucieachwell · 20/06/2021 18:50

My understanding was 48 hours before onset of symptoms, but a pupil who tested positive recently was asked for contacts from 5 days before! I don't know the exact details though.

dancemom · 20/06/2021 18:56

• names and contact details of any people you were in close contact with in the 48 hours before your symptoms started (if you know these details)

From the NHS website

OP posts:
mibbelucieachwell · 20/06/2021 19:13

That was my understanding and reading too dancemom. Not sure why they asked about people so many days before my pupil.

StarryEyeSurprise · 20/06/2021 19:15

Possibly attending school with symptoms?

dancemom · 20/06/2021 19:40

Getting near the end of the thread ... any new title suggestions?
