Sadly the end was not as close as we thought so new thread required ....

Thanks dancemom! That seems to be a slight decline in overall hospital numbers, though a small increase in ICU. Hopefully things are going in the right direction, though. Hopefully the % positive will be skewed by a smaller number of tests at the weekend.
@ResilienceWanker the US government is providing the vaccine free to all regardless of insurance or immigration status.
Thanks! That's good! How very Socialist of them. Grin

ssd · 14/06/2021 14:21

Yes it is. I read if you are over 12 you can get the vaccine at the supermarket in the USA..good on them, wish we had that here.

Haudyourwheesht · 14/06/2021 14:22

There have been reporting issues or processing issues or something, so I'm not trusting these case numbers. Grin

ssd · 14/06/2021 14:23

My friend is an unpaid carer who registered weeks ago and is still waiting.

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 14:24

Are they going to change the counting of the hospital figures here, like they are in England?

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 14:25

She should give them a phone, the unpaid carer thing ended weeks ago and she's maybe been completely missed.

I think she phoned the vaccine hotline but they just said she's registered but they can see no appointment yet...don't think there's much else she can do?

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 16:11

That's not great is it? I had my second vaccine two weeks ago as an unpaid carer so she's well behind.

I know I am like a broken record but I don't care about hospital admissions unless they are tracking hospital admissions where they had to be admitted because of Covid. A hospital admission for a gallbladder removal who tested positive for Covid is of no f'ing consequence. But people will say hospital admissions are 'creeping up' 🤦🏻‍♀️
Pootle40 · 14/06/2021 16:36

Here's my drum and I'm going to keep banging it

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 16:39

@Pootle40 hear hear!

Plus I saw today that 80% of people in hospital in England testing positive have caught it there

Pootle40 · 14/06/2021 16:50

Why does that not surprise me @WouldBeGood

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 16:52

It really is a hospital acquired infection

ResilienceWanker · 14/06/2021 18:43

@Pootle40

Here's my drum and I'm going to keep banging it
It is a Good Drum and needs banging. The Stats regulator has told the SG that they should split hospital numbers into actual covid admissions, and those who were admitted for something else and either catch it in hospital or had it incidentally on entry (they also asked this was done in December, but it hasn't been). So fingers crossed...
Haudyourwheesht · 14/06/2021 18:56

@Pootle40 I completely agree and have been banging that drum for a good while myself. To the extent where, when a good friend's mum was due to go into hospital, I told him to check it was utterly essential, as I've known quite a few people go in healthy and get covid in there.

It seems highly likely that at least some of the children that Humza was scaring us with are in hospital with something else, and just happened to test positive.

And the ICU figures are likely the same. Some there because of covid, some just happen to have covid.

I think this is a really important point.

There should be a distinction between admitted with covid and admitted with something else and subsequently testing positive. Possibly also how many tested negative on admission and later tested positive

Absolutely. So glad I've found my people as often people just dismiss stuff.

Coquohvan · 14/06/2021 20:02

I’m also with you and everyone else on this @Pootle40

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 20:13

Could they just get Scotsnet on the stats? And anomalies 😂

rookiemere · 14/06/2021 20:54

Our Edinburgh area has turned into a covid hotspot apparently. There was a van round the corner with free covid tests for all - if they'd thrown in an ice cream I might have considered this. Still keeping fingers crossed that DS can keep going to school for the next 8 days.

Perihelion · 14/06/2021 21:14

Quite a lot of Edinburgh could be regarded as a Covid hotspot. Right now I'd be quite happy for schools to shut. There's been more positive cases in DD's school in the last 2 weeks than the rest of the pandemic. I'm still more than a month away from a sniff of a second jab and really selfishly, I want to be able to travel within Scotland when the schools break up. I'm getting the fear that restrictions could be put back in place.

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 21:41

How many households/people allowed to meet indoors in a restaurant?

I can't even remember now. Is it 8 from 4 in level 2?
