I can’t remember.

As I can’t have our party for DP’s 60th in September I was wondering about inviting his siblings and son out for dinner but it would be six households and 12 people

latissimusdorsi · 14/06/2021 21:52

Think It's only 3 households in level 1 or 2 but number of people different. What level are you?

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 21:54

Well, I’d want dinner in Glasgow. So probably hopeless even in September

charliebrown59 · 14/06/2021 21:55

Cases going up in schools, yes, and then what impact to holiday clubs etc? Will be yet another nightmare for working parents.

There's no guarantee that closing schools on its own will stop the spread either, only that and a more general lockdown worked last time.

I don't think the choice is as nice and easy as save summer travel by shutting schools again.

rookiemere · 14/06/2021 21:57

@WouldBeGood some places will put you at two tables right beside each other if your party doesn't fit current regulation guidelines.
Hopefully things will have calmed down by September, but what do I know.

Meanwhile SIL seems to be scuppering chances of us appearing as credible 2 households for English break ( its just about doable as they are a bona fide support bubble) by everyone wanting to bring a car. Nothing screams two households like five vehicles really.

latissimusdorsi · 14/06/2021 21:58

Level 0 is 10 people from 4 households in a restaurant,
You really need all restrictions lifted to have a hope

rookiemere · 14/06/2021 21:59

Oh and with DS at the fag end of a very disturbed S3, I'd quite like his school to stay open with him in it as they need every day they can get with exams looming in S4 and gawd knows what interruptions to the term and ill thought out changes to curriculum and testing methods.

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 22:06

Thanks all.

It’s clearly hopeless.

He’ll need to make do with me and his boy. It’s a shame .

LizzieMacQueen · 14/06/2021 22:20

Not sure if it's been commented on already but have you seen the latest twitter campaign from Scot Gov ?

"To stop the virus spreading further, we need you to take two tests every week. Even if you’re fully vaccinated and don’t have symptoms."

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 22:22

No fucking way @LizzieMacQueen! That’s insane.

I’ll be doing no testing ever

Makes sense. Fully vaccinated people may be able to spread it from what I understand. Sensible approach and many folk are happy to test regularly. Especially those of us who don't have the luxury of working from home.
WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 22:34

🙄

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 22:35

Save me from the non deadly virus !!!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 22:47

I do it twice a week, I like to keep an eye on it - I think of myself like the canary in the family coalmine 😁 so if I don't have it, they probably don't either.

LizzieMacQueen · 14/06/2021 22:50

@SoMuchForSummerLove , I guess we were kind if doing that when our son was at school with his 3times a week testing. He was our canary, though he's left school now.

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 22:50

Just boosts “cases” and restrictions

Eek. This kind of thing worries me. I know many will be OK to test at the moment, to get through the last weeks of term and whatnot. But we are always going to be at the stage where "you're fully vaccinated and don't have symptoms". Is this going to be what we are asked to do now, for the foreseeable? Even in tier 1? Even in tier zero, or beyond zero? And if not, why not say, this is just until July, or just until we are in tier zero or whatever. And what if we don't test? Is everything being left to the same "compliant" part of the population to put themselves out again, to feel they are doing some good - while the virus continues to spread in hospitals/ care settings/ crammed workplaces and so on, as it has done throughout.

I've just lost so much trust, I no longer believe they will remove all these "extra" things they are asking us to do - just to be on the safe side. I'm sure I'm being super paranoid and "of course, we won't be asked to do these things for a moment longer than necessary" Hmm but my goodwill is really, really thin at the moment. I'm just not convinced we are being given what we were promised in terms of relaxed restrictions once certain criteria were met. So, meh - I'm not sure I believe this will really help.

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 22:55

@ResilienceWanker it’s all a pile of shite, and people need to stop going along with it or we will never be freed.

Never in a million years will I or my family partake is that nonsense
RedactedTaeFeck · 14/06/2021 23:57

Well most of us have more chance of being ill or dying from heart disease or cancer every week than we do from covid so I'll be happy to have my two tests a week for that instead.

What the actual fuck, it's insane. I heard the advert this morning and couldn't believe it.

Coquohvan · 15/06/2021 07:39

We need you 😡 We need you our government, to be honest!

Nope not happening.

rookiemere · 15/06/2021 08:08

I could do with my routine breast cancer screening meant to be happening within 2 years of my 50th, what with my DM and DAunt having had breast cancer. Looks like it could be somewhat delayed according to my Medical Practice.

But gosh yes do let me avail myself of bi weekly tests ( presumably of the fairly useless lateral flow type) so that despite being double vaccinated, my modest plans stand every chance of being decimated. Lets also simultaneously run huge outdoor events without mandatory testing to push the chances of me being positive up a notch.

Even DH who does covid response says not a chance in hell!

The data coming out shows that vaccinations also reduce transmission risk!

I will do tests for big things like attending weddings, seeing very elderly DH GP or a holiday! Not doing it every sodding week and we are still in the do not test window anyway!

randomsabreuse · 15/06/2021 08:28

When we get to level 0 I suspect my sport might request/require one. Probably fair enough...

LizzieMacQueen · 15/06/2021 09:32

I know, the psychology of the messages, on my tv, adverts all over the place the 'I'm not giving in' from the double jabbed with the tartan facemask on, even pausing All4, it doesn't pause where you stop, it replaces the tv programme with a covid info poster! When we're trying to relax and forget (fargo I can recommend BTW) watching TV FGS!!

Arrrrgh. Too much.
